Always smart to start with an easy beginner feature.
Start slow they said.
Build the basics they said.
Hah nice
phil doesn’t follow the rules
@@jc854R
Phil follows his own rules.
@@DinnerForkTongue I heard Phil makes the rules.
:-p
Only Phil would build a road gap as the first feature on his backyard trails
My thoughts exactly
And then call it a blue/black trail xD
@@aljowen and say "it might not look like much..." It looks like a lot even if it was just a gap.
Pretty huge gap too I think. The gopro effect is working its awful magic i feel to shrink this on camera
Then intentionally put a dead wall aka log for consequence 😂
I love the 3 foot piece of rebar sticking out of the landing as Phil hits it.
Safety 3rd!
Skills With Phil what’s 2?😂
Hey, it’s got a red flag on it, so where’s the danger?
@@brandoncummings4169 i would guess: 1 fun, 2 fast, 3 safety 😂
@@SkillsWithPhil you also probably should have at least bent the rebar with your foot
Who also can’t wait to see how this will look when they are done?
🙋♂️seeing the trench/ groundhole with all those Rocks , men i can't wait🤩
His vids are so good!
Just a tip to help the features last longer, when you put stakes in the ground try removing the bark and charging the wood with a flame. It will prevent future rot and work. Anyway really great vid keep up the work.
Cool name
Good tip but don't know if he hits your advice or not?
Im gonna actually try that
that hardens it too, making it easier to drive deeper
Makes a road gap with a 5 ft piece of rebar sticking out of the landing to impale yourself on for a little bit of extra spicyness.
"Yeah this trail is like a blue"
Phil "We call this lil starter here Vlad."
"Vlad?"
"Vlad. Vlad The Impaler."
"Vlad the what now...?"
"He put people on spikes"
"Spikes?"
"Spikes" >Points to rebar<
"SPIKE!!! By the hoehoba shampoo in me hair, Phil! Is thee mental?!...
Vlad is a kool name though..."
my favorite part is when you cut down a tree with a circular saw lol
Equally awesome was circular saw as a router!!!
I came to the comments to see if anyone says something about that hahahaha
Episode 1: Enduro Trail
Episode 2: Road Gap
Episode 3: ReCreating fort hill gap jumps
Episode one was an xc trail
No he will now proceed to make dark fest
Cameron Davis technically speaking you’re right
Guy who rides bikes Episode 5 will be the first 200 foot jump
@@Scojopo23 that's more similar to loose fest but yeah lol 😂 (the biggest jump at loose fest was apparently 150 feet🤯)
Ep. 1: A trail
Ep. 2: A road gap
Ep. 3: literally recreating A-Line
Ep 4 recreating darkfest
Episode 5 buying a bigger backyard
Episode 6 building stairway to heaven
Episode 7 Crabapple Hits but there's spikes in the gaps
Episode 8: Dirt Merchant
Dude the *first* thing he builds is a *ROAD GAP*
There is no such thing as easing in
With phill you don’t ease in
Did you see the size of it lmao
With Phil that IS easing in XD
Phil= Big jump but pretty smooth.
Seth= Smaller with a skinny lead in and something to catch your bottom bracket . Face first into a stone wall is penalty for failure.
So excited to follow along with this building series!
etanrh7 same
SAME
I would love to see you working with Seth ! Imagine Seths Creativity with Phils skill!
Phil helped Seth build the Mameframe on Berm Peak
Joel Bergsma Jeah that’s why I said that :)
seth should build a feature here, and phil builds a feature on berm peak
I'm very happy that their building style is way different. So far Phil likes to use the tree's around him and Seth likes building with dimensional lumber. Hopefully they use different paths to get to the same effect. Good job Phil.
I agree bro
So glad you guys are doing well and pumping out consistent content, always loved this channel, now its even better!
Amazing. You living the dream man! Seeing how Your hard work for so many years paid off is inspiring, but also makes me feel how I wasted my life so far... I wish I would fall in love with MTB when I was a child and not just couple of years ago. Now I can't even ride due to very serious injury 😔. If I could relive my youth it would be MTB all the way. Nothing made me so happy in my life and now I can't do it and I don't know for how long.... HUGE respect for what You do Phil. Thanks for playing bikes with us 👊
Super stoked to see how all this turns out!!
Phil - I didn't have the right tool to cut it so I decided to hammer a impaling stick to punish those who bail or crash on the landing
So cool to see some features in your backyard! Great job.
Looking good man. Keep the videos coming. Fun to watch.
Can’t wait to see your bike park progress more and more!
Can’t wait to see the progress on the next video!
another great video, will be great to see the rest of your builds and see you using what you have learned so far to incorporate into future builds. Keep the content coming
Rad Phil, great feature and fantastic video, keep up the hard work!
00:47 - That see through fishnet shirt tho, new merch coming soon!
Andy H that so the chainsaw won’t cut u lol
Doesn’t he also have his flies undone
@@zakzeman2462 congrats u got the joke
@@zakzeman2462 it’s a bug net to prevent mosquito bites.. that ain’t stopping no chainsaw lol. That’s what the chaps are for.
Love how the first feature Phil built was a road gap😂loving the videos
You guys are going to be ripped when this trail system is done, using only hand tools! Killer start!
Phil, looks like that turn would be a perfect spot for a berm.
this looks like a blast, and it’s only the beginning!
Looks like very rewarding hard work! Well done sir!
I've done that same thing you tried with pulling the log up the hill but with a couple of huge boulders. I ended up using about 1000' of rope, four pulleys, and my Jeep at the bottom pulling the rope. It's the best part of my trail. I have 5 miles total, and it's a pain for one guy to maintain. All those leaves you raked off are going to need to be blown off multiple times a year. It's not a big deal on the straight sections but on high speed turns almost a necessity for safety. Doing your own trail makes you appreciate how rider traffic keeps it free of debris.
I'm impressed with your skill building trails and riding them. Good work.
So sick!!! Pumped for you guys
So sick. I'm looking at houses with this stuff in mind.
thank you for making trail videos, it is what got me in to mountain biking and i find it the most fun to watch
This is so sick! Keep up the good work phill!
Gotta love all the effort they put in and how well they did
You made the trending page! Congrats!! Lets get the world stoked on biking again!
I can’t wait for what Phil is going to build 🤟
This trail system is going to be amazing!
Awesome build. Like how you used what was already available to build your feature. Have really enjoyed watching you develop your new property. Keep the videos coming.
Deep backcountry woods primitive trail building at its best. Simple power tools, a chainsaw and ingenuity of using what's avaliable around you with minimal modern construction material.
Sick first main feature.
Thanks for the rebar hack! I will definitely use that on the future trails
You can learn a lot from watching contractors build everyday things ;)
I’m the same way when building trail I have a mad idea half way threw it it changes love it 🤙🏻
Love your videos dude u r such an inspiration, keep up the good work 🚵🏼♂️👍
so cool!!!
love the content phill! thanks for being so inspiring, i’ve been riding a bunch now!
This looks like an incredible amount of work. It looks fantastic. Great job.
Love this video man, happy to see you building again. that drop looks sick!!!
Loved the vid so much can’t wait for more vids on this series
Love these videos, keep them up!
I’m super excited to see how the trails turn out
Great trail system and build. I really like your videos, they are a lot of fun and the skills video really have great technique information.
Looks great. Well done 👏
Love it! Road gap stright off, no f**ks given!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the trails
loving this series
I love your attitude, keep it up!!
Loving the trail building content, keep it up!!
Love the new trail videos Phil
Sick trail build. Can't wait to see what this turns into
That was sick!!!
That area that you "want to clean up" looks like there could be a sick rock roll hiding underneath. I'd love to see how you use it.
Really nice video, congrats !
Phil, you’re a proper legend mate.
Looking good Phil, keep the good content rolling! 🤘😎
So awesome, great stuff!
Nice work Phil. These videos are sick
I like how you built the right hand gap right after the drop. Simple but tech, Good job
Looks so fun
Felicitaciones
Muy buen trabajo.
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
So sick!
Lovin the new trail building vids man
Phil I just want to say you are an absolute workhorse taking this on as your first proper feature. Top man 👍👌
Great work and tunes glad you were wearing your hard hat for safety 😂😂🤘🤘
Jesus! Y’all are starting off insane! And this is only the beginning... wow
As always...another cool video.
You make it look so easy!
I love this type of vid.... cool presenting too!
That looks sick!
Sick!!! Love it.
I love this !
Thats going to be a fun trail.
Looks great, can’t wait to see the whole backyard trail complete. Just keep in mind that the logs you are using will work for a while but as they are on the ground and covered in dirt they will eventually rot and have to be replaced.
This guy is a mad lad!!!!!
Love the vids never have really rode mtb i ride bmx but it is still really fun and enjoyable to watch you dope vids
Gonna be EPIC!!!
Looooove the trail building videos. Can’t wait to play bikes next time when I’ve got my first full sus.
Looks sweet!
That jump is sick, I like the builds! Lol I was like bro you're gonna smoke your drill, 15 seconds later...yep.
Awesome👍😁
Dude! You are a machine! Insane work and it already looks dialed.
That's BOSS as bro.🤘😁🤘
I really enjoyed this backyard edit/film, thanks 😊
My favorite video from you so far
loving this
the lumberjack fit. wowza
God bless you while building the trails
good work Phil!
One thing that will help the drill from getting hot and smoking is to use smaller paddle bits first before working up to the final size, sweet drop Phil!
that road gap + triple is so nice!!
