"crews rarely used [the MG 131s]" - well, the probably used them just as often as there were fighters trying to shoot them down. I don't think most aircraft with defensive guns intentionally put themselves into a position where they can "get him right on my tail, so my gunner can shoot him down!". It's something to be _avoided_, and if an aircraft DOES end up on the tail fo an Me 410, I doubt the gunner is going to just not shoot at him because he doesn't like the gun system...
@MrVeggie247 Well, they had at least a Revi 25 Gunsight for the pair. I believe it would actually have been easier to hit something with these guns than with the completely manually operated single guns in a Ju 87 oder Bf 110. At least, these were power driven, so no buffeting etc. Also the gunner didn't only have an iron sight, but a "hud", a "Reflexvisier" with speed dependent dial-in parameters etc. .
I imagine the possibility that being poorly supplied, at points, especially near the end of the war, the germans may not have been able to keep all guns loaded and operating. Guns, like this video states, that don't work all the time, may have been left unloaded, and unable to be used. Otherwise, I agree, one would use any and all guns at thier disposal, if needed.
great video, like background music, lived at Frankton where one of these invovled in a mid air crash over the village, talked to a witness to this Me410 crashed into field, both crew killed

Good video. Annoying, overpowering and unbearable background music finally stopped at 4:03. This upload would be much better without the background music.
Most likely with the doors open, at speed, the massive drag would also be a bit like pulling up elevator and applying left and right rudder all at once. This would then cause the angle of attack on the wings to change and turbulence would form on the top of the wings, and no more lift, or an chance of gaining lift again, untill those doors are shut again.
often thort that the instability problems with the Me 210 could have been cured with a larger tail fin or perhaps a twin tail layout either way a beautiful airplane thanks so much for uploading this
LOL, dude, read wikipedia, or a book or something. The Me 210 started out with a twin tail, just like the 110 it was derived from. That was a major cause of its terrible handling, and they quickly scrapped it. But the flaws were much deeper, involving CoG, wing design, etc. The solution was a intensive redesign, which they did...and named it the "410" instead, to make sure people knew it was a big change, and it was now a safe aircraft to fly. Not sure what the problem is though....the 410 is just as good looking as the 210, just "cured". Just like you say should have been done: that's what they *did* do!
Damien Maynard I'm trying to find out more information on the me-210ca you mentioned. Other than model airplane picturez, and like 2 pictures of real ones, I can't find anything else about them... We're they super different than the standard me-410 that's in the video?
The 210Ca was built in Hungary with all the "patches" developed for the 210C by the Germans - so they were more like the 210 than the 410. The Hungarian authorities were satisfied with the Me 210C in its current state, and purchased a production license for the type (then designated Me 210Ca (a = ausländisch or 'foreign')) as well as for its DB 605 engines. Several airframes were also purchased, to be completed in Hungarian factories for practice while the assembly lines were set up. Production started in the Dunai Repülőgépgyár Rt. (Danubian Aircraft Plant) as the Me 210Ca with the DB 605B engine, under an agreement where the Luftwaffe received two of every three produced. The Luftwaffe started receiving their Hungarian-built planes in April 1943, and the Hungarians in 1944; when they entered service they were more than satisfied with them. Production ended in March 1944, when the factory switched over to produce the Bf 109G. By that time, a total of 267 Me 210C had been built, 108 of which had been given to the Luftwaffe. The sweep angle of the wing was different to the 410 and the engines were DB605 while the 410 had the DB603. Most of the German planes were used in Tunisia and Sardinia - and lost there or destroyed to prevent capture.
LOL at the music...what is this, "Sounds of Deep Space" (what he hell was the name of that creepy space-music radio show my mom used to listen to when I was a kid? Something of the Cosmos?) *Ah, thank you Google (it really is almost creepy sometimes..."Hearts of Space" is the name of the show. First try. Music sounds take straight from that show. And it really, really doesn't fit. Whe Me 410 is some "sinister Nazi death machine"? LOL.
There is actually a direct German counterpart to the famous Mosquito- the infamous Ta 154 “Moskito” night fighter...named so as a direct nod to the British “heavy fighter/fast bomber“. Designed by Kurt Tank of FW 190 fame, it looked very promising on paper, but was plagued by wartime production problems like adhesive that eventually destroyed the plywood structure of the plane itself.
And 1:55 - I still don't get the purpose of the small panel on the nose opening up when the bomb bay opens. All I can think is it was an aerodynamic thing..... And 3:42 "both aircraft used the DB 603" - NO, the 210 used the DB 601, the 410 was given the larger DB 603. WTF dude, get your facts straight! And NO, the Me 410 had TWO 20mm cannon and two 13mm MG's. Seriously dude...wtf. It could be FITTED with an additional bomber-busting kit with two cannon in the bomb bay, but these were not standard fit.
The A versions had 2 x 7.92 mm MG17 (i think it's mg 17) , and the B version got the 2 x 13 mm MG13 ! There was also some low produced versions with 50 mm , and one with 2 x 30 mm Mk 103
It's a pity that the DB 605 engines were not used on the Me - 410. It has the looks and feel of a "lean, mean" killer! Achtung! Achtung! You mentioned its top speed as being 364 m.p.h. but I have come across the figure of 388 m.p.h. from other books on the aircraft of the Luftwaffe. Congratulations on an otherwise informative documentary! 👍👍👍
hate those side mounted defensive guns, really looks like they have a narrow field of view from the sight in the gun, should have replaced them with a a single one in the rear part of the canopy
what a beautiful machine
But it was crap .

Very well putt. I was thinking the same

As previously stated, a very informative video. Unfortunately, the loud musical background was at dischord with my tinnitus.
It was plain bloody awful and put me off the video...
What?
hearing problem, turn volume down then,i do not beleive you
Thanks for covering a little known aircraft!
The background music volume makes the excellent narration difficult to hear.
There was background music? I could not tell. The foreground music drowned it out.
turn your volume down then
It has been reported that the Me 410 can go at burst of +400 mph. It was able to outrun the A-61 Black Widow when it was being chased.
*P-61
Please site your source for your claim of 400+ (level flight)?
Хорошая музыка 👍🏻
The russians were happy using this aircraft thought... In fact, they flew it untill they runn out of spare parts...
The 210 is a reminder that the 'If it looks good it flys good'-rule is only a rule of thumb
great video, like background music, lived at Frankton where one of these invovled in a mid air crash over the village, talked to a witness to this Me410 crashed into field, both crew killed
can we get a ver with no music, the music is making it hard to listen to the voice but the plane it self looks amazing!
it is my favourite fighter planes
A brutal deadly aircraft to allied bombers. Just a well aimed burst from its fearsome arsenal results in a downed or significantly damaged target.

So the Bombay does were so far forward they created massive drag and shifted the aircraft's balancing point?

What about the scary music?
what about the Hungarian Me-210CA improved version!!? - well liked by it's crews!!!

I music is too loud and I can not hear the narrator.
Can’t hear the audio. Music too loud
Beautiful aircraft.
I would like to know the name of the music pleasee
Video was meant to be about the 410 not 210.. disappointed
Yeah , great video and commentary but why the spooky " UFO " type music ?
music is too loud

Reminds me of the lab music in Resident Evil 2 lol
Amazing functionality considering it was made of yak hair and natural latex.
A simple vista y en performance aerodinámica es muy parecido al IA-58 Pucará de nuestra Fuerza Aerea Argentina
Cool music
nice!
Is this plane like a counterpart of the British "Mosquito"?
Except it was crap the Mosquito was a world beater.
@@ducatiboy4951 lol

To be able to work kinks out on a production line while your factories are bombing targets themselves is a wonder in itself
breattheaking; the techniek just before the 40 ties, looks like today!
The german Mosquito
The music is so loud, it’s distracting. Can’t watch this unfortunately.
The background music does not make any sense.
Great vid. Cool music but too loud 😐
CAN YOU PLEASE SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
DB603 engine upside down V12....not in line....
Another great video ruined by "music"
Wonder how he got it so wrong!??

Also 'Inline 12 cylinder' when it's an 'Inverted V'
"Moosic" too loud - you go to all this trouble and then drown out the Commentary?
Sorry, but the music on the first part of the video is too loud / not necessary and disturbing.
It's not me 210 looks like
I'd still rather fly a Mosquito
The Hungarians fixed the Me-210.
It's a pity that the DB 605 engines were not used on the Me - 410.

The DB 603 were used on the Me 410. The DB 603 had 1800 Hp.
name of the music please

It was crap, flying in daylight was suicidal. GERMANY had to produce it because they had nothing else, even a Stuka was used to replace it.
Freaking noises makes it unbearable to watch!!

It extended 70 degrees outwards but also 2 degrees inwards. You could hit a target dead behind the 410 too.
Rusia vs Ucrania es la continuación de la 2ww mundial
Would’ve been better without the space age sounding Musak, really annoying.
EASILY my favourite plane to fly on world of war planes
That thing still exists?

@@swacks7960This is awesome in War Thunder, tho.
Cut out the bloody music!!!!
Loud music destroys this. Too unpleasant.

What the terrible music for?
terrible sound the music is to high so you barely can hear the speaker. I could not take even one minute with this terrible sound.
stupid music is too loud!
