Great the blue headband of Jimmy Connors 👍😄

  • @iandawson8323

Thanks for that another couple of bits on my list, great tunes!!!

  • @DallasOpenMicr

Thanks for taking us along on the desert trip. (Even more thanks for sparing us from the U2 talk. As a former member of the band's cult, I'm still recovering from the trauma and embarrassment.) These video installments were a delightful rollercoaster ride, full of real emotion but free of FOMO.

Yo John you got some heat , sharing.

  • @tonysmith5878

    I NEED THAT "TRIO" RECORD.

  • @carltwidle9046

Hi 👋 What cool record stores. I would like to have a look in them. Johnny Bristol had a hit song called Hang on in there Baby in 1974. I'm sure you know the song. I noticed Van McCoy's records there. He had a hit with the Disco instrumental The Hustle in 1975.

  • @DJWerkz

Great video and we approve, the tracks you needle dropped are absolute bangers! I noticed you skimmed past (with a slight pause) Ralph McDonald - The Path. That’s a must have album in my book,…in case you don’t have it.

  • @andyshacks7812

Wow some of the records in those bins at Wax Trax! But I couldn’t be doing with their pricing policy. Good for you mate for sticking to your guns with that Trio Mocoto album! I have their first album (Mr Bongo reissue) and it’s just great. Cheers John. 🙏

  • @retromusings

Such fun watching this. Thanks for taking us along to the big Sin City. Glad you didn't stick with that saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" !

  • @tonysmith5878

STUFF IN THE PHOTO CAUGHT MY ATTENTION!!!!!!

  • @mad4vinyl802

I’ve had similar experiences at Wax Trax. It’s very frustrating. I hope you enjoyed your trip. The Trio record is fantastic.

  • @miketomlin6040

If no prices I either walk out, or make them an offer and give them 5 minutes to say yes or no. Wax Trax used to have nasty stickers, standard techniques don't work. Gary Numan- collectable! The world we live in!

  • @TheZeekgeek1

It was my pleasure to finally meet up with you in person John. I only wish we had more time, the universal problem. Rich Rosen @ Vegas Wax Trax is one of the last of the great record dealers. The story you told about offering to trade you for the record he just sold you is indicative of his character, bless him. I probably should have recommended Record City! It's a good place for digging for reasonable prices. I've been seeing a metric butt-ton of social media RE: U2 @ the Sphere. I cannot wait until my ticket comes up.

  • @Ed-Topo-108

Great buys.. that Coke Escoveda is such a classic track. Love the 2 Pete & Sheila Escoveda albums too.

  • @juliusjabbar1011

wow John, flying all the way to Las Vegas to see U2.. you're living on the Edge! l've been to a couple shops in vegas but not Wax Trax... l've heard about the pricing tactic and have no desire to shop like that. cool cool finds, can't wait for your california stories.... cheers

  • @baggyhi-fi8628

Thanks John for sharing your Vegas record buying travelogue! The Wax Trax pricing experience sounds very off-putting but enjoyed all your digging footage.

  • @Paneeks1960

Smashing and I mean smashing update John. That Trio Mocoto sounds very interesting. First Brazilian press for a good price? Way to go. But then he quoted you a more expensive price for something else but corrected it? A numbers game indeed. >< Cool digging clips. I always see Mass Production and Brass Construction records whether I am digging at a Goodwill or a used record shop. They must have pressed a slew of each one. Always enjoy your selections/tastes. Have a good weekend J. Still digging the intro~

  • @nigelcampag1290

Some quality looking gear there for sure. Would love that Roger Nichols & Small Circle of Friends lp... price has increased dramatically in recent years. I bet you took that Dorothy Ashby to the counter and got quoted an insane price! I would love to experience US digging just for the likes of the stuff you got in the soul jazz vein. Cheap stuff like Mongo Santamaria that in 30 yrs of buying that ilk in the uk I've yet to see Stone Soul and if I did it would be 15 or 20 quid! Great stuff mate...Nige

  • @Localbandography

If I went into a record store with no prices on anything a bare knuckle boxing match would break out.

  • @johnpyle1022

Hey John, I took a trip up from Mexico where I live to LV about a year ago and went to Record City, it was the best shop of the trip, came out with a bunch of soul records, many of them recommendations from your good self and/or Nadine! Such great prices up in the US and the selections so different from the UK....eg that Come Together Ike/Tina album Mazzy pulled with you the other day, a mere 5 dollars. What's your thoughts on Curtis' There's No Place like America Today, I notice you flipped past it...I didn't go to Wax City, as the feedback from so many on the VC was just too negative, I do kinda regret not going now though, even just for a look. Short trips, can't go everywhere. I did go to Zia Records though, it's pretty good for the dusty one dollar bins, very near the airport and open late on Sunday night, perfect before early morning flight! Love your channel mate, one of, if not the best, cheers from La Paz!
