Totally agree with you the steering angle and alignment can have quite an impact on drivability. I remembered to use your amain link ordering some setup tools. I've been using the basic camber and toe tools so far but wanted to try an actual setup station. Thanks for all your helpful videos, it's make the rc drift scene more accessible (at least for me) 👍
I bought the car few weeks ago and I find it very interesting for start and maybe for made the first drift race I bought the car few weeks ago and I find it very interesting for start to drift I changed motor and the esc with roket 120a e 10.5 T
I bought the RDS Kit. Pretty excited about the attention to detail from Redcat on the RDS. BUT --- I didn't want to buy another rtr electronics package. Wanted to ask you what electrics would you recommend to run on the RDS Kit? Radio/rcvr is going to be Futaba but, I'm very interested in the rest of the electric components you'd recommend. /// Enjoyed the video on tips before you run the RDS! Well done.
Hi, I've been watching (subscribed) your videos on drifting and was wondering what your opinion was on running a non-sensored brushless system in a D5 (mid motor). Specifically a 60a 4370kv system (inexpensive). Thank you
Honestly - instead of going that route, I would rather run a brushed setup. It would have more control than a cheap brushless setup. Either that, or just keep saving a little more money until you can go sensored.
Just got the RDS, after watching this video and setting up the avcs, and the endpoints, the servo never brings it all the way back to center. Brand new right out the box, I feel like there is some binding happening.? Furthermore my front end shocks are very stiff, if I push it all the way to the ground it stays there if I pull it up it stays there as well. Shocks are as loose as I can get them
Hi there - happy to help! With the gyro setup like that, the wheels may not come back to center when sitting still...and it doesn't matter. As long as the car drives well, then it is working 100% fine. The shocks are not the issue with the front end - it is the rod ends on all of the turnbuckles. They are slightly tight from the factory. You will need to polish the balls and/or flex the turnbuckle ends to loosen them up some. Takes a little time, but then will get the front end moving very free.
I want to buy another set of wheels and drift tires for my RDS, and I need a piece of information. Can you please tell me what wheel offset is recommended for the RDS?
axle and axle stubs are likely cut with 1/2 to 1 too many threads to the shoulder at the end of the thread... a washer between the hex and wheel may help this.
Anyone who put leds in the stock body what size fits it? An also i feel like mine didn't come with the pieces that you screw in behind the led to keep it in the bucket? Unless it doesnt come with those
I got my hands on an RDS and I’m not happy with the steering system. The whole assembly is held by the screw that goes into the servo spine which is upside down. The whole assembly is very flimsy and makes the car inconsistent. Any thoughts?
@@HBFBajaRacer great idea but we gave that a try and it still wanted to make its way loose after a few minutes. I’ll add more thread lock but I’m still not really a fan.
Kinda like it but also not the rear of this car is pretty high due of the moter mounted in the back i did look at product page that the engine can be moved around. How ever i see redcat also has lowrider bodys but i see none of them drift around corners (i mean wouldnt that be funny?) not seen these RC drift cars in the EU i believe. (i could be wrong) but its nice looking things up. i have seen people put different bodys on this RDS chassis on youtube. (but the basic body it comes with i find it ugly and bulky).

I'm sorry David. You must have done something else that caused that. I am still running exactly as I show in this video, with all of the same parts that came in the car.
I think REDCAT are definitely a contender if they can up their parts support game 💯.
You should check out the Redcat page - they have all the parts in stock for this car...and they are CHEAP
This video helped me get my RDS dialed in on the steering. Thanks man. 👌
Glad it helped!
For real works like a dream

Andy - thanks for the kind words and for using the Amain link!
Glad I have been able to help!
Good video. This is one reason I like the MST better as a beginner. It is ready to go out of the box.
Every vehicle has some suggested tweaks out of the box. No matter who the manufacturer is.
Great tips. That’s great that they put those adjustments into the gyro. I’d imagine that a lot of rtr’s don’t have that feature.
You are correct!
very useful tips on this one mate

do you have a video of ur setup for this car? like camber . toe .ride height shock setup and what not ? mines needs too be setup abit i think

@RoadsideRC i apreciated it alot thank you ! 🤘 happy new years
I ordered two of these little beasties. Wonder how well one will run with some Vintage Trans Am wheels tire combo and some meticulous tuning.
I bet they will do great!

Stock wheels are a 6 offset and would recommend not going under 6 for maximum angle.
@@tandemrc73 Thanks so much! I haven't been able to find that info on any site, including Redcat's site.

Interesting!
I haven't noticed anything flimsy about it. Mine is rock solid!
@@RoadsideRC I think being plastic the servo horn/system develops a small amount of play and causes the steering system to flop up and down.

I just watched another video where they spent $500 on upgrades before even tuning the rc and tried to blame the stock equipment.

When I put it AVCS mode it still doesn’t come back slow
