I can remember the first time I heard this song. I was in prison sharing a little walk man radio with a dude. He's the one who got me into metal music, really. We had to stand in one part of the dorm to be able to pick up The Planet clearly on the radio. If you moved more than 3', you would lose it, lol. So we were standing there listening, and the radio announcer came on saying if you have subs in your car or if you have your radio to loud by the end of this song your speakers are going to be shot. We strongly advise you to please turn your radio down. Well, he was right. The bass drops in this song will blow your speakers to the moon!! After that I was hooked to this music!! I had to go back to prison 1 more time after that first bid to get my life in order. Praise God I have almost 10 years clean and sober. Without him, none of it would have been possible.

I forgot this band even existed but i used to love this song. Im now extremely NOT christian but i was raised Catholic and a religion teacher told me about this band because she knew i liked metal. That teacher often let people play songs before class and once let me play this very song and it made me so happy because she was kinda chuckling with me when the rest of my peers were scared because she had suggested this band in the first place so how could it be "satanic"

Speaking from as an atheist I absolutely love this band. Their music is amazing, and I've seen them live a few times. We really don't need to sit here and look down on each other for our views. I may not believe in your god, or any god, but I still respect you and your opinions, and most Christians respect mine as well.

God is the standard, objective moral code - there is no other standard. values aren't relative aside from practices like kissing on the cheek when greeting, etc. murder is wrong on all accounts, dipping babies in acid for fun will always be wrong, rape is wrong always, cheating on your spouse is wrong, and so on. there is objective morality and it doesn't come from humans. evolution doesn't provide ways of understanding morals because they are immaterial and come from personal agents, not chemical or biological

Dude I’ve been binging this song it’s so good. 2010 when this came out I was listening to guns up, pulling teeth, bitter end more heavy hardcore than metalcore. It’s come full circle now I’m back to metalcore and all in on Christian metalcore bands. Any good Christian metalcore bands I should check out? Just listened to Phinehas for the first time they’re badass. Wage war is awesome but if you can help a brother out fill me in my dude

Grew up strict Catholic, and as a 30 year old man i still find the bands with the best lyrics and message are the religious ones. As an atheist i still love the message, respect one another. Core music will always be my favorite =D gives me the shivers.

J- Rich Who gives a flying fuck about what "right in God's eyes"?! Why should any living human being need to get permission for all every their actions from what basically amounts to an imaginary friend? That is beyond fucked up, and it's doing "what's right in God's eyes" that has given power to oppressors for thousands of years now!
For example, in just before the Civil War, the south convinced themselves that slavery was doing "what's right in God's eyes". Burning witches was doing "what's right in God's eyes". Making anti-gay laws is doing "what's right in God's eyes".
Do you see the problem with this? Either, God needs his eyes examined or he's an extremely fucked up individual. Or maybe, God is an imaginary being based on the doctrine of people from thousands of years ago who had ideas and mindsets that no longer apply to the human condition in the 21st century and were pretty horrible in the first fucking place.
Here's an example: No where in the Bible is the term Democracy even mentioned. It's is only vaguely referenced just before Jesus' execution. The Jews are given a vote by the Romans to execute Barabbas or Jesus, they chose Barabbas. Now, why would an all-knowing God (who can clearly see into the distant future) not understand the value of democracy as something vital to a civil society? Further yet, why, when given the opportunity to present in action in his holy book, does he choose to throw it under the bus by conveying it in such a negative light?
Two options: God (Yahweh/Jehova of the Old Testament and father of /human incarnation as Jesus) is an asshole who likes to watch (and probably masturbate to ) powerfully corrupt people bring subjugation and suffering upon people. OR this little tale was spun by people who wanted a little power of their own and thus created a magnificent tale (the Bible) to sell to the masses in order to get fame, glory, power, what essentially amounts to domination over others.
What are your thoughts about "Standing your ground" (very poor choice of words considering the religiously endorsed racism in the Bible) and "doing what's right in God's eyes"?
I Believe in the Bible and all that is in it nothing will change my mind so if your trying to change my mind wont happen used to be an athiest not going back now. With the whole No gay laws and stuff God didnt make those Man did. And unless u just were born like yesterday u would know man is not perfect and neither are christians Most Christians usually arent most just believe in christian beliefs dont cheat,steal, etc.Many churches do invite gay people into churches i work with gay people at my church everyday there my friends also though. We dont agree with their lifestyle but we can still be friends its no big deal. To the question of standing for whats right and whats right in Gods eyes i say for me i try to live like Christ i fail at it sometimes and honestly its ok like christ i maybe would help someone who needs help sitting with people who sit alone at school or church or talk to people who dont have many friends forgive those who hurt me, etc. Its not always easy for me but its right. If u read the bible u would of seen where it said Micah 7:8 Though i remain the darkness the Lord my God will be my light out of it Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through God who strengthens me 2 Timothy 1 :7 God hasnt given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. yea sounds like God really wants us to suffer:p

@@trevornicholas3884 Yeah, the main difference is that For Today is a bit more preachy than NF. Nate's lyrics are really good and he doesn't shy away from talking about his faith in them but his lyrics are more about life with a faith inflection whereas For Today is basically preachcore. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I do think that as far as evangelism goes, the lyrical approach that NF has is more effective overall.
