In Mortal Kombat II, Baraka and Mileena are lovers that both Ellie and Riley chose to fight as at the arcade. Whether the creators knew it or not, their gameplay did showcase a grim foreshadowing.
@@Syntell I owned MK II on SNES back in the 90s. I beat the game with both characters. Their endings show them as a couple. When I saw the girls playing those characters on Mortal Kombat, I thought no way. Did they know about the fighters they just picked?
1:55 In the Last episode, Tommy said the University was a 5 day ride south. There's no way Joel would survive 10 days without help. He's asking Ellie to save herself and let him die.
that shot of Joel and Ellie's hands had my eyes sweating 😭 I really enjoyed this one, and I think we get like 2 more episodes? (of this season?) Maan, they are gonna be JAM-PACKED if this will be like the last act of the game and I cannot wait.
7:06 ahhh yes that look of, finally Storm Reid in an HBO show that doesn’t involve teens doing explicit adult things (although they did drink and a had little B&E action in this episode.) 😂😂😂
I love Left Behind so much. The best DLC in my opinion! I've played it so many times and the show did everything PERFECT! Have you read the comics? That first scene is very much like the comic. How they meet Marlene is different though.
@@Syntell I hope you enjoy!! Even tho I watched my friend play TLOU when we were in college cuz I didn’t have a PS3, I didn’t play the DLC until I got a ps4 in 2017/2018 but I heard about it right after I came out as bi in 2016 (late I was 26 lol) and it meant so much to me that Ellie had a crush on a girl! :) It’s really a great DLC! There’s a side story told through notes like Ish’s story as well!
Yes! At the time I was 12, and I knew I liked girls, but I had a very homophobic family so I hadn’t come out yet. Being so young also made it very confusing. As you can imagine I dealt with a lot of guilt and felt very disgusting about my sexuality, and to deal with that I always played left behind. I also had a massive crush on this girl at my school, so playing a lil game about 2 young girls who had romantic feelings for each other was like being at home for me. I still remember how comforted it made me feel which makes me tear up. Completely with you on it being the best dlc !!

Marlene knew Ellie's mom. My Theory is that Ellie's mom got infected when she was almost having Ellie , and they got to take Ellie out of her mom, the infection got into Ellie's imune system and that's why she can't turn, its a part of her body system. And that's why Marlene didnt kill her when She found them at the mall, probably with Riley dead because Ellie had to shoot her when She turned. My Theory, since we don't have anything about her mother, but Marlene told Ellie that she knew her mom, and that Marlene was the one that delivered Ellie to Fedra to be safe. And Riley stated in this last episode that Ellie never got a family (because her mom got infected when She was preagnent, and Marlene knows Thats why she's imune) again, only a theory i came up about
I don't know where it was I heard it, probably Ty & That Guy who work in the industry, but apparently HBO doesn't go for the cheap and easy jump scares. From a high cinematography level, apparently keeping that tension is more important because as soon as a jump scare happens, you cut that tension. I don't know jack about movie making but since I heard that, I kind of don't expect jump scares from this show, even though I feel like there have been plenty of moments where other movies or studios absolutely would have put a jump scare in.
Cmon now the show is trying to make it as realistic as possible but of course not everything is going to be 100% realistic but don’t get picky now…in the game the mf is a superhuman old man that survived a 20 feet or more fall, hit his head, gets impaled by a dirty metal bar but doesn’t get an infection, loose a lot of blood that would’ve needed a blood transfusion and yet he was running next day and fighting men in their prime because he got injected with the super serum…in the show it is as realistic as it can be.
It seems to me that Fedra did an original sweep and killed all the infected but bc of a shortage of people they just told everyone if was filled with infected. Which would explain why it hadn’t been sealed off. They wouldn’t have a building like that within the QZ (Q stands for quarantined which would mean infection free), but I guess only the Fireflies were smart enough to realize that. I’m sure theFireflies frequented that place and it’s typically safe. That one infected dude could be a few months old. Perhaps he was a Firefly himself but hid his bite and stowed away in a part no one ventures in to. And Riley had been there for weeks completely fine - I’m sure there was no cause for alarm on their end.
This is probably the first time I haven't agreed with you guys on liking an episode. I've never played the game but I wanted more. It's feeling very PG-13 and it dragged for me. I personally didn't feel the chemistry so interesting that you both did feel that. I wanted them to show what was happening in their lives rather than just reminiscing about it. Example, if Ellie has been in the hole that many times, show her suffering in it! They are making FEDRA look like any other military camp and I doubt life is that damn easy. It was just soft for me and the time spending 5 min. playing mortal combat, I could have had a flashback to the friend's parents or her meeting the fireflies. Idk...always love that one show can make different people feel different things.
The whole ep was based around a DLC of the game which was basically how Ellie got bit so even tho I disagree with you on liking the ep I can understand why you felt it got dragged on and how you wanted more but tbh there wasn't more the DLC provided either

Nearly as weak as episode 3, I really don't care about these characters they shove in for episode and kill off .. I'm genuinely beginning not to care about this show..
It's Joel and Ellie's story, every character we meet is there to shed more light on Ellie and Joel as characters. It's not Walking Dead where we follow a massive group and all their different storylines for season after season. This episode is also possibly the most faithful to the game source material of any we've seen so far.
The only reason the show bothers to make you care about the side characters is to inform you of how it makes joel and ellie feel about their situation and relationship. Like Big Gooberfish said, its all about Joel and Ellie. Enjoy the performances, enjoy the writing, enjoy the cinematography. Its like a big long poem about love, hate, loss and forgiveness.
