the mission wasn't to hunt down gordon it was to kill everyone involved.

And the only reason the government wanted to kill everyone involved was to keep the Aliens a secret but since they're clearly running around in a city that's obviously a lost cause.
in half-life, after a while since the HECU Marines showed up they started hunting Freeman down because he was killing many Marines, as indicated from radio conversations and (blood?) messages painted on walls, directed toward Freeman.

yeah but i think what the guy meant was, the trailer has too much 'epic music' that is unearned. I guess they should've put more silence in the trailer, and let the character talk more clear. But that's just my opinion.
What I meant was overabundance of typical movie trailer tropes. It doesn't look like trailer for a game, it looks like a trailer for a new version of Cinematic Mod.
Set of shots of various set pieces, set of shots of Important People Talking Important Things, few namedrops, epic music made specifically to make everything look "Woah so grand and awe-inspiring" - all those things belong to Hollywood and those games which attempt to copy it.
Terf1988 There were hardly any cutscenes in Half Life 2. The one’s in it were like 30 seconds. The entire game was about 20 hours. That’s reasonable. This is just insulting.
I haven't seen anyone note in the comment section that at the end Mitchell's like "Adrian?" to me that means A HELL LOT OF THINGS, LIKE THE FACT THAT IT MIGHT BE ADRIAN SHEPARD FROM THE OTHER HL GAME AND HOW PEOPLE ARE MISSING SOMETHING HUGE TO TALK ABOUT

The amount of things that are less Half-Life and more CoD makes me cry.
Animated cutscenes is what valve avoided, giving us interactive ones which can be just called Scripted Sequences.

Its breaking the original game's story, making some stuff in the half life 2 story not make sense, then they will use that story in this 25$ mod, essentially breaking this mod's own backstory.
I would pay millions for this.
One of the best trailers for one of the biggest disasters in modding history
As some people has mentioned before, the fact that this game has cutscenes just shows how much "respect" has gone into making a game in the Half-Life universe. Not even Half-Life: Decay, the furthest from the offshoots, dared do something like that.
If you want to make a game that feels part of the same world, you are bound by the narrative rules of that world. It would be like using musical numbers to tell the story in Baldur's Gate. It's just not done. It would work in a satirical way, but this is too gritty and serious to fit that mold.
In conclusion, cutscenes is not really Half-Life. The game might be good, but it won't feel authentic. Oh, also, the models aesthetics fit more a Resident Evil style model, stiff and handsome, which detracts even more from the experience.
And the broken english is a matter of concern too. Any instance where english might not work (like all over the store page) WILL break the immersion. I have my doubts with this.
