- Hotel California, if it were covered by Stevie Ray Vaughan
So there's a couple of influences here, the most obvious one being SRV's version of Little Wing. Then there's some parts that a reminiscent of Riviera Paradise, and a little bit of Tin Pan Alley.
SRV's version of Little Wing did not contain any vocals and that's the way I decided to go with this one aswell. The chord progression of each verse is quite longs which gives you a lot of time to build towards that chorus and then back down to a verse, where it goes so quiet you can hear the hum of the guitar through the mix.
Hope you like it!

I'm a 72 year old grown ass man....I'm weeping thinking the camera will pan up to see Stevie...RIP STEVIE...
I’m still waiting to see that feather swaying on the hat!
I'm with you on this.
Saw him once late 80's, .... their is no other but him. I cried, the day of his passing
The second, day the music died.
Another legend, another Texan, killed in a plane crash.
I wasn't around for the first one, but I definitely remember the day Stevie died. Hit me really hard. Just like Buddy, he had so much more music to play. We all lost.
75, and concur with u all. What a talent loss. 😢❤✌️
Yes, The Eagles are due credit for writing this melody and Stevie Ray Vaughan deserves credit for this playing style BUT without a doubt, you deserve a lot of credit for making this connection and executing the performance so well. Thank You.
And Jethro tull
This style?? This style is HENDRIX
@@MusicMotivator Of course ... not! To do it Hendrix style, at first step You'll want to install the strings in reverse order, and only this way You'd get Hendrix sound sharming, and next to get Hendrix style smell You'll need Zippo and gazoline can, but be careful!🤪
I’m old enough and was blessed enough to see him and his brother play live. Spot. On.
I saw Robert Cray open for SRV in San Diego. One of the greatest concerts I ever saw.
The sad part is, there are so many people out there that don't know how good this is. God bless
It really sounds to me like a cross between "Hotel California" and Hendrix's "Little Wing."
Beyond excellent.
@@sidviscous5959sure, but you mean SRV's version of Little wing as he says in the description... Because the tone and chording he's using is tied to SRV...
You Got That Right 😊 The Same People that don't Appreciate this Wonderful Music Can't Dress, and have no style or Class !! Kinda Like A Teacher in the Summer Time !!
🤔 😆 🤣 😉
@@sidviscous5959 Yup.
Ok, so SRV was one of those unique people who somehow managed to squeeze notes out of a guitar in a way that had never been done before. Brilliant. But you picked up his paint brushes and have gone one giant step beyond the master! Stand tall and proud!
Hotel Little Wing.
Absolutely brilliant!! 👌
little Hotel California
O yeah 😍
That's exactly what I thought
Little California Hotel Wing
Little Wing Hotel in California
As a guitar player myself you notice little things other guitar players are doing when they are playing improv . He was moving his hand up and down the neck while not playing anything because in his mind he was deciding where he wanted to go next . Ahh the beauty of playing blues and Jazz . Blues comes from the soul . It is sooo much fun to have a band lay you down a melody and just improvise harmonies on top where ever your soul takes you .
That my friends is blues .
This Cat has the skills to channel SRV from the grave. So many of his signature licks executed with conviction. Respect 🙏🙏🙏
Stevie's signature sound that people have been trying for years to replicate was such a unique sound for so many reasons...the fact that he used heavy guage strings for the three highest strings, his tuning, and he was very heavy-handed when picking and fretting. Those all came together in a formula which noone could reproduce accurately....until now!
I clicked on this thumbnail and title thinking it was just gonna be another one of those "I ruined it" AI-generated "if so and so did this song" videos, and to see someone actually playing and being able to instantly recognize the unmistakeable tone and cadence of Stevie left me completely spellbound. Thank you!
I close my eyes and I can just see Stevie smiling... RIP SRV! Gone but never forgotten!
Trust me for someone who is a die hard SRV fan… he would have LOVED this… my sister was one of his roadies and I showed her this and she cried saying the very same thing.. he would have loved this.. hats off.. you might have his style but this was ALL you buddy….I’m on my knees right now …bowing.. I’m not worthy.. I’m not worthy…
Thank you! And thanks for the story, that's so cool to hear!
You are Damn Right! About him, You are worthy, my friend!
My son was born the night that en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lee_Hooker died. I was not permitted to name him Daniel Lee Roberts.
This was good a bit slow but is a good heart in honor of his 'mentor' perhaps not in physical reality. The music is spiritual Stevie was great you do well, thank you Honor Jesus the Holy Ghost will motivate you . Thanks
@@markroberts171 When first was born I had been stuck on Jefferson Davis and calling him Davies

whoever's playing bass on this also deserves some love . . .

Who knew that Hotel California was right next to Tin Pan Alley? Amazing combination!
It's address is now 100 W Tin Pan Alley
I recommend Stevie Ray Vaughn every time some kid talks about rap .
I'm gonna start doing that too
Is that rap with a capital C?
I like rap but, I also like R&B, jazz, soul, rock, funk, bossa nova, blues, country.... I appreciate all music genres and most I can vibe with.
Words fail me. How is that even possible? I mean I get it, he’s a genius at replicating the different playing styles but come on, this is on a different plane. Banging out an Eagles classic on that tone monster in the style of SVR is just so damn inventive I’m just blown away. As a tribute to both SVR and the Eagles it’s brilliant. Thank you.
All the comments are praising SRV. And rightfully so. But this cat here is absolutely phenomenal!!👍
It’s on my playlist now.. thank you!!
Absolutely.....love it!
He aint that special at all. Why would you spend all your time trying to sound like someone else? Be yourself cuz that is all you can be. The guy is talented for sure, but I would rather hear him do something new. But it is not for me to tell him what to do. That is the beauty of music, everyone has different tastes!!
@@gib59er56 I would say combining the two would be considered being yourself . 191 likes on the comment and you are the only negative. 🇺🇸👍
@@zoeyshoots I can get cranky at times and that is the case here. The guy is a great player but one gets bored hearinh the same SRV stuff all the time. But (as I said) music is all about our individual taste`s, and makes the world a more interesting place.

The BEST not-a-cover…EVER!! You might have meant for this to be a ‘What If’…but Dude!…this isn’t SRV…this is all you…you made this your own, well done!
Love the different styles incorporated in this song.
Agree, entirely. Well done.
❤love it, amazing 🎉
Agreed, you killed this!!!!!
Yeah that is very true. We all get caught up in the SRV enigma because this gentleman IS THAT GOOD. If he wasn't, we wouldn't be here. All of this is a tribute to the man in the video's ability
I almost cried when listening to this. I miss Stevie. We missed out on a lot of years of great music when we lost him.
Excellent job Laszio.
one of the premier muscians of the last 100 years SRV his influence is still entertaining us, still changing music!!!
I named my son after SRV. I love how musicians today are keeping his memory alive. Stevie Ray was something special.
Beautiful! That's what I feel the purpose of these videos mostly is, other than just having a little fun.
Yes, a half assed Hendrix. Not really special.
I also named my oldest Stevie Ray after SRV! Huge influence on me over the years
I would much rather listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn than Jimmy Hendrix. Jimmy was a very showy player and he used a lot of effects. Definitely pushing the envelope. Stevie had more feel and used very few effects. I can feel every note that Stevie Ray ever played. That within is extremely hard to do. Not to mention the mastery of his instrument!!!
@@johnnieculverjr2054 your entire comment is just dripping with ignorance. You should try thinking, and maybe making sure you know what you're talking about.
Thank you for never making me never want to pick up my guitar again
If it's any consolation ...
No s**t 😵💫
Hahahahaaaaa
For real.
.just threw mine in the River
Made me run grab mine off the stand. Wow
Laszlo, you have the tone and the touch but that is YOUR arrangement. You now own that song. Thanks.
I am grateful SRV’s music style stays recognized and played with love and respect. ❤️💫 Peace
Every time I hear one of these covers by SRV - I just miss him all that much more.
You have (currently!) 15 likes on a comment that has left me baffled. Is it me, failing to grasp the concept that these 15 others not only understood, but gave you a nod of appreciation for? Or is it all 16 of you, asleep at the wheel?
You do get that this is not SRV, right? Is this a grammatical issue, and what you meant was either "covers OF SRV songs" or "covers of songs BY SRV?" That's still misleading, because this wasn't his song. You'd've had to say "covers of songs that SRV covered" - and we've gotten well away from being able to fix your statement by simply replacing a "by" with an "of".
And that's still essentially wrong, cuz I don't think Stevie ever covered Hotel CA, but I could be wrong about that.
I will not be holding my breath waiting for your reply. But I do hope you will clear this up.
@@JamesThompson-zk1ht You are correct - the grammar is terrible. However, the spirit of the note was interpreted correctly. When someone interprets a non-SRV song as if SRV covered it and does such an excellent job that it really sounds like SRV wrote it, it is magical. And those who like it are individuals who don’t need perfect grammar to see that magic.
All these years and I still think how unfair it was that we lost him. 😢 thank you for the amazing rendition of what he would have done to this classic
@@JamesThompson-zk1ht What's wrong with you? Chill out.
@@JamesThompson-zk1ht your 100% correct but don't sweat the small stuff.. we all miss SRV. Life is just unfair sometimes.
Jaw meet floor. That would be Stevie approved!!!
SRV was a phenomenal guitarist, who unfortunately was so unjustly lost in June 90'. He would give us much more if he lived!!!
He died Aug. 27 1990

Blown away to a feeling of reverence and just so rich
This performance will be a classic in the future.....
and the future is now.
the future was yesterday and tomorrow will be the past
I could listen to that all day - If I could play like that I wouldn't need therapy
You can play like that. It just takes 20 years of 3+ hours practice.
And then you'll want therapy.
Just fantastic. Thanks for putting this up.
ahAhahaha🎉
Please don't stop playing
On repeat I don't! Just sayin'
I agree
Thank you Laszlo Buring ! This is GREAT. And thank everyone that clicked the like button and caused the RUclips algorithm to suggest this video to me. What a surprise gift for the day.
If I had heard this without knowing what it was, I would absolutely have thought it was SRV. Amazing job.
Love it, its blues night at the Hotel California
Totally agree 👍🏼
😊😊😊!!!!
I hear Jimmy's voice in blues and jazz dousing it in complete harmony!
Close your eyes and you can visualize SRV playing this exactly... outstanding!
That includes the sweat and stank face….
Exquisite blending of “Little Wing” and “Hotel California” 😎🎸
The tastiest playing I've heard this year.
Never heard hotel California by SRV,run cold chills down my back....RIP brother we miss you 👍☕️☕️✌️🚬
Just WOW. I miss SRV so much for the way he threw his heart out there with every single note played. I never thought there could be another. But here you are. Bravo!
This needs to be on a album
AMEN!!!
It is ,TEXAS FLOOD .
Why am I able to hear Vaughn sing this in my head?.....
I think so Vaughan's guitar and vocals are like one, because both sing and form a truly wonderful whole. You can listen to both without the other, and Vaughan's guitar playing style has in a way formed its own blues genre. So this is just my view of how I perceive the maestro's way of making music. Maybe this is the answer to your question. 🤔🤷🏻♂️😊
Fucking great I love this I here it too
Love Stevie but, not sure he had enough high end range to sing this song in the original key but, he could have played the crap out of it. Probably would have been very much like this. Great job on this 👍
@@tradbowtimewithuncledan2686 he would have dropped octave on the high notes and gave it that gravelly voiced blues magic.
I wouldn’t mind see someone using AI to recreate his voice for the vocals.
This is totally crazy. I'm constantly hearing 2 songs at a time.
This makes me sad and happy at the same time.
Brilliantly played, as close as it gets to having Mr. Vaughn here with us again. I was such a fan, my first time hearing his music was when I was 12 years old. Cold Shot was the song, and I was hooked. The style in which his music was crafted stood tall in the blues genre. This video is a very unexpected gift.❤❤❤
Just FLiPPiN’ SiCK!!! Why do I even play guitar?!?!?!!!??!!! BRAVO! Stevie would be honored.
You're funny.😉 I wonder why I ride motorcycles after watching the greats for the last 50 years.😆

SRV was my favorite musician. He died the night of my wedding. When I was finally able to play our wedding video the last song was look at little sister. I still cry over the loss.
(Finger Spells) When I met my gf (soon to be my wife in 2001, we watched an Austin City Lights video I recorded where he played his last performance there. After Rivera Paradise ended, I proposed to her with tears in my eyes.
Almost 21 years later, that gorgeous southern belle blonde is still my best friend, and we love listening to SRV.
I have lost most of my hearing since 2015, but I can still hear this masterpiece with my Apple Headphones. (I have a LOT of trouble hearing speech, but music is far easier for some reason….
All I can say is, well done. I’m sure Stevie Ray is smiling about this. 😎
What I would give to play like that for just 1 day for myself, let alone have that kind of TALENT I could share with the whole world. AMAZING!!!
I heard a story from a classical violinist. Person said them, I’d give my life to play like you. Her response, “I have”.
Really? Pick up the guitar and just go for it. You will get there eventually if you really want it as much as you claim. Don’t give me TALENT and downplay the years of practice, dedication, sweat and blood that it takes for someone to get to this level of playing. So yeah, if you wanted it enough even you could do it.
@@sahelanthropus4422 SLOW UR ROLL...I gave respect you turn it aroud. What a world we live in. Of course he DEDICATED his life to his art, 1 could never become that ACCOMPLISHED without endless hours of hard work, blood, sweat and endless hours given to his craft.

That was amazing and beautiful. I never got to see SRV in concert. A friend of mine say him in Pensacola in the late 80's. Said he came out, sat on the front of the stage, kept his hat down and just played.

Beautiful. Lots of Hendrix in Stevie's playing
Yes it has a lot of little wing sounds.
It was sooo quiet in Texas that day. Stevie was the greatest.

Incredible. Especially the laid back, lower volume sections. The nuance and delicacy is exceptional.
Thank you!
I almost passed on this because I never cared for this song.... until now. WOW
SRV showed up, first time, at a music studio in NYC, and brought a bucket of fried chicken for everyone. It's a tiny glimmer of the fine type of fellow he was.
This damn near made me cry! So freaking good. I miss SRV, he died when I was in Iraq. I never got to see him perform a concert.

Such a bad ass talent !
Although he was long dead by the time The Eagles created this tune, I believe you channeled Hendrix. I was fortunate to have heard him play live in the 60’s and actually got to meet him and Mitch and Noel back then. I still have a “witch sleeve” shirt in my attic that he tried on but never purchased that was created by one of his tailors at that time.

A very honorable tribute done by a more than qualified musician
Thank God, we have people like this that can keep the sound and the feel of SRV alive forever
