Hi mate You can try Murex by Toupret That's rapid drying and is resin rich and dries white. You will have to texture it with a sponge when going off as it's impossible to rub down as it's rock hard. It's a powder filler
I dont usually do exteriors. But got a job starting tomorrow gable at the side of a chippy. Theres quite a bit of damaged render some high up as well. I got two bags of one coat render to patch with. Any opinions on if it's the right decision. To be fare one parts right back to brick. So filler would not be an option. But I was gonna just scrape and prime the flakes and skim a thin layer of one coat.
Hi mate. Toupret Touprelith is a great cement exterior filler. Also if you need it to dry quickly then use Toupret Murex which dries white and is a rapid set. You will need to sponge it smooth or texture it as its almost impossible to rub down. If you can get any of these then use them. Sandtex is the best masonry paint to go over it.
Hi Sally They have stopped making it. The best cement filler for exterior masonry is Toupret Touprelith which is fantastic Have a look at the whole Toupret range as they have so many different fillers internal and external Kind regards Daniel
Very useful video thank you. Because the surface has quite a rough textured finish (before and after the repair), do you just paint straight over your repair? All I'm thinking is if I sand the repair there will be a difference in the surface ie. smooth (sanded) vs textured (original). Hope that makes sense! Finally, how do you apply this product? Dampen surface first, then apply with a plasterers trowel? Do you undercoat or just 2 x coats of masonry paint? Many thanks, Richard
Hi mate You can texture with a sponge or even buy Highbuild by Sandtex which can rollered on. I would stabilise then two coats. Sandtex also do a waterbased stabiliser. Cheers Dan
@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 Nice one Dan! Excellent thank you. Highbuild by Sandtex is too textured - my finish is the same as yours in this video. Think I'll try filling, stabiliser then 2 x coats of Sandtex!
How did you get the peeling paint to look to smooth . I just got a place and there are a couple of patches high up . It looks like paint has peeled of but it had just been painted over again without prep and looks awful . Like two layers . Any tips ?That's looks nice what you've done with that. wall .
Hi Daniel....just started scraping the external paint in patches. Great video...feel.encouraged to do it myself now😅😁 Could I use toupret fibacryl or is that overkill?would a basic toupret be ok? Thanks so much!
If you use Murex by Toupret it dries rapid and white but dries so rock hard you can't rub it down so smooth off as much as possible with a sponge as it's going off. This cement based filler takes longer depending on the heat in the daytime but usually by the next day you can paint.
Hi Daniel, nice job! Got a question please: I’ve got a 1930’s house with rendered exterior walls (painted). The render has been patched in several places over the years, which makes the walls look very lumpy & bumpy and a non-uniform finish. (The render is solid and the paint isn’t flaky, but it just looks awful). I’d like to renovate the entire surface and was initially thinking of using a heavy texture (high build) roller-on coating.....until I saw the price of these products and also how poor (low) their coverage is!! There seems to be a lot of speculation about applying various products over previously painted render, but wondering if you have any alternative suggestions please? I should also say that the standard textured sandtex type paints would NOT be anywhere course enough to cover the sins on my walls! Thanks & Regards, Jo.
Hi Jo Sandtex do a high build product which gives it texture but the thing to do ultimately is to have the wall re rendered but I know that's a big cost. So maybe look into the high build by sandtex but it will only be cosmetic. Regards Daniel
Been painting and decorating for 20+ years this stuff is the mutts nuts! Sadly not available in the uk any more stopped making it about 2 years ago! 2019 i think And crown (Sandtex) have never replaced it...... why 🤔
I honestly think Toupret has taken the market. All of a sudden their fillers internal and external have flooded the UK market and are available in most decorating centres. It is great gear I have to say.
Pity you’re even making that comment “!!” It’s not like you couldn’t hear the guy over the music… anyway what’s wrong with a bit of ‘dancing on the ceiling’ 🕺
Excellent workmanship 👏
Lovely work.
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Neat job mate 👍
Many thanks
Great vid many thanks
Thanks mate much appreciated
Hello mate trying to find this filler, where did you get it? Cheers
Danny can the same sandtex cement mix be used on an outside concrete passage flooring?
No. Its too soft
You need 2 pack epoxy rein For concrete floors
I'm in Ireland in Co Roscommon where it rains a lot. Can I try repair masonry render this way between two showers? Thanks you for your response.

With all these new coatings arriving it all gets a bit confusing, what do you think of zinsser solvent exterior satin.🤔
I would always go waterbased now. The Caparol P.U.Satin is fantastic
👍

hey there, did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same problem. ):
@@hazeykun not yet mate, I've still got to do it. It's going to be the last job I get to. I'd love to know if there is way to sort it.

Hi
The best would be Toupret Touprelith as its a cement based filler that can be rubbed down or stippled or shaped when going off.
Great stuff
Would you scrape and then use peel stop first and after filler
Hi
I'd stabilise after scraping off. Once filled it can be painted over when cutting in so it has an extra coat before rolling twice
Where the paint is flakey and raised, do you just scrape it all away then repaint? Thanks (:
You need to put on Stabilizer first. Sandtex make it and its water based and dries quick and is a clear coat..
Cheers
How long did it take to dry and how long was the job for the back? I’ve got a similar job coming up

Do you have any videos on repairing exterior bay window columns using filler
Hi mate. If they are masonry stone then I now use Toupret Touprelith
It's a great cement based filler

Mark Crotty cheers mate
How old is this building ?
It's a victorian house but rendering was done at a later date but not sure when
Can I ask how much you charged for this job?
I usually base myself on £200 a day for exterior work.
Cheers mate gives me an idea on what to expect

Does this filler leave a smooth of bumpy texture like render
No it's smooth but you can texture it with a sponge if you want a stipple effect. Cheers Dan
you remember what colour/brand the maim cream was? sandex over dulux weathershield for rendered garden walls?
Sandtex but can't remember what cream. Could be Gardienia
What no toupret.
