Kind of hilarious how the SSR is the feature of this commercial but it flopped pretty hard. Shame it did, I think it was a case of consumers not "getting it". Wasn't exactly a truck, wasn't exactly a roadster, wasn't exactly a sports car. I think they look awesome and I imagine are great cruisers.
It just came at the worst time. GM was making very bland vehicles at the time and the SSR was so completely different. Funny thing is, it was actually good at all three. It has a decent payload and a good sized bed, the power top is easy to operate and mine has never broken in 18 years of ownership, and the 2005 and 2006 models especially after they started putting the LS2 in them, were ridiculously fast. And not only were they fast, they were agile with responsive steering and a relatively stiff chassis (you have to expect a little flex because it's a convertible).
In the movie "The Island" Michael made a 2/3 second commercial for the Chevy Equinox.

In "The Island" he use that car like the best car in movie but in Transformers 1 he blowed away that car in the battle in Downtown L.A. 😂
