Out Run (アウト ラン Auto Ran?) is an arcade game released by Sega in 1986. It was designed by Yu Suzuki and developed by Sega AM2. The game was a critical and commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling video games of its time[5][6] and winning the Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year.[6][7] It is notable for its innovative hardware (including a moving cabinet), pioneering graphics and music, innovative features such as offering the player choices in both soundtrack and non-linear routes, and its strong theme of luxury and relaxation. In retrospective interviews, Yu Suzuki has classified Out Run not as a racing game, but as a "driving" game.

Outrun sure did have excellent graphics for 1987.
And Music.
And cool steering wheel
Old Ferrari.
@@booboo5750 the average age is 16 everyone over 30 is old here
Bring it back please for ps4 though “flashback games”
For an 80's racing game it is truly amazing. The visuals are great and the concept is just pure fun.
Cruising USA
Racing Red the music totally ties the game together big time!
Just like road rash
That's why Outrun is so famous.
Pure 80's. All style over substance.

Boy did this game get a few of my quarters back in the day
Mine too
Yessir
you read my thoughts. This game, paper boy and this other helicopter game.
Marty McFly yep me too. Fucking things are designed that way though. This dude is fucking good!
Arcades were on their way out when I was a kid sadly. I know the arcade industry has experienced creative destruction, but I hated to see it go.
So glad I'm old enough to remember this and have seen the evolution of videogames. Today's kids just aren't going to see the kind of advances we did.
You can buy a smaller arcade version of street fighter at Walmart nowadays, so not entirely true.
Gotta disagree with you because games like this will never go away. Arcades aren't like they used to be but the games are still there in all types of ways.
@Fatmac252 Super Nintendo era here😁🎮lol
I was born in 1986 and that was certainly old enough to see the advances of video games.
I started playing "Super Mario Bros 3" and "Mega Man 2" for the NES, then I experienced the release of the Super Nintendo, then the PlayStation, then the N64, followed by the DreamCast, GameCube etc.
@@Peter_1986 Niceee😁I'm from 89 but I have to admit that PS2 won the eternal TROPHY 🏆speacially with GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 and eventually my all time favorite GTA SAN ANDREAS😎
This music is oddly comforting.
Man, all the quarters I dropped in this game as a kid and I never beat. Had to wait 30 years later to watch someone beat it on RUclips...LMAO!
kdeezo326 and they beat it inside 7 mins lo
I used to love this game. When I first saw Outrun, I remember being blown away by the graphics.
To me; the greatest, coolest, enjoyable arcade car racing game ever created in video game history!
I remember the first time I ever played this arcade game inside of John Italiano's pizza shop in the summer of "1987" growing up as a kid in Brooklyn!
Believe it or not; it was cool to hang out with a crowd of neighborhood kids for 2 or 3 hours sometimes watching to see who could play the game the best for highest score or end the game!
The awesome times, memories, culture and overall human condition of the 1980s!
Barely could reach the steering wheel, with the gear stick and pedals!
The absolute only game I would ever play anytime the few times I went to "Chuck E Cheese" or the arcades in Times Square(the real Times Square of the 1980s/1990s!
Thank you so much for this nostalgic video game video upload!
Spent hours on this game at the local arcade but unfortunately was never any good at it. That's the first time I've ever seen the finish line 😂
It's too difficult, what were they thinking? Back at the time , better graphics mean higher difficult
The controls were too soft and crappy. This thing was a money pit🤣
me to. don,t know how much i spent .still happy days??
MC BONEY ..the steering wheel of the video game was very bad...
it was designed to make us lose, so we pour more money in. Im sure this video was made using replays, save load states :D
Literally would be 5 to 10 people crowded around this game back in the day. Game changer when it came out on so many levels
Ain't that the truth. You had never played a game until you had sat down in the luxury moving cabinet! Back in the day, Outrun was at the cutting edge of what was possible with video games. Sega proved with Outrun, why they were the undisputed masters of the 2D sprite. Their super scaler technology threw them around like confetti, to create the pseudo 3D visuals that became their hallmark. The music in this game is also worthy of praise. The four iconic tunes (think about it) were light years ahead of their time, back in the 80's, even by today's standards, they are still decent. Outrun rightly stands proud as one of the greatest games of all time, easily within the top ten.
Loved the game for its historical stance. But those accidents would fick up ones run. Outrunners was much better in game play but this was and is still a racing classic. And that ocean breeze sound effect is still in my head to this day
+magburner easily one of my favorites still play it today what a game favorite all-time race car game!
Nostalgia might be my favorite thing EVER!!!
@@magburner I absolutely agree with you on that.
I was about 13-14 when this came out, we used to head to the nearest arcade to watch whoever was playing at the time on our dinner hour at school.
At the time it was ground breaking and there was always a big crowd around the machine, the good old days!!!
+Alun Brown know the machine. Mumbles lad, here. :-)
Ain't nothing like your first nut
Hands down, one of the best arcade games ever developed. Along with Afterburner II, both were game changers.
100% was the first one to finish the game when it came out in our Arcade place. Good memories, ChaseHQ was another good one.
This is all you could here in arcades when I was a kid. You'd here the music and the sounds ten minutes before you got near the arcade. Brings back all the excitement of the sea side as a kid. It really does. Memories of my dad and good happy times. Thanks for uploading.
Listening to this takes me back when things were simple.
Sega made some of the best games of all time
amen to that, and still would have been if they had joined sony when asked in 1999...imagine the games we would be playing now lol
In the 80s.
Sega was always an innovator with great titles. The Sega Master System was great
Some seriously nice driving on stage 5....a lot of trick obstacles
This has just brought back memories I had completely forgotten. What a game!
Songs are just like bookmarks in life
This was my fave childhood arcade game! The gear lever proper steering wheel squeeling tyres love it
Ah, this brings back memories.
I was car-obsessed as a kid, so this was one of my go-to arcade games; that and Chase HQ. Couldn't tell you how much money I must have spent in them... (Too much!) - Could never complete either of them though; those fifth stages always kicked my ass! :D
the 3ds version of this game is absolutely amazing
You have some serious Outrun skills!
What a nostalgia trip this is. Love the music!!
Wow!!! this took me back to the Days when I first saw this game in the Pizza Parlor in the Bronx. Wow, I smell the Garlic and Cheese as I watch this!!! Great Video. Thanks
1. This was as close to I got to driving a Testarossa...and it was beautiful.
2. If someone builds a time machine to go back to the 80s let me know.
3. Nostalgia is making me smile...this game should be in an episode of Stranger Things.
めっちゃ懐かしい😆
小学生ぐらいの時にゲーセンに あったこれ
I played it 30 years ago. My God, this is a classic 🤩
The memory of childhood, seeing a great progress on the quality of pictures on those games.
I spent hundreds of dollars in quarters on this and loved every minute, man this takes me back
One of the best arcade games ever designed, along with Afterburner II. Was a game changer, and still as fresh as it was almost 40 years ago. Thank you for the amazing upload 🙌😃❤️
For a kid in the early 90s this was magic, I remember the feeling of playing this game as a kid
Nothing like seeing what the technology was like during the year you were born. Makes you feel old haha
After 32 years, this is the 1st time I saw the ending of this legend game haHhaahahhaaha
I used to play Outrun in the arcade and at home on my Sega MegaDrive 16bit console. This game along with SuperHangOn (motorbike racing) & FifaSoccer were my favorites... thanks for sharing 👍
あぁ~懐かしいですね。音楽が耳に残りますね。
Y pensar que esto era lo mejor era salir de la escuela y ir a viciar
Countless hours spent on my Sega Master System trying to beat this game. Thanks I've never seen the end until now
A missing gap from my youth filled in. Thank you.
Played this so so many times. Miss these games in arcades.
Passing breeze is my favorite music playing this game.
I use to love playing this at the arcade!
Going to the local arcade to play this game as a kid was always great. Definitely makes me nostalgic of my childhood.
I loved this game and thhe newer arcade version of Outrun too.
I used to play this game back in the day... still loving the soundtrack... souvenirs!
Spent many of hours playing this in my youth at the arcades while on holiday in Blackpool, good memories !!!
a great driving game from back in the day. got this on my mame wii.
In my opinion, It was amazing! My favourite game of my childhood with this fantastic soudtrack.
What emotional and pleasant remembers when when I played to this Arcade game, during the summers on the Adriatic Coast in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy.
Nicely done! ....drifting, before drifting was cool!
OutRun and the sequel are two reasons why I love going to the arcades!
The Ferrari "horse" logo flip itself when the car is turning left. GREAT MUSIC BY THE WAY! :D
A grear bit of driving of a timeless SEGA classic.... if you've not played the hydraulic cabinet version, you've not experienced Out Run!!!!
I had a friend who's dad was an arcade repairman and was rich one of the arcades he had was outrun and would invite my family over to play arcades he had a warehouse full of arcades that he bought so no wasting quarters for me on this game
Hello everyone! I pleasantly remember when I played to this faboulous video game, during my childhood, in the early '90s, precisely in the summer in Marconi's Resort, in Alba Adriatica, Italy.
Out round the intro the frst Drive whem was Young kid 1990 and now i am good Drive, Thanks for this beatiful good Drive Sega 1987.
Loved this game. smoke a lil on the way to the arcade when I was young
アウト ラン!懐かしい!上手いなぁ!(≧∇≦)
当時のゲーセンは攻略本なんな無しでもゲームをクリアしてる猛者が何人か居てそのプレイによく目を丸くしてたもんでした。(苦笑)
Nostalgia 🙌 Remember playing this game as a kid. Arcade room in the back of the pizza shop.
i remember playing this arcade once at a hotel that had an arcade :P took me awile to find it. it felt like rad racer to me at the time.
hey i saw ur nb comment!
I think outrun is the best racing games ever made ..
you managed to make me smile :)
Brilliant, an almost flawless race. I prefer to go left, left, right, right, right. :)
Dam I miss the 80’s
In realta' da piccolo nei primi anni '90 ricordo di aver giocato a questo mitico gioco in una sala giochi, per l'esattezza, al Lido Marconi ad Alba Adriatica. La spensieratezza in estate!
Had this game for the Sega Master System, back in the day. I never
managed to finish it, but I came close. I was only 11 years old in 87.
Oh my god take me back to Skegness in the mid 80s to replay this in the arcades. I'd be about ten at the time. Best game best days ever.
This is the only racing game I remember as a kid. While I have never reached any of the goals, I would be satisfied just passing the first checkpoint.
classic game.
Thank you for the video.
車で思い出した。懐かしい。大体、季節だか昼夜だか変わるところまで行けたら頑張ってるなみたいなのがあった記憶がうっすら、、ある(笑)
Always loved that sea following the curvature of the beach instead of staying levelled.. Great game. Still fun.
Thx for the memories!!!!
Damn I was thinking about this game last week, havent played this since 89-90.Sega system brings me back wish I still had it
Damn its all coming back to me
Eventhough i was 4 at the time
I remember playing this arcade game on several occasions in the 1980s.
I remember on 2 or 3 occasions managing to complete the course and reach the finish line
WOW my favorite arcade game back in the days !👏😍
Brought back so many memories this and pole position
First game I played on TV. Reminds me of the old days :)
came across this video while watching a Miami vice episode!
so cool!!
I got the finish line many times in the arcade game.....,amazing memories...... woooow!!!
Loved this arcade game. I kept slamming into a billboard though. Fun just the same.
30th anniversary. I remember the first time I saw this game and my jaw dropped at the graphics, haha
We all gonna sleep on the fact trucks and 18 wheelers doing at least 200 km/hr? 😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing
Every other vehicle has no problem sticking to the curves either... you think, the Porsches and the Corvettes, ok. the BMW convertible maybe... but the little jeeps, the VW beetles and the 18 wheeler too?!
absolutly great this game😍
Damn I played this almost 25 years ago and even there it was already old :,-)
5:18 Shoot! Kept your composure through all that traffic.
Che bella la Ferrari TestaRossa Cabriolet... Con la Biondona di fianco... E che musica... !!😉🔝👍🏻😁😊 Fantastic Sound 🔝👍🏻!!!😊😊😁😉💯💯💯💯🔝😉
I forgot about this game. When I was 7, I played it for weeks in a row. Now I am 41, that is 32 years ago. Where did the time go?
Damn this brings back memories of playing this in arcades as a student nurse
that's the point. thanks for stopping by.
I'll never forget the first time I saw the sit down version in Blackpool when I was a kid...blew my mind.
I remember finally beating this game - can't remember which ending. It was the deluxe sit-down version, and I was surrounded by other kids watching on. I wanted to see the end sequence, but immediately got up and walked calmly away, like it was no big deal. Like a boss, before that was a thing lol. Damn that music takes me back.
This thing melts my heart,, game boy Nintendo era
Loved our run in the arcade at the movie theater in Tanforan in the mid 90’s arcade outrun and championship sprint was the shit!
This game and the music take me back. Fun times.
Omg I remember I thought this game was so hard! I never got very far in it but I kept trying. So nostalgic 🥰👾
Beautiful game even though I sucked at it but I loved watching pro tearing up through the tarmac, desert sands and even the snow. Millenials missed out on some classic games.
Incredible!
So many hrs spent in my cousins apartment playing this.
Eu era viciado nesse game!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
nostalgic game this Out Run for the arcades, a great classic.
sega rocked the arcade bation with their video games. Epic car game & the other air plane game after burner
Great upload
Probably my favorite racing game from back in the day. The popularity of Miami Vice at the time I'm sure helped make Outrun noticeable.
Love it. Used to play it. Reminds me of F Zero!
