This game is a masterpiece. I have both versions and I will be using the new version from here on because of the updated rules and board. The original Japanese version however is a special piece of art that I will never part with.
Oh thank you so much for mentioning how beautiful it is! Bought it a month ago on pre-order, almost only French Canadian websites had it (still haven't seen them on English Canadian sites) and they were going fast and selling out. But on BBG, almost all the people (who own the first version) were calling it ugly. Are you freaking kidding me? This art makes it accessible to all and the colored are incredible, not just people who like Ukiyoe art (I love Ukiyoe here and there but not a whole game and most people are like that, too). Please show your love to the artist on BBG if you go there and love the new art :D There's a lot of negative comments to make it up to the artist!
I love the original look of the game for sure but this production is just stunning. I think most negativity is just coming from people who are sad that their very out of print, hard to find and expensive game is now available for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for watching!

this re-release was on my radar, but the english edition isn't currently as easy to come by in my region!
But they did announce that there is plans to bring out a version of in dutch in the 2nd half of 2022.

This game rocks. My favorite part is picking characters and placing them in stalls based on thinking about how best to help others. If you pick poorly then no one will go to your stalls and you may do poorly. That's such a novel concept in a euro game. It's usually me-me-me. It's a pseudo-economic game. Everything else in this game feels like just another euro to me, but still love it.
I’m buying this gane. It has all I like. And the passionate way you speak about it really makes me think that Whalen a game has something to inspire sone to talk like this must be a great one.
It looks great. Is there any chance of seeing a playthrough?

Got this game a couple of months ago and I play it at 2 mostly and we love it! The extra character is really easy to manage and definitely tightens up the board. :)
Apparently not that biased a review after all. It seems that the judges of Spiel des Jahres agree with you whole heartedly. This game is now in the same halls as Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan.
Can kite master who allows u to swap csrds can swap himself ?
I take it no solo mode? I would otherwise like the sound of this game.
I don't get it. What's fun about it? Why is it enjoyable to play? I play games of all sorts and have for many years, and Iki is the first game I literally haven't understood the point of. And I *want* to, because this is driving me crazy.
