      He's dead of suffocation. They make a point at 3:22 of showing them passing through some kind of barrier, which I'm guessing surrounds the entire city and keeps the air in. Otherwise, everyone would have been blown out through that hole in the wall as soon as they made it.

    SPOILERS
    I remember when I saw this movie for the first time and saw that scene. When Murdoch opens the door and there's that blue sky background and you think "at last, they're at that sunny Shell Beach", and you realize that the beach is just an old poster on a wall with a faint spotlight... the end of the city and the end of the world is just a frigging brick wall, there's nothing beyond that!! Awesome movie.

    • @stepheng.robert7262
      @stepheng.robert7262 7 лет назад +2

      conatcha If there was nothing there wouldn't be a beach. I like so much this movie because like Brazil for example, it leaves you to make your own mind about the end which I think is what is waiting for us after the decay of the body : a world of endless possibilities. I want for our world to realize that while we are alive and that this world of possibilities is still at our reach in our human form. But this is my choice.

    This is one of my favorite movies. It's the movie the late Philip K. Dick would have made. Dick specialized in what came to be known as the "reality breakdown" genre. This movie stands with the blockbusters Total Recall and Blade Runner - both of which dealt with people questioning the reality of their existence - and Dark City's payoff was the best of them all.

    In Robert Monroe’s 3RD book “Ultimate Journey”, he describes his out of body journey to what he calls the Great Emitter. His urge to go “home” was so strong at that point that he was drawn to the place where we all exit this realm of experience when we are complete. The Emitter radiates an energy that creates the physical reality that we experience. Beside the Emitter is the Aperture that is the exit point from this reality. What is on the other side may be undetermined at this point. Some may have passed through that Aperture, but they have undoubtedly moved on to other adventures.

    "Earth" is the Dark City and we are the protagonists.
    I mean it's obviously an allegory like the Truman Show movie and the song Hotel California. We are trapped in a dark place, I know it doesn't look that grim and dark like the Dark City does, but when you look beneath the shiny canvas this is a world of darkness and cruelty in which we are trapped and like the characters of "Dark City" we don't know where we came from, none of us do, but very few of us do have the lingering feeling that this is not our home and that there is something fishy about our "reality". I wish I could smash down the walls of this illusory farce even if there is a gaping nothingness behind it...just for a little moment of satisfaction.

      He wouldn't burn or freeze to death. His tears and saliva on the lips and in the mouth would boil but it would not burn or scald him or cause pain by boiling away. He won't freeze as heat loss requires molecules to transfer heat. Years he would technically lose heat through radiation but he'd died long long before his body went cold.
      He'd die of asphyxia. Meaning he'd struggle to breath but more so, he'd get hypoxia and fall unconscious and die.

      He manifested the ability to his son's memory before their memories were taken. The city was theirs until the strangers took it from them.

    The question in Dark City is "Have you been to Shell beach?" In reality, it's "Have you been to Antarctica? Did you make it to the other side?" The truth is none of us have been there to explore it to realize that you can't get past Antarctica. It is the ring that rules this world.

    I love the metaphor of Shell Beach --- whenever you ask anyone a question like -- "do you think Obama was a good president -- or if Hillary and the Clintons are good -- people say yes and then you ask them to name 3 good things they have done and the caveat is you can't say Obamacare unless you buy your own health insurance. Guess what? Most people can't say ONE THING. This is what happens when you listen to TV narratives and politician talking points there is no substance. I am neither democrat or republican -- but the Democrats really think Obama and Clintons are good and reality they did more destruction to middle and working class people than the Republicans ever could have. NAFTA, Welfare reform, deregulation of Wall St all under Clinton. Obama gave us corporate medicine, bigger military spending in Afghanistan, Bailed out Wall St, and under him we saw the RISE of the Tech surveillance state monopolies. NOT GOOD. Trumpers are the same -- Trump never helped any Americans -- he gave corporate America big tax break, just rebuilt old wall and never extended, gave huge money to military -- Never put Hillary or anyone in jail -- they are all the same.

      They're hardly the same. One party (Democrats) are doing everything they can to destroy America and destroy the livelihood and soul of Americans. Trump did what he could to put America first and make American lives better. He actually accomplished a lot given that all of Washington, the corporate media, big tech, Hollywood, academia, and the unions, public school system, etc. were against him and tried to destroy him for over 4 years. He made mistakes but he still tried. I'm an independent voter but you're never going to convince me that both parties are the same, because one is dangerous and very nefarious.

      I mean, like... yes, a president is little more than a symbol for an era, but trump has the unique distinction of having made the worst citizens actively and endlessly awful for real Americans, and that does matter.

    Humble yourselves in prayer, read Gods word and study it. Humbly pray that your eyes be open. Fast and pray and ask Jesus to reveal the truth to you. Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit, after you've asked Jesus to forgive you for all your sins. If you stay steadfast in Jesus Christ, and truly mean it, The truth will be revealed...Put on the Full Armor of God for your eyes to be opened through the Holy Spirit n Gods word! You can be free! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
