    @10thscalegarage Something that I noticed when I bought mine: the gyro has two modes. Mine came in AVCS mode and it was awful, switched it to normal mode and it was GREAT! Totally changed the car. I swapped all my good electronics over from my RMX and the redcat is my new favorite drifter. The gyro and servo are MUCH better on the RDS imo. The stock ESC and motor are basically identical from what I saw, except the RDS comes with a 26T pinion vs the RMX comes with a 22. That extra wheel speed is needed on my local track for the long sweeping turns, and the RDS cleaned house compared to the RMX out of the box. You have to spend more money on the RMX just to have adjustable camber. RDS all the way. My local drift guru tossed it around right out of the box and gave it two thumbs up, everyone was pretty impressed with it.

    The open diff has thick fluid in it which simulated a limited slip diff(100$ upgrade on RMX 2.0). The point of having everything high center of gravity is to get the car to roll into grip, I have my RMX set up the exact same way. The toe out in the front and toe in in the rear is normal and is on the RMX from factory. The Redcat RDS was designed by Shane from Tandem RC, which now works at Redcat. I love your channel, but this one was a huge miss for me. Do some research first next time. Please, opinions are fine but miss information is another thing.

    Pretty much all of your complaints came from a position of lacking knowledge and experience. The gyro needed to be configured for endpoints, that would have cleared up all of your concerns over the steering speed. The alignment seems pretty typical for how guys are setting up their cars these days. The diff is not open either. It is a sealed gear diff with a light oil. Again, the light diff oil is typical for setups these days.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  Год назад

      The gain knob on the gyro essentially does the same thing as the steering exponential knob on the transmitter. It doesn’t change the end points. There is no “configuration” to be done on the gyro, other than setting it up for steering reverse, and adjusting the gain. While a few degrees of toe out is typical in a drift setup (see the toe out on the MST) the toe out is excessive on the RDS, as if to make up for the ackerman adjustment. The diff IS open. I can’t name another RWD drift chassis, rtr or otherwise that has an open diff. Maybe there is, but none that I have ever seen. RER15036 is the part number for the diff. If look it up, you can clearly see the spider gears. The weight of diff oil has nothing to do with the diff being open or not.

    • @DJ.1001
      @DJ.1001 Год назад +1

      @@10thScaleGarage you have to program the endpoints in the gyro. Redcat put out a 3 minute video on the setup process on their Redcat Racing page when the car came out. It's also in the manual.

    • @HBFBajaRacer
      @HBFBajaRacer Год назад +2

      @@10thScaleGarage I understand you guys are new to drifting and don't have much experience with it, so just trying to educate you guys, this is all in the manual. The gyro has end point adjustment using the end point button on it. When you get it into endpoint setting mode, you can adjust your angle with the dual rate knob on the controller.
      The dial controls the gain, which is how much it will countersteer depending on what angle that you're at. The gyro has both a normal and AVCS mode, depending on how you want it to countersteer.
      A spool/locked diff is extremely slow compared to an open diff in RC drifting, and literally any chassis that isn't the MST RMX RTR has an open diff. The diff is specific to this car and not borrowed from another model.

    Great video, but I think you missed a bunch of the adjustability on the Redcat. Motor position is adjustable and I am sure that makes a lot of handling changes, and Redcat says you can add thicker diff oils to the diff. The body is a bit hideous. And there is the Builders kit now which is just the chassis and can skip that hideous body.
    Also, the "entry" level Redcat drift cars are $180 Lightning EXP Drift and the Thunder Drift, just sayin'....

    • @sscobrapride
      @sscobrapride Год назад

      Entry level drift cars like the lightning are awd and dont actually drift. You can change the motor position on just about any of the drift chassis out if the box, and its $14 motor mount if not. You can change shock oil in any of the cheap kits too. There are better RTR for the $, MST and Yokomo, or you can build a D5 MR if your trying to go cheap for a kit. but a $300 rds builder kit is a total waste of time and money when you can get quality for less in an RDX, yd-2, RMX, or D5 MR
