Patara, because I love you, please be aware 2 weather youtubers I watch show this massive cat 3 hurricane passing over most of Tennessee! I just qant to make sure you're aware!💕🙏
NAVAGE better than Nettypot
I like your cough syrup
My grandfather had a very effective cough syrup but I believe there was only one ingredient😅
I want to make this asap!!!
Patera I would like to ask you to pray for us who are facing this hurricane. Still prepping for pantry and hurricane. Thank you for ALL you do. Love and prayers to you.
Where are you? Florida? We are having thunderstorms in Alabama right now. 🙏
🙏 ✝️
Prayers..be safe !
Will pray for you and all in the path. Texas Gulf Coast and we understand my friend.
Praying for everyone in the path of the hurricane.
Years of being an ER nurse, if I Had to pick one thing everyone should have on hand at all times, it is electrolytes. I make my own powder from magnesium, potassium and Himalayan pink salt. I keep a jar and just use a half a teaspoon per 16 ounce glass of water. Several times this summer, people have complained of leg cramping because of the excessive sweating and once they drink a glass, they’re fine. If somebody is vomiting consistently, especially if they’re older, you have to worry about potassium. I cannot stress that enough. Many people come into the ER and they mimic heart attacks, but it’s the electrolytes (esp potassium) causing it. Just my two cents
Where do u purchase the supplies to make that
Amen! And thank you for your service!
Prayers for the lineman that are headed to Florida in wake of this hurricane. Our son and his crew from Louisiana are headed there. Praying for everyone going through this storm.
Tell him that this transplanted from Louisiana says thanks.

Prayers! Such Heros! It's a serious job most people don't know.
As a Floridian, thank you! We are in the path. The linemen are our heros..

My oldest daughter and her family are in the path of the hurricane in Putnam county, Florida. May I request prayers for their safety along with the others that will be affected? Thank you.

@@lindastrang8703 thanks so much
I had all mine pulled at58, best thing I ever did! No more pain or toothaches, healed fast. Wish I had done it years earlier.
I don't care how many people do not like campbells....I am 58 and I grew up on it when I was sick and gave it to my kids ! Still eat it when I am sick...chicken and noodles or chicken and rice !
I saw a "Mandy in the Making" cooking video where she made some chicken noodle soup and used a mixture of large elbows and bowties. That helps if someone doesn't like the texture of the noodles or just wants something different.
Years ago, my Asthma & Allergy doctor told me he would write a prescription for chicken soup if he could! ALWAYS have it in mt pantry👍🏻
I loved the chicken Lipton dry soup mix.
I love Campbell Chicken Noodle Soup!😊🌹
@@bite-sizedshorts9635 Great idea!
A little caveat on thermometers: I needed a new one about three years ago (do the math) and I picked up the only one the grocery store had. After I got home, I discovered the darn thing wouldn't work unless you hooked it up to a phone app and gave it a lot of personal information! I said no way am I giving that company all that info just so I can take my blooming temperature! I threw it out and found one online that was JUST a thermometer and not a free database for some company.
@@randimochamer6284 no they make a mercury free thermometer, they are harder to find than the digital
You gotta be kidding me? I’d have thrown it away, too. Bunch of crap! Thx.
Add wrist and ankle immobilizers to your medical preps. They come in handy.
Great idea. I have a few from years ago.
Yes, I bought a knee brace and finger splints. Just in case.
Yes!! Also crutches and/or canes. We kept my husband's crutches but they're WAY too tall for the rest of us, so getting ones for short people is on my list of things to buy.
And finger splints
@@katie7748are the crutches not adjustable?
When I was a kid, my whole family got the flu. 7 people with one bathroom. I think we would not have made it if the preacher hadn't brought us oranges! And prayer. I still remember that orange 50 years later as the first thing I had kept down for a week! Vitamin C!!! And firstly prayer. Thanks for your videos!!! Stay safe.
Alka Seltzer has always knocked aches from flu like symptoms. It's hard to explain why it works, but seems to
Alka Setzer Plus or regular ? I tell everyone that Alka Seltzer Plus is great for migraines…knocks them out fast. It does contain sodium if someone can not do sodium.
Yup, Alka Seltzer Plus cold, really does make ya feel much better..
The price is ridiculous ! 9.95 at dollar and 14.95 at Kroger. I’ve been stocking up and price shopping!
It contains aspirin
@@Offgridlivin I remember those skinny bottles so well! When I would come in from school with a headache my Dad would fix one for me.
My brother just spent 6 thousand $$$ on a snake bite for one of their pups….. we cannot afford that - so i went through my homeopathic library and bought some tinctures to add in animal preps
Ledum Pal is a homeopathic remedy from snakebites. I got mine from Washington Homeopathic Company in 30c strength pills.
Which tinctures may I ask?
Kitty suplies .snotty nose ..sneezy respiratory ???
PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL FLORIDIANS IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE IDALIA FOR PROTECTION, NO LOSS OF LIFE, NO LOSS OF PROPERTY, AND NO LOSS OF ELECTRICITY
Went this weekend and stocked up. Vicks vapor rub, cold meds, sinus meds, cough drops, gatorade and juice
Thank you you’ve given me a few things I need to get .🙂
Yes-Vicks Vapor Rub! I always have that and use it all the time. Mom was right about it all those years ago!
So proud! Yew dew yew !
That Vaporub is awesome! Rub it on chest and back, wear a loose t shirt to bed, and it seems that overnight, it really works to clear you up!
@@DesertDweller74 My husband puts a little in his mustache before bed too when he’s sick
I believe everyone should have extra acetaminophen, ibuprofen for pain and fevers. Cough drops, Mucinex DM. Day Quil and Night Quil. Make sure you have over the counter medications for your children.
yes!
Learn how to make herbal remedies for these ailments. You will be happy you did.
I'd add stuff for constipation and diarrhea, as well as diphenhydramine for allergic reactions and Dramamine for motion sickness.
@@MyOtherCheek Agree, the three things I must add. At the local DG, they had all these meds on the $1 aisle. I would grab diff ones each time. 👍
I have sent everything g for my grandkids.
I am so delighted that you mentioned molasses and horhound. I am 64 and was watching something last night that suddenly I remembered horhound cough drops that mama always had. Hadn't even thought of it in all these years and it came to mind, now today you mentioned it! Isn't it funny how things like that happen? had not heard that in so many years I had forgotten, now I'll probably hear it several times! And yes I love molasses, I keep it to put in baked beans but I'll be grabbing a couple of bottles next grocery run. I want to suggest iodine for wound care and castor oil too.
There's a nearby Aussie farm encouraging horhound for coughs. Someone said it's sad farmers rip it out. If they had it like me they'd know why. My yards are smothered in it. Like nettle there is such thing as too much of something
When we were kids our grandmother would give us horehound cough drops, ick, but we tolerated them.
Also a very horrible elixir called Dr. John or Dr. Frank, made your body involuntarily shiver it was sooo horrible.
Do they still sell them in the USA?
Ricola cough drops I think are best
@@ohioitis200horehound candy is sold all over the south
When I hear things I need to get, I pause the video & go put it in my Walmart cart. I use it as my grocery list even though I might not buy them at Walmart. Then whenever I’m out running errands I can look at my cart to remind me of things I wanted to get.

@@katherinecairns03 great minds think alike. 👍
A few years ago, I made a "covid" basket with all the items we might need. It was such a great idea, that I made one for each person in the family. This way, we can just open the linen closet and grab a basket and everything we may need is in there, no matter the illness. Great video!
cranberry softgels, garlic softgels, pumpkin seed oil softgels and Uricalm Max stored for UTIs
Hello🤗 please where can I buy uricalm max for UTI's?? I have reoccurring UTI, yeast infections lately, prob due to my Intestinal issues...???

Molasses also makes brown sugar. Thanks for the reminders. I'm with you. Please add Zinc to your list. Helps strengthen your immune system. Take care.
Zine is 🔑 to wellness 😊
Our home is never without Benadryl or equivalent antihistamine. Years ago I had an allergic reaction to a prescription which gave me lockjaw. Called my doctor, and she had me take the maximum dose of Benadryl. Totally knocked me out, which she warned me was going to happen, but it also stopped the allergic reaction.
If you don’t use the thermometer often buy extra batteries. Learned the hard way.
I ordered some non mercury old school ones for emergencies 💞
I keep several of the really old glass thermometers. The newest of those uses red dyed alcohol instead of mercury.
@@MesquiteFarmer-mc3ty where did you find them
AZO for UTI is a must have here. Apple cider vinegar pills help stave off UTI .
Absolutely. Same here
Cranberry juice (unsweetened) works well, too. Make sure it's real juice, though.
Also Uva Ursi also called bear berry for urinary support.
You can buy cranberry pills too folks!
My daughter cannot take any OTC vitamins. She drinks a tablespoon of molasses in warm water twice a week and eats a wholistic diet. She just had a complete blood panel done and although she has many health issues her vitamin and mineral panel was spot on.
I've heard some very intelligent professionals say if they could only have one thing for health, they'd choose blackstrap molasses!!! 😉
My husband and I listened to PB's last YTube video so when you came on with this I told myself I didn't need to be hit with a brick!! We are always pretty well stocked with medical supplies but I think I will beef it up some. Ace bandages in all sizes, finger splints, etc. We love your determination!!❤
Now available as well, are lidocaine gels and patches for topical relief.
A few years back I bought some of the old mercury thermometers.. love old fashioned things
Their batteries don't die 😊
Oral or Bum bum? Just joking 🤣😂
@@SoCalRvca nope lol
Thankful I have 2 mercury thermometers my mom had. I trust those the most😀
The Vermont Country Store has lots of old timely things from meds to candy.
There is a special product that some people don't know about. It's called Blood Stop and it WORKS! I fell recently and jammed my elbow into a kitchen drawer handle. I didn't realize how bad it was until I looked into the mirror. My husband can't drive right now so my daughte in law took me to the hospital. The nurse asked how I managed to get the bleeding to stop so well and I told her. She had never heard of the product. My "cut" took 8 stitches! I found it at Walmart, but I went back a couple days later to get some more and they were out of it. I'm going to get more as soon as I can even though I have a pkg left,
Very warm Jello (the gelatin not the pudding) is super soothing for a sore throat - PLUS you get some protein in the gelatin.
And collagen it’s great for aching joints 😊
Hi Patera, my sister in Christ and crisis! I also think of you as Patera my pantry pusher :) My Grandpa (Pappy) is 108 years old in Heaven and he would often have an oblong sleeve of horehound candies that he would keep in his shirt pocket and share with us-- so to me it sounds so yummy and I will be getting some asap! So thanks for the reminder! And my Grandma(Pappy's wife) is almost 104 years old in Heaven and she always kept peppermints in her purse and in her kitchen drawers for a few reasons! My Grandparents were old timers and I learned so much from them and with current times I think I am getting a stronger understanding of what it must have been like to be from the Greatest Generation and why they lived out the rest of the years the way that they did always being so cautious, so mindful of their pennies, and so thankful for all their Blessings which truly were abundant for them. My Grandparents did not live poor as adults as my Pappy was a glass cutter for PPG and he owned his own business setting diamonds in his little shop inside his home after working his daytime job at the plant cutting glass. And my Grandma was a mindful homemaker and worked many years at JCPenney''s department store to pay for presents for her grandchildren she said. BUT... the depression when they grew up caused an everlasting impression on them for their lifetime and they shared that with us thankfully. I see you as a mindful Shepard trying to keep us on the right path. So Thank YOU Sweet Woman. Bless you and your family. And Blessings to this community as we are all trying to live our best lives in this uncertainty!
For the first couple of months of my chemo treatments the only thing i could eat was canned soup, literally it was the only thing I could stomach. Not even my home canned soup worked just Campbell's. My hubby went out and bought me 30 cans of chicken noodle, tomato and vegetable soup so if i couldn't stomach one he made me another. Small portions got me through and im grateful.
Today we had to go into town and we grabbed some cold meds and a few other things, wally world shelves of cold meds were definitely thin and empty in places. I found the meds on the bottom shelf and if you didn't look you wouldn't have see seen it. Preparing but SO NOT looking forward to the crap coming down the pipe. Prayers and peace people!!

Panty liners make good bandages also. Worked as RN for the navy for 20 years. Don't knock it if you have not ever used them as bandages for large areas
That's great to know! Thank you for that! Emergency Essentials has two great medical kits on hand that are currently on sale right now as well. Nice to have an all in one inclusive stored in one place and one you may take with you in case we need to leave our homes in a worse case scenario ..
I carry panty liners, pads in 2 sizes, and even a few tampons. An old medic told me how useful they were in a first aid kit
There is NOTHING like Campbell’s chicken noodle soup when cold season hits. It’s psychologically from my childhood the most comforting canned food to have. Never without it. Ha!
I was super sick with bronchitis for a month last year. I craved chicken noodle soup.

God bless you guys many blessings to y'all ❤❤❤ GOD BLESS AND STAY SAFE 🙏❤ I am in south Georgia but we are prepared 🙏.
I grew up using horehound cough drops, they really work great for coughs and soothing a sore throat, and I absolutely love the taste of them, and molasses too. My dad and I have always loved drinking milk with molasses stirred in it 😋
And when my kids were little, the first time that one of them became constipated, my granny told me to put some molasses in their milk and it would fix the problem, and it surely did. I always listened to my granny’s advice, after all she was a wealth of knowledge and experience when it came to children since she gave birth and raised twelve of her own! I surely do miss her presence immensely ❣️
I miss mine also.❤
Anti diarrhea medication is often overlooked but so very important. Also anti nausea medicine.
Emetrol for children is the best !!! Hard to find and about $8 but well worth it !!!
I like Nauzene tablets but can't always find them.
Just stocked up yesterday at Dollar General on cold meds, $1.00 a box, can’t beat it!! Lorie 😊
My Dad bought so many in March he gave me a bunch😅too😊
I love the dollar shelf at dollar general
I just went to a dollar general yesterday because I keep reading comments on here about how great it is. I have STILL never seen a dollar section or hardly anything at all that is a dollar. They must all be different.
Well Patara, I thought I was all stocked up until this video. Writing a list to fill those holes for my med cabinet.
I found I was out of Azo for bladder infections. The foil in the packages deteriorate from the medication, so the few I had were trashed.
@@gingertexan If you have a Costco membership I think Costco sells the azo packaged differently.
@audreylopez3851 no Costco here, but I went to HEB and will be checking at Sam's. WE use these fairly frequently because my husband has a medical condition that causes frequent UTI's.
Oil of Oregano is great for congestion too. Put in tea, rub on bottom of feet. It works. Also, 1/2 tsp ground Thyme, 1/4 tsp ground ginger and 1-2 tsp honey mixed in 1 cup boiling water is great to clear your lungs and inflammation - tastes good too!
Can you just rub the oil on your feet or would it be to strong?
Oregano oil capsules are anti parasitic
Remember the old dial timer our hair dressers used when doing our hair? I picked a few of them for grid down canning. When I’m canning I want to know 30 min, 60 min, 90 min
I made your cough syrup this past week. We were gifted sorghum and I had no idea what to do with it. Problem solved!
Work gloves are also a medical prep. You can avoid all sorts of injuries, cuts, splinters, infections, etc. with work gloves. (Don't ask me how I know).
When my family was sick I made them homemade chicken noodle soup from bone broth and put a lot of homegrown oregano in it. They recovered quickly, but I got sick after that. My husband can’t cook anything that fancy, so it was Campbells to the rescue for me! 😂❤
We must have the same husband!
As a 2nd generation American, I have never heard of molasses on biscuits! Thank you for sharing.
Wow! You have to try it! It is delicious 😋! I am from Louisiana and grew up on it!
@beckyhartley3740 To think I have molasses in my cupboard, and I have never tried it on anything! I only used it in recipes.
My grandpa used to put a slice of cheese that had the red rind on his hot biscuits and then cover them with molasses or alaga syrup. If he didn't have cheese, he used real butter.
@@suewallace289 That red rind sharp cheddar is my absolute favorite cheese, I had trouble finding it sometimes in 2020-21 so I now keep some of it frozen.

Last time, you reminded me to get Poison Ivy ointment & pills! You're a keeper, young lady...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
Jewel weed is free if you can find some growing near you. Best for poison ivy
Wipe the nasal application area off with alcohol wipes after use. As well as the inside of the cap. You will get longer than a couple days use.
Yes! I am always telling people stop taking an expectorant and a suppressant at the same time. You want a productive cough to relieve the congestion in your lungs. It's that congestion and mucus sitting in your lungs that can bring on bronchitis or pneumonia. You go girl you're preaching my language
Remember to check the expiration dates on all of the items you have and buy.
The dates are hard to read on many products, so I use a Sharpie and mark the month and year really large on the top. It makes is much easier to rotate stock.
Correct, especially for aspirin. Turns toxic after expiration date
I've taken stuff past expired dates. Depends if it was open or used or store sealed. But grew up saying the medicine might loose some of its strength but still was used.
Absolutely!
I do that too.
I bought something the other day that had such a small print. We had to get a magnifying glass to read it.
Definitely. I just threw out a couple of old tubes of antibiotic ointment. The dates were 2008 and 2009 but we were still using them. I don't have a problem with things being a little out of date but that was a little much.
Molasses also works for restless leg syndrome… it’s a staple in my house
I love the Lipton box soups, my favorite when I'm sick😂
Usually we make homemade soup. BUT… I’m with you 100% on the Campbells Chicken Noodle soup when you’re down for the count!!
Campbell chicken noodles soup is comfort food!
Stocking up on honey is a smart move. Not only sweetener but awesome in medical aid

Replacement toothbrushes for after an illness.
Gallon jugs of DISTILLED water to use with neti pot or nasal flushes.
I and been known to dip in bleach then run thru dishwasher on hi heat to sanitize mine when I didn’t have spares
Be sure to carry a small medical bag with some of the items that you just showed us. Bad weather will be coming soon. Sometimes, it is a vehicle breakdown or road construction and a cough drop would sure help with that scratchy throat.

The weather is changing and it's always good to be prepared in case the electricity goes out. I forgot to add get extra usb cords and chargers for your phone. An emergency battery for your phone. God Bless you!
As well as peppermint and ginger to soothe the stomach - licorice works for me. When I feel like a cold or congestion is coming on - Oscillococcinum knocks it down 95% of the time.
Walmart sells the soft peppermints all year round.
I buy the dry packs chicken noodle soup and I stir an egg in it at the end when sick 👍👍👍
I keep the chicken noodle soup on the shelf also, but when I'm sick, cream of chicken soup, made with less water so it's more like a gravy, put over toast is great. Always can keep that down.
Add some milk
A magnesium tablet at bedtime helps me when I have trouble sleeping.
I'll be honest, I have my own tiny pharmacy supplied by Dollar Tree over the last year or two. All the above mentioned, including ace wraps, joint stabilizers, just about anything you can think of for first aid. They work well enough in a pinch and are cheap enough that you can replenish if expired, as long as available.
Same!
Cracker Barrel restaurants sell the old-fashioned Horehound candy as well as other flavors, like cinnamon, licorice, etc.
An old fashioned glass thermometer never runs low on batteries.
My medical supplies are out of control😂. I decided that I would try to be medical help for folks if there was ever a time when hospitals weren't the place to go😉. I have collected everything from aspirin to suture kits to chest seals. Working on a tincture library and medicinal garden too.
Molasses!! I knew I'd forgotten something important...thank you! Though now all I can think of is molasses on melting butter on biscuits...
Don’t forget to get extra thick, sanitary, napkins. They can be used to hold a wound from bleeding. And also protect if you’ve had some kind of surgery rub, you can put that inside of a bra or inside your pant line that works well to keep them from rubbing infection, and
Stocked up on bandaids of various sizes and betadine. Cough drops are on my to do list and mucinex. Stocked up on vitamin D3 and vitamin K 2. Have extra Vitamin C and zinc as well. Disinfecting wipes are on my shelf too!
If you are taking prescription medications be sure to check online or call your pharmacist to check for interactions.
For the advanced medical kit, needle and unbleached, natural fiber thread, staffs of various sizes for splints, duct or gorilla tape or horse fetlock tape which dries to a cast-like setting.
Nice. I have some of these things but I'll be looking into some others you mention.❤
I will I could buy the stomach that I need for the needle and thread!
Put the needle and thread and some gauze in a 1/2 pint or pint jar and can it in you pressure canner and they will be sterile.
