I just left an academy and the main reason was the lack of realism in the training. They weren't teaching on the basis of what really happens in a dynamic roll and were just doing these static set pieces. The framing element you started out with along with the working your structure and the angles is what I was yearning for. At my academy, you would just start in the Single Leg X position with no mind paid to how the hell you were going to get there. Great stuff Lachlan. Really seeing progression in teaching watching you in action. I know you can rock your stuff in competition but you have a great long term future ahead of you as a teacher. Hope your students know they've struck pure gold.

Great video, almost like a short seminar, thanks so much for sharing!
Given your proficiency with SLX, maybe you can help me with a small problem I run into when going for the entry from shin on shin: Some guys knee slide over my shin (on the leg we're having shin on shin contact, towards my other leg) to put lots of pressure on my shin, which prevents me from getting it lifted . Sometimes I can still get the entry to SLX but often I have to reset or lose the position. Now I'm not sure whether this from of knee slide is a legit defense or my entry just isn't sharp enough. Did you encounter this defense/counter before and if so, what is your preferred method to prevent or counter it?
Thanks again for the great content!

hi theelThomaso, this is common. Theres some things you have to do to avoid getting passed this way, perhaps i'll cover it in another video if its not already covered in the shin to shin clip.
