Every now and then throughout the years I keep coming back here to listen to this, he should have been on the same level of fame & recognition as Prince & Bowie
THANK YOU 😊 FOR THAT UPDATE DARLING, I ALWAYS WONDERED WHATEVER BECAME OF HIM?, WHY DID HE SIMPLY DISAPPEAR? & WAS HE STILL WITH US? THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Thank you! I have wondered for so long. Thank God he is still doing what he does in such a fabulous way. I adored his music in the 80’s. I will now get to the ‘new stuff’ 💗💗
Holger Schink The whole album is so so, much better artists are out there, listen to Fernando Saunders - Cashmere Dreams, you'll realize what I'm talking.
All those people saying he was underrated. He was never underrated. He was extremely successful on his own, even though he was often compared to Prince, and he kind of look like MJ.
This is the singular example of a record company f*ucking the career of an artist over legal disputes. TTD should have been a global superstar for many years. The hardline according to was one of THE best debut albums of all time. So many good songs, brilliantly performed..
The most brillant, unique and SOULFUL vocalist of the 80s. Full of charisma and creative dancing moves, TTDA/Sananda Maitraya is ONE OF A KIND and criminally UNDERRATED.
ylekiote99999 He was a UK based singer. MJ and Prince were two different beasts. He was more popular in Europe than America. There were other great artist too. Phil Collins, Genesis, Madonna, George Michael, Elton John, The Cure, Pet shop Boys amongst others. You had also one time hit artists. But TTD was a another beast in himself. He came out of the lot for sure. Always been my favorite since "sign your name". 1987
ylekiote99999 it was because the 2nd album didn't hit it. Too many hangers on in his ear and too much freedom from the record company combined to produce something fairly inaccessible but for the Hardline alone TTD should be hailed as a genius
So relieved to have been born in the 70s and a teen in the 80s. We were so lucky to have music like this. I despair at the dross released today and I really do try to have an open mind on it. It's just so bland and without tune or originality. Terence Trent D'arby was just one of a long line of talented 80s artists.
Had the pleasure of seeing him live at the Colston Hall in Bristol. One of the best gigs I ever attended. Brilliant. I don't think he tries to be MJ at all.
Been looking for this song for months, heard it on the radio couple of times but never remember what it was called just remembered the chorus. Finally found it 🤤
The way he dances and sings always got me going, the way he could do the splits and get straight back up again, he was like a wonderful human spring just springing around, amazing. 👏👍👍💞👄
This guy was amazing!real soulful voice!i remember playing his album non stop back in 87 after school, what happened to him,he made another album that wasnt so good after that never heard from him again??
Sananda Maitreya absolutely nailed it on this track, no doubt about it! That banger right here got me hyped like crazy, bangaa! I ain't even trippin' if Sananda Maitreya used *authentic* *views* to get that mad exposure and get the ball rollin'. Truth is, plenty of other artists be doin' the same thing, Keep slayin' those beats!
His name is Berry Gordy and he ran Motown until last year. Motown was very much still active in this time period. And also he was a rip off snake so he would have probably taken all of TTD's royalty's and fucked him over big time.
My man...TTD or Sananda Maitreya as he is now known....one of the most underrated and under appreciated talents of all time...a phenomenal singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist...i met him in Italy a good few yrs ago now n he was also a top guy...his missuz was lovely too...smokin hot n very sweet...i hav nothin but love n respect for this guy n his family...much love to u Sananda, u continue to soundtrack my life and inspire me to be a better person til this day...love u brother x
This was back in the day when I was a rebellious teen who had this on cassette playing on my Bike rides to Newmarket to get out of the village and could get there before I had to flip the tape... Magic memories as I have been paralysed from the neck down for 16yrs and they're fond memories of my youth

Bowie? :)
Yes, could have been one of the greats except that he let his ego take over and no one in the industry wanted to work with him.
@@sctrh2they didn’t let him stttaaayyyyy 🎶
He's the full package, excellent singer songwriter, and performer. Plus, he's beautiful.
His hair was killer
Couldn't agree more....

What a voice. There are superstars right now who's voices don't even come up to this guys one bit!
It's just too much talent in 1 body - what an absolute legend 😅❤
Should have been the biggest star in the world during his heyday, his voice sends chills down your spine. He is so cool in this video, wow.
For a lot of modern artists this man was very underrated what a voice ❤❤
1987 on Top of The Pops he made his first appearance 🤩 My eyes were glued to the TV I didn't blink 💕❤️💕😍🔥🔥🔥

"Introducing the hardline according to" is still one of the best albums ever.
Holger Schink The whole album is so so, much better artists are out there, listen to Fernando Saunders - Cashmere Dreams, you'll realize what I'm talking.
It is for sure
@@bassbites2204 Nonsense.
find this after 27 years...my god so many good memories..i'm crying now while i'm listening to this legendary song
All those people saying he was underrated. He was never underrated. He was extremely successful on his own, even though he was often compared to Prince, and he kind of look like MJ.
He was awesome
Io non ci trovo nessun nesso tra lui, Prince e Michel Jackson. Totalmente differente
This is the singular example of a record company f*ucking the career of an artist over legal disputes. TTD should have been a global superstar for many years. The hardline according to was one of THE best debut albums of all time. So many good songs, brilliantly performed..
His songs never sound old,but they do pre-voke old memories, beautiful songs.
The most brillant, unique and SOULFUL vocalist of the 80s. Full of charisma and creative dancing moves, TTDA/Sananda Maitraya is ONE OF A KIND and criminally UNDERRATED.
Completely agree
Well said.

To be honest, even people born in the 80s, 90s and later can tell that today's music is generally crap.
What a joy it is to listen to this voice ❤
Seen him at Bristol hippodrome as a support act to Simply Red, for me he stole the show. Class act, so many memories!!
Gotta give it to Terence though, he rocked the mic hard on this stormer. The 80's strike again. Sing it.
Still amazing. Never get tired of listening to Terence. Always gives me that feel good factor
Ryan motley Yeah man, same here.
great artist. great dancer. so sensitive and colourful
Music being what it is today and being from the 90's I'm glad I like 80's-90's more than todays music. THIS is music
Reminds me of my teenage years, I always smile whenever I hear this tune ☺️☺️
Good time to be a young teen x
This voice and performance is everything ❤
Truly, the Songbird of his generation ❤️
Who is still enjoying this stuff on June 2024 ?!
Memories from the year 1987 and what a voice...! :-)
Excellent Performance, song writer, just love his music.
he was beautiful and sang very well
" Miachel Jackson y Sanando Maitreya los mejores"
Had the pleasure of seeing him live at the Colston Hall in Bristol. One of the best gigs I ever attended. Brilliant. I don't think he tries to be MJ at all.
nothing like mj, he had his own style.
i am absolutely in love with this song! his moves tho
❤️❤️❤️🤗
Really enjoyed hearing this again after all these years. Whatever happened to that guy. Great voice.
what a talent, indeed. Welll, he kind of dropped from the radar. But he's still doing music, so one hears. And the voice is still with him.
He moved to Germany. I think I read something about him falling out with his label. Thats why he didnt issue anything for 6 years.
ian whitehead ..he lives in ireland man. Wicklow Co.Dublin last I heard. same like Joe Elliott from Def leopard..
2023 love him I was born in 87 xxx
Great voice. underrated.
So true
What a beautiful voice / I love it
It would have rocked the world if Sananda and Prince worked together.
I used to listin to him in the 80s hes brilliant 💙😀✋
I put this song on repeat...hearing it one time is not enough😊❤
This guy was so talented! What a powerful voice! How charismatic!
Why did he not become even more famous?
Cara ,que explosão de pura adrenalina, aposto que Prince e Michael, ficariam olhando um pro outro e falariam, " o cara manda bem"
Still sounds great!
Been looking for this song for months, heard it on the radio couple of times but never remember what it was called just remembered the chorus. Finally found it 🤤

Simply a rare great "soul" song from the late 80's.
The way he dances and sings always got me going, the way he could do the splits and get straight back up again, he was like a wonderful human spring just springing around, amazing. 👏👍👍💞👄

I searched for years for this peace of heaven and only to find out that this Angel of a man sings this

If Gordy Berry/ Motown was still active in the 80 ' s this man would be the superstar he deserved to be.
His name is Berry Gordy and he ran Motown until last year. Motown was very much still active in this time period.

He's like in his 20s in this video such a Gifted Voice
Marvelous vocals.

If you let me stay
I should have said that I love you
It you let me stay
And I should have said it from my heart
If you let me stay
How can I compensate
For my indiscretions, dear
Tell me it's not too late
That I'd love to hear
If you walk out on me
You will see a grown man cry
I didn't miss my water
Till my well ran dry
But if you let me stay
If you let me stay
I'll say what I should've said
If you let me stay
I should have said that I love you
It you let me stay
And I should have said it from my heart
If you let me stay
Your pretensions aim for gullible fools
And now who needs you anyway?
I'll get mine elsewhere
I taught the school
You will regret it someday
If you let me stay
I'll say what I should've said
If you let me stay
I should have said that I love you
It you let me stay
And I should have said it from my heart
If you let me stay

He is beautiful and talented. A wonderful combination, only 9 years ago, means nothing what he has is is immortalized in stone.
Came up in my head this morning. Always an amazing number 👍🎶🎶
Still addicted to this song 👍and his other great songs
he is not underrated, he is out of commercial business in music, doing his own
Hot Damn, that man sure can shout "Hooooo!!!" 😮❤
I could listen to this song a million times.... He did not get the recognition he deserved!
fabulous megastar since 80s until 2020s !!
Que voz é essa...seloko!! 😍😍
An all-time classic for the classic year of 1987
Une voix magnifique, une élégance . Compositeur, musicien et danseur. Pour moi un des meilleurs
Musical genius...timeless.
Still love this old skool :D
I loved Terence Trent Darby, had this record..this brings back so many memories from 1987! Wow that was so long ago! 🥰
