- This might be the best roof top tent on the market and I bought it and put it on my Jeep Wrangler JL. I also changed out my roof rack to mount the tent lower, as I have no install a hard top roof on my Jeep.

I have had the Alucab 3.1 for almost two years now and never regretted it! I just installed the drop down table and backrest system in it which I think is really unique and something I am enjoying so much. This table and backrest will work for the 3.0, 3.1 and 3-R tents so I would highly recommend anyone who has an Alucab to consider that upgrade! Thanks for the great video Casey!
Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a sweet tent. I haven’t seen 1 in person yet. We do the backbone system all the time. Great product for sure. Almost to 70k subs. Good luck on the quest for 100k. Hope to see it by new years.
This is definitely a tent to check out if you get a chance !
Have you done any ribcage systems from yakima yet? If so would you recommend
A $7000 tent should have a kitchen bathroom, shower and king bed in it. That is ludicrous.
I'm happy you share your various gear reviews.
I think for most of us $7k is not realistic. $7k, that's 14 Gazelles, that's 4 Amazon tents, that's a lifetime supply of beer 😅... but it still is only a "tent", and not a spacious one at that.
True. But it fits my needs really well and is super comfy.
How much did YOU pay for the tent?
We installed the Pioneer Platform and the Backbone System ourselves. The instructions were super helpful.
Great to hear!
Your jeep looks sick. Nice changes and mods. Well done!
I understand your trying new things. To show and educate not only yourself but your audience on many different mods.
But all in all I have to say the ARS MetalCloak rack system is the best mod that both you and I myself have put on our Jeeps.
There is is just so much versatility and customizability with the ARS.
If you look at it I was able to save money on not having to purchase a separate system just to house a light bar.
That’s just one amazing thing you can do with the ARS.
I agree. The ARS is awesome. Its a bold change to the looks of your rig though. I'll see how the Rhino Rack goes now. Your right, its a lot of trying so I can have first hand experience and provide perspective to others.
Do you know if the rack is compatible with a two door jl?
Awesome, looking forward to some more Eco-diesel content!
I have the AEV snorkel on my 21 JLURD with prefilter and love it.
Have to admit i prefer the hard top as it makes it looks less old beat JK look. Love the alucab, I want the canopy camper for my JT so bad! The snorkel is also on the to do list. Good to see the JL seeing some love as well.
Those canopy campers are pretty sick!
You still have your ecodiesel. I sold the pentstar and got a gladiator ecodiesel. I love it
Nice! I still have love for the ecod
So far Casey. I plan to put a rtt Topoak on backbone system.
Did the backbone can carry this weight you think.
I plan the same system as you with cross bar.
Thanks !
It should be fine.
What were those brackets you used to mount the alu load bars to the backbone?
Do they supply gaskets now with the backbone? Used to have to seal with butyl mastic (or silicon variant) which was so messy but absolutley did the trick. Would love to get a set of the gaskets if that is now the case.
Installed the backbone system on my jku at home and it's really not a big deal if you are generally familiar with the use of a drill and stuff. The JL backbone does look nicer though. Curious to see your opinion about it.
Love the look of the hardtop, but nothing beats the awesomeness of tge softtop. Looks like youre stuck with this now too
I love the soft top too but its limiting with how I can setup my rig for camping and its soooooo noisy with a rack I couldn't handle it any more.
@@Casey250 for sure, if I was an overlander I would have a hard top as well. Im an overlander but I overland at Holiday Inn's :)
Are there no load concerns by only using the low profile load bar feet and not the outside brackets?
Not yet. I looked at GP factor brackets too but they are pricey.
I’m late to the party but how tall did you say you were in another video? I saw you said in another comment plenty of leg room. But looking at purchasing an gen 3r and making sure at 6’2 it’ll work
im 6ft 2in.
I’m considering getting a 2024 4Runner. They tend to come with factory roof rails or a trd pro rack. What kind of rail or rack system do I need to put up a sparrow eye RTT? Do I tell the dealership to keep their rack and cut some cost off?
Do you have a link for the transversal bars?
Thanks !

Will this Alu-Cab GEN 3-R mount to a Sherpa "The Crestone"?
Other than the size issue did you have any problems with the Alucab LT50? I would prefer something lighter than the Expedition 3.0.
Its a great tent if your shorter and are ok with sacrificing space for lightness and compactness.
I have the LT-50 on my Toyota Tundra and this spring did a 2-month coast-to-coast (DC to Oregon) trip with it. I'm 5'3" and it is great for me. Too small for two to be comfortable and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 5'7" or 5"8". I got the LT-50 instead of the larger Alu-Cab because the LT-50 is smaller and so it weighs half as much and closed is only 6" in height so less impact on gas mileage. Depends on what your use expectation is. I'm not hanging out in mine so don't need a backrest, desk or lights, etc etc. A headlamp is all the lighting I need in a tent. I did get rid of the foam mattress it comes with and replaced it with an ExPed Megamat Duo 10 which fits perfectly in width and depth and is a couple inches short at the foot, where no one's feet fit, anyway.
I think $7,000 is why to much money
Not who to much money?
Hey Casey, how have the door steps been? What brand? Thk u
Metalcloak. They are great.
What are those feet that connect the Alu Cab bars to the Rhino Rack ?
Prinsu
Sweet! Love the looks of the hardtop!
So if you put 6 crossbars would you be able to put 350lbs? hmmmm
Im not sure it works like that lol
@@Casey250😊 I have a JT. Be cool if it did. BTW love that tent
Who makes your 12v heater and what are your thoughts on it?
I'm still trying various sizes but right now it's a small Honeywell heater that is like 150w low and 300w on high. I've tried a larger 400w/800w but it cooks inside the tent and can't run as long.

How is it for foot room? Better than the lt50?
Lots. Way more then the LT50, it opens at a much steeper angle.
I installed the backbone system on my 2020 and the cross bars from rhino are not enough - my tent came off while off-oading. What bars and brackets did you use to connect to your backbone system?
Prinsu brackets and alucab low pro bars.
When are you taking the demoator on the hard trails?!
Or is it a show room thing ?
the demonator is not for hard trails, thats what the JL is for. The Demonator is for when I feel like having a little extra fun and don't have limited range.
Hey Kasey, what camera setup do you used for your vlogging?
Gopro hero 11 at the moment.
@@Casey250 nice, what are your thoughts on the new pocket 3?
My thoughts are 'it arrives Tuesday' 🤣🤣🤣
@@Casey250 questions answered 😂
How was the roof noise? Do you think it needs a front fearing?
Swapping from soft top to hard top cut down a ton on wind noise. Removing the rack getting the tent lower was a smaller improvement. The front hoop is causing what's left of the noise but it's no where near where I started out with a soft top.
Ursa Minor is a game changer...not another roof top tent.
Awesome
When are you going to chip that diesel?
As soon as I get my fuel pump recalled... im on a list...
ZACH CHASE
6k jeez. wayyyy to much.
Casey you really need to do homework before you make statements. You’ve done it so many times that you give us info but can’t back it up. Example this video on weight on your jeep between your new selection to your old setup. We don’t want to hear...... Well it should be lighter? Get all the info that’s why we watch videos. So we know what we are doing. Thanks.
I don't need to back up anything, I am here to give you the general idea of whats going on. We aren't running a race car and I am not collecting precise data. I replaced a 160lb rack and a soft top with that weights about 45lbs, with a hard top that weights 140lbs and a Rhino Rack which doesn't weight much. Thats the best I can do, take it or leave it, and hopefully it helps out - sometimes more then others.
And a Rhino rack that doesn’t weigh much. 5lbs or 30lbs. Neither is very much. I was giving you some constructive criticism not ripping you a new .......... But with the type of response you gave me obviously your too proud to take it. That will get you viewers. Anyone can give general ideas. We all are concerned about weight in and on our vehicles. Thanks
When you make a statement with "You really need to do your homework" and "Get all the info" it puts anyone on defense. I even gave you the info in a response.
Nice tent...7 grand nice? Nope. In the end it is a tent. Way over priced. I won't let it deter me from watching your videos though. 😉
The add that pops up every 10 sec after deleting it promoting ypur stuff is ridiculous you lost a subscriber and fan
