    In order to remove the front cover and get to the power supply and mother board you should remove the screw to the top right of the screw that you are installing at 16:52. The one you are putting in actually holds the power supply in place. Thanks for sharing your videos and knowledge.

    Hi James! I really appreciate your videos, they help us a lot.
    I have a Pfaff Creative Vision 5.0, I bought it recently, but it appears to have problems with the power supply, is it possible to change it by opening the bottom cover? I've already loosened the screws, but I can't open it.
    And can you give me some help on how to make this change by installing a new power supply? Thank you.

      That is frustrating for you. The bottom cover should pull of when all of the bolts holding the base to the frame are completely removed. The power supply is a separate module and can be replaced. There are a few screws which attach it to the frame and a few cables to attach it to the electronic components. Take a photo of the existing one in situ and then when the replacement arrives, it should be just a few minutes to swap it for the new one. If you still cannot get the bottom off, let me know and I will check to see if there is something that might be holding it in place. Check that the power and foot controllers are removed as well.

    Hi James, first off this creative vision series was a god send as we recently purchased a "used" creative vision that is in need of TLC . I pulled the top and back
    covers off as/per the video. My question(s) are how to get the bottom gray base off as I need to put the spring back on the embroidery unit connection door
    cover (the spring is just laying in the "well" behind the leg of the door). Looks easier to do with the gray base off. Also is there a way to get the front cover off
    easily. I have removed the 4-bottom screws (video) and the top screw under the cover by the bobbin winder , but it looks like the flywheel/hand wheel needs to come off, I'm afraid those 2- plastic arms that grip the cross pin on the shaft might be brittle . The machine sewed at demo but somebody was definitely inside before. Any help would be appreciated.

      There are four screws that hold the base on. There are other screws which hold the machine to the base. You will not hurt anything by unscrewing the wrong ones. It is difficult to figure out which ones are correct, but one thing that I found helpful was to push and pull the plastic bits whilst unscrewing. If there was additional movement, it is the right one. At worst, if you take them all out, the power supply and stuff will become loose. They can all be screwed back on.

      @@jamesrogers991 Thanks for the reply. Eventually pulled the face cover off (and found the spring clip that contacts the underneath of the needle plate laying below the hook in lint ! )now for the base, all to replace the embroidery unit connection spring loaded door ( where the spring was laying inside by the connector { door had no spring closure},just need to figure where the spring leg anchors. Again many thanks for your creative vision videos

    Any chance you can take stills of the thread cover mods you made by adding the little metal thingy behind the plastic and what you did below the machine with hot melt glue to fix the thread shreding?

    • @jamesrogers991
      @jamesrogers991  11 месяцев назад

      I just put a piece of metal which covers the area where the thread made groves in the plastic. I can certainly try to send you some stills if you wish. I would recommend checking if thread has made groves in the plastic. I have even seen that thread can made groves in aluminium. Steel seems to be the best choice. I noticed that many other machines have a streel wire across that arrea but the flat piece was easier than trying to figure out how to drill holes and attache it.

    James - Fundamental questions: I have two problems: 1. Machine reboots. 2. Motor Overload. Of course the machine is very clean, rotates freely, plug fully inserted, Overload message may occur with even a very thin piece of fabric. After POPO, machine may runs for hours, then starts repeating the problems. How to access the power supply/circuit board / Motor. Is this a brushed motor? Best location to access the service manual. Thanks for help...

    • @jamesrogers991
      @jamesrogers991  4 года назад

      I have seen some service manuals on-line but I have not found the one for the exact model. The boards and power supply are all very accessible once you take off the covers. The motor overload I have seen with needle jams. The bobbin area and gears are attached to the needle. When you take off the covers, check in the bobbin area and gear area for broken needles and fluff. The motors are standard type and should be purchasable on-line.

    There is a Pfaff CV embroidery machine near me. The lady said that the embroidery function quit working. Then the last time she tried to just sew with it, when she turned it on it shut down almost immediately. Any idea what might be wrong with it? I know another Ytuber replaced all the capacitors on some Husqvarna Designer SE's and brought them back to life. I can get the machine and every thing for $100, just hate to see it go to the dump if it can be repaired. It looks like a great machine.

    • @jamesrogers991

      When the machine powers up and then shuts off immediately, this usually means that the power supply needs replacing or some electronics person can replace the capacitors etc. which have failed. It is not a terribly expensive part compared to the price of the machine. The embroidery carriage will likely need a good cleaning and lubricating -- it is not awful to do, but there are quite a few screws involved.

      @@jamesrogers991 We went and bought the machine today. Embroidery arm, 3 large hoops, and a large hoop 350mm X 360mm. I turns on, the lights come on, the presser foot raises and lowers, then the dogs move. The touch screen is responsive. We have tried doing a straight stitch a dozen times, as soon as the presser foot goes down it shuts down. 1 time it sewed 4 stitches, then shut down. I does the same thing whether using the foot pedal or using the "Start" button. I'm thinking it may need a good cleaning and possibly a tension issue. The wheel turns freely to move the needle bar up and down. There was quite a bit of lint under the bobbin case. Any thoughts on what the issue might be, motor, bad ground, tension issues. I'm going to tear into it with the help from your video, and do a good cleaning and look for any loose chaffed wires. Thanks, Ken

      @@customcutter100 it is the power supply. I had the same symptoms but once I replaced the power supply it worked perfectly. It is a common fault and just takes a bit of money and time and then you will love it.

      @@jamesrogers991 Just wanted to give you and update. I pulled all the covers off and tested the power supply voltages. Then I checked the foot pedal, and finally I checked the cable from the power supply to the mother board for shorts or continuity. I re-attached the power supply cable and seated each end FIRMLY. It is working fine. Thanks again for the video it helped in the dis-assembly.
