You know, these giant screens taking up the whole dashboard really raise a question for me, something I don’t think many have thought of: Does having this screen pose a safety risk? I wonder this because in a design like this, how would a passenger airbag be integrated? Is having this screen less safe because you can’t have some standard safety features? Something to think about.
ive always thought about that too, like in the case of a head-on collision, wouldn't a huge screen just make the situation worse? what if it shatters and there's an even higher risk of being hurt by the glass?
@@tropixx8143 Exactly, things like that. I don’t know if most people would think about it at first, I just realized it recently. I wonder what automakers do to improve these situations.
I also have no idea how an Airbag should work with this Design, but in Europe the safety Standards always get higher and the new mercedes have like the same „safety-score“ as the outgoing Models, which means the new Models are at least as Safe as the old ones. But as I said, I also have no idea how

Yeah completely disagree about the headlights and c pillar. The headlights are a perfect nod to the E classes of old without having two separate lighting houses, kind of like the facelift W212 and pre facelift w213. The c pillar works perfectly with the design of the car. Not only does it help with aerodynamics, achieving 0.23 which is pretty much the same as the EQE (one is a traditional three box and the other is a bar of soap), but it keeps the sleek silhouette. It’s important to note that BMW and Mercedes have two very different ways of styling their cars. BMWs front end tends to angle backwards with a squared off rear end, making the car look like it’s ready to pounce off its rear axle, MB prefers the shark nose front end and swoopy rear end, this makes the car look like it’s in motion at high speed, kind of like it’s hugging the ground, gives it a stable look. The two angle their front and rear ends in opposite directions. Some prefer that “pouncing” stance and others prefer that “high speed road hugging” stance.

It's heartbreaking to relaize one day these beauties would be replaced by those boring stuffs.
I love it I want one but I can’t have three E Classes one will have to go , I love the new seats and the integration of the technology is fantastic, Mercedes have always been laden with advanced technology and this is just another step in the evolution, I also love the three pointed star tail lights they just look the business as do the projection on the new headlight setup, I’m glad they’ve gone back to the none star grille and put the star back on the hood it looks like a Mercedes again subtle clean design.
Nice that you like the steering wheel but have you tried using it? The touch controls are really annoying to use since you have to make rather big swiping movements in a weird position with your thumb stretched out. Also for the volume. Sorry to say but I’m my opinion the old physical controls are far superior
I have to agree ....... a lot of distractions in the new E-Class. It's silly to have Tic Tok and Angry Birds on your dashboard! I had a '13 E-Class and it was the best touring car I've ever owned. Sorry, I've never driven/ridden in an S-Class, I'm sure it's even more enjoyable. I currently own a '16 400SL and '17GLE. With all the bells and alerts (particularly with the GPS message of divert for 2-minute saving) on these two, it's a challenge to react! What would your focus be with a dash that looks like an iPhone! Talk about distracted driving! I'll leave it at your comment.....MB's own admission "more focus on software than hardware"! I own MBs for survival, reliability, handling, and quality of ride. Don't go chasing Lexus and Genesis for gimmicks.........excellent review. Well done, thanks!
It looks great in the Exclusive trim. Very athletic and majestic compared to previous design which had that C class blandness. Interior will take getting used to with all the screens but it's not a deal breaker. I'll be buying the AMG model next year for sure and putting videos on my channel.
I hate the new one. The old one had layers and idk how to describe it, old one feels more human to me. The new one looks generic, blobby, melted cheesy, cold, and sterile.
7:56 I think the design of the decklid angle is meant to make the E-Class look more appealing In terms of aesthetics, because the CLS-Class is discontinued.
I quite like the exterior but for me, the interior looks like gimmicky junk. THREE screens! why the hell would the passenger want a screen? Just doesn’t feel like luxury
I really like the profile of the car, very elegant and sleek with great proportions while retaining the E-Class shape. It's also quite a bit more visually interesting than the W213, which looked a bit flat and amorphous to me. I don't like the front though, the lower part of the AMG trim front bumper is far too busy and the black around the grill is tacky. I think the luxury trim is the better looking one this time around. That interior though, it's not even close to the W213. The 213 interior has elegance and so much character, while this new interior lacks that classy aesthetic and will almost certainly age poorly. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years all car interiors look something like this, with just screens everywhere and no real charm, and the E-Class wont stand out like it used to. In terms of interior design, I think W213 is peak E-Class. Google Car and Driver 2019 E-Class wagon interior, and just look at that interior spec, it's OUTSTANDING. I cant think of any car well under 100k that has an interior anywhere near that level of beaty and elegance. The W214's interior just lacks the beautiful natural flow of the 213, and replaces natural open pore wood on the dash with screens using an ugly UI that will only look worse with time. It saddens me that we are moving away from design and heading towards endless screens and gimmicky tech.
Only thing that I do not like about the new E-Class is that is a mismatch of design elements between the electric and gas versions which looks off. To clarify, the headlights and tail-lights look like they are inspired by the EQE whereas the body panels appear to be inspired by the gas version of the new S-Class. Not sure how I feel about, trying to be receptive to new designs as Mercedes tries to combine and transition their design language towards EVs but as of now it looks off in my humble opinion.
in china there's a type of auto parts store that specifically sells cheap badge illumination kits and lit up fake chrome vents and the such this is very much reminiscent of that
It’s not getting a coupe or convertible. Mercedes already retired both of those variants for the e and c class. The 2024 CLE is replacing all 4 of those variants
I see that tiktok and slefie stuff more befitting the c class bcuz it's more young ppl esque the e class is something my dad would drive and the s class is like my grandpa or dad car
Honestly, I just think Mercedes update the design just so that they can say they have a new model. However, the older model was almost perfect and all they can do is to make it uglier. Also, I personally think that the two screens on the previous version look nice than this entire dashboard of screens. It was looking modern and digital enough, but left enough space for nice materials and created pieces. The whole dashboard is a screen looks kinda cheap as a Chinese car
I see here people having a problem with how the infortainment screens of today are so big as if its any different from a small screen in purpose? All screens serve the same purpose whether small or big,you always gonna take your eyes off the road to focus on what you want to control on the screen. So whether its big or small none of them is safer than the other. So we cant be really stuck into 2009 when the information screens were way smaller than that of todays cars. The direction that we're heading to,cars will be in full charge of taking us into our destinations. We all dont want to go there but still thats where the direction it heading to. Any way this car looks a bit outish not likable at first site maybe in time it will.
Too much gimmickry in the new variant. My favorite all time M-B is the 1971 280SE 3.5L V-8 Cabriiolet. This car was a rocket with the V-8 and has absolutely met the test of time in an elegant soft top machine. The chocolate brown with cognac (tan) leather interior always stood out to be a real man's car. Today's M-B automobiles focus too much on electronics (think planned obsolesce) and they have made a flawed decision to go down the EV road. Charging infrastructure is not there for EV's and the downsides with how/where the lithium and cobalt are mined is troubling from a human rights and environmental standpoints. Ah, the always perfect 280SE what a perfect ride!
The tail light stars look out of place. They could make them thinner, more like the logo and that would clean it up nicely. A single thin, 3-point star.
The s class is getting a refreshed facelift for s production model for either likely Q3 or Q4 2024 or early 2025 and then after that likely 3 years later or almost three a brand new s class will go into production. The newest maybachs out right now are the GLS 600 and the EQS 680. It's heartbreaking to relaize one day these beauties would be replaced by those boring stuffs.
There's a lot here I like. I don't like headlight scallops, they remind me of the facelift PT Cruiser and I can't shake that impression.
To me, this is the first good looking E class since W212 pre-facelift.
Wow, probably not their best design (proportion wise) neither styling, hopefully perception changes with time
Few years in future and you will see those dual circular headlights
I love it I want one but I can’t have three E Classes one will have to go , I love the new seats and the integration of the technology is fantastic, Mercedes have always been laden with advanced technology and this is just another step in the evolution, I also love the three pointed star tail lights they just look the business as do the projection on the new headlight setup, I’m glad they’ve gone back to the none star grille and put the star back on the hood it looks like a Mercedes again subtle clean design.
I honestly hate this design man. Mercedes designs have been poor recently...I'm not a fan of their current design language
Current design language suck!
mercedes: "we slapped a melted EQC face and trashy taillights onto our bar of soap sedan look!! aren't we so cool and futuristic!??"
Same with the bmw also. Their designs are looking more toyish these days
I think it it looks good.
You know the car is trash when it have tiktok on infotainment screen😶🌫️
I can’t stand this new direction from MB… that front end looks like it could be anything… and with that grille it looks kind of like a Buick.
I honestly love the design, but the tail lights seemed like they were aftermarket, and had to keep the same shape as the stock taillights.
I hate the new one. The old one had layers and idk how to describe it, old one feels more human to me. The new one looks generic, blobby, melted cheesy, cold, and sterile.
Can this model be a plugin hybrid??
The first thing I thought when I saw that tail light graphic was Reebok 😂
Wonderful Video, I was wondering if you saw the Mclaren 750s 🤔
7:56 I think the design of the decklid angle is meant to make the E-Class look more appealing In terms of aesthetics, because the CLS-Class is discontinued.
Sad that they keep killing off distinctive models and keep putting out snooze-fests of designs :/
I quite like the exterior but for me, the interior looks like gimmicky junk. THREE screens! why the hell would the passenger want a screen? Just doesn’t feel like luxury
I actually think the taillights are the best looking part of this new E class.
Stunning redesign hightec look 2024 new e class
The change you did in the rear end made it look like a BMW rear end
I like the side of this car, but I think headlights and taillights shape is not okay.
What do you think about new Cupra Tavascan?
I was thinking the same regarding the tail lights when I first saw them: super random and makes no sense at all.
*CAN'T wait for the (E 63 amg)*
The headlights really give Infiniti q50 and Kia forte vibes
Only thing that I do not like about the new E-Class is that is a mismatch of design elements between the electric and gas versions which looks off. To clarify, the headlights and tail-lights look like they are inspired by the EQE whereas the body panels appear to be inspired by the gas version of the new S-Class. Not sure how I feel about, trying to be receptive to new designs as Mercedes tries to combine and transition their design language towards EVs but as of now it looks off in my humble opinion.
Excellent analysis.
Exterior looks more like the previous gen S-class now
The car is a somewhat different and sorta nice design. I definitely prefer the one with the S class grille though
It’s beautiful he is too critical
I have a 2020 I am upset it doesn’t have touch screen
Please redesign it with the round headlights... I wished they had taken a risk and brought those back
I don't like the front lights, they look way too bulbous, but the tail light signature are deadass POOR TASTE and tacky
in china there's a type of auto parts store that specifically sells cheap badge illumination kits and lit up fake chrome vents and the such
this is very much reminiscent of that
The curve at 7:50 is not the car changing , it’s just your drawing lmao
Wonder what the coupe and convertible will look like!
It’s not getting a coupe or convertible. Mercedes already retired both of those variants for the e and c class. The 2024 CLE is replacing all 4 of those variants
black wheels is so passé! Tuning 20 years ago!
I see that tiktok and slefie stuff more befitting the c class bcuz it's more young ppl esque the e class is something my dad would drive and the s class is like my grandpa or dad car
I stand with you in your battle against the "cascading butt" in modern Mercs but I'm sad to say it's probably a lost cause.
It looks like a Chinese copy of the original model. Or EQE
made it look like a ford taurus
Seems as if that’s the design language everyone is going for lol.
@@rtcturnemup7028 valid the taurus is a good looking car so that ain't bad
Those tail lights are hideous
The tail lights are hideous, and they need to be redesign no stars in the in the lights
The tail light stars look out of place. They could make them thinner, more like the logo and that would clean it up nicely. A single thin, 3-point star.
I bet that the Mercedes designers would love to integrate it like you said except they’re being stopped my safety regulations about the brake lights
@@Γιάννης-ξ8μ then they shouldn't force that design idea if it's not viably producible
First time I like the classic package more than the amg package
Finally, the sedans needed an upgrade more than anything in Merceds. Did they showcase a new S class and Maybach yet?
The s class realistically doesn’t need an upgrade yet. Just 2 years old
The s class is getting a refreshed facelift for s production model for either likely Q3 or Q4 2024 or early 2025 and then after that likely 3 years later or almost three a brand new s class will go into production.
The newest maybachs out right now are the GLS 600 and the EQS 680. Mercedes teased that there is a eq maybach sedan coming in the comments of their Instagram page but they haven’t said anything else about it.
