My boy was the greatest showman to ever walk this Earth.
I have heard this song from Sinatra, but never from Elvis before.... Elvis's version is sooo much better! LOVE this!
Pavorotti said, Elvis can sing like me but I can't sing like him!
Beautiful. Enjoy his music.
Frank Sinatra's generation sang happily about broken hearts and without passion . It was Elvis himself who changed music... HIS PASSION AND EMOTION frightened them. "The power of his emotion was frightening!" Not to mention how his wiggling made them want him in jail!
The King is Elvis!
Elvis was the greatest. No one else compares...
G.O.A.T.
Yes he sure could have been an opera singer.....love this performance.
I just listened to Sinatra's version of this song and wow couldn't be more different. Ol' blue eyes sings it almost like he is celebrating the breakup, now I'm a free man kind of feel. Elvis on the other hand is a tortured wounded soul, wondering the night without a goal. You can feel the pain Elvis puts into this song. The kind of pain this song is about, one of a man telling us of his broken heart. Excellent review, thank you!
Elvis Baby !
Elvis Presley the King of music forever,,, Elvis Presley the best singer on artist all times,,, Elvis the voice of God 👑🥇
Her name is Kathy Westmoreland beautiful opera voice. Been with him all of his 70s concert.
Sir
You have just witnessed the GREATEST ENTERTAINER THE WORLD WILL EVER SEE!!!!! No auto-tune no pitch correction just PURE PERFECTION!! No one will ever come close to Elvis the power the passion the emotion. A gift to us all from GOD himself. Long live the KING.
…True words and perfectly explained!! 🕺🏻🕯 Danke!
I don't think he was greatest. I give that to Jackson
No one could hold note like my boy.
He could have easily❤️ his range was out of this world 🌍🪐🥰❤️❤️❤️
After Elvis died, my Mother was in a store and some slob said Elvis couldn’t sing. There also happened to be an Opera teacher from Ohio State University there as well. She told the guy who she was, and then told him he didn’t know what he was talking about. She said Elvis had tremendous range, and beautiful voice and could have been a great Opera singer.
As you explained perfectly Elvis takes a song and makes it his own !!!
Elvis is the best ever my friend
And he was and is soooo good
That backing singer is Cathy Westmorland!!! Angelic !!
A legend!
A legend?!!! Are you for God damn real? Are you an elvis fan?! If so .. cop on?!!!!! This version made elvis look like an Alien!! Get a grip and ask him to play .. the proper version.
U know its true sinatra didn't want anything to do with Elvis until he met him then he couldn't get enough of him,Elvis was a true star in the sense
the goat
A man sings a man's song, now a days, vice grips got the men. Elvis is the man. Every song is to you and himself. Long live the king of rock and roll.
Elvis could sing anything, and did.
I'll always Love Elvis ❤
Elvis loved Mario. Lanza an opera singer back in the thirties and forties. Elvis once said he loved to listen to him.Maybe you should look him up and hear his voice very beautiful. Three people at the most beautiful voices I have ever heard Andrea Baselli Aron Nevils and ELVIS PRESLEY. Please excuse if I miss spell.
The KING - 'nuff said.
My man Elvis beautiful inside and out
Yes he is the king.
Pavarotti spoke several times of Elvis and opera. He said if trained he would make a great tenor. (Elvis had a 3 octave range and his voice is studied in college music classes)Pavarotti also said he does what he does and Elvis does what he does, but, he could never do what Elvis does.
Always a Great Reaction to the Greatest
Still watching in 2024! Elvis is still wonderful!
Elvis showcasing his operatic voice! He was unbelievably good! WoW! Just, WoW!
So beautiful!
Brilliant reaction my friend, best song in the show , yes your right about opera just listen to his song SURRENDER, Thanks
BEAUTIFUL, as USUAL for ELVIS. He is STILL THE KING !!!
That lady is Miss Kathy Westmoreland with the high pitch
Elvis will always make you feel it deep down in your heart and soul
Amazing!
Wonderful thanks 😊
This is a mind blowing performance, my boy was born to sing this, sleep well my super nova.
Hurt sounds like opera when Elvis sings it!!
I love this song by sung by Elvis.
His version is so powerful.
Grew up listen to Elvis, he was and will always be one of a kind.
He just needed a manager who cared more about him then how much money he could make off him.
So true....the way things turned out, he would have been better off with "Colonel" Sanders than "Colonel" Tom Parker. Both were not even real Colonels, Parker being all con artist carnival crap. No manager takes 50% or more of their client's earnings, let alone full control of their lives.
@@thomastimlin1724 he was a dog catcher in Tampa Fla( where I'm now)
What now my love is a translation of the original french song Et Maintenant written by Gilbert Becaud and Pierre Delancé and the translation is done by Carl Sigman. Also interesting to know that the rhythm is taken of the Bolero which is a Spanish dance and which is best known as done my Maurice Ravel.
The voice.. what a voice. And what an entertainer.. he could hold a crowd like no one else.
If I remember correctly, Luciano Pavarotti said of Elvis that if he had been properly trained in opera singing he would’ve been the greatest tenor of all time. This song is absolutely amazing the way it builds up Ravel‘s Bolero to that ending… Wow!
Yes, and he said Elvis was the best voice "out there". Andrea Bucelli said he wanted to be Elvis,"the best"!
Pavarotti said it's the one voice hell wishes was his own... true
Ravel didnt invent that rythm. The bolero is a Spanish folkrythm.
@@martiglesias60 I never said he invented it. Spreading division is bad policy.
Elvis was a baritone.
Elvis was a genre all by himself! Thank you Harri! Wonderful!
WOW Elvis did it again!! Thanks for the reaction!
Elvis always had his own version of whatever he sang.
OMG I've been waiting for you to react to this one of his greatest 😍 ❤
I sure care about him
He is missed
Great description of the capabilities of his voice, just unmatchable.
You are so on point with this reaction. Elvis made almost every song his own. After hearing Elvis’s version of “Bridge Over Troubled Waters”, Paul Simon commented, ‘..how are you going to compete with that?’.
* * * Starts out like a mellow adult contemporary song. If it ended before the crescendo, I would not have cared for it. BUT the genius is his rendition..... He purposely made the first part very plain in order to intensify the contrast when he went in the exact polar opposite with incredible energy.
Fantastic!
The lady with the high voice is Kathy Westmoreland who sang back-up with Elvis from '72-'77
Sinatra and Elvis's versions of My Way are also on opposing ends of interpretation.
Kathy Westmoreland was Elvis high voice singer. The song was originally a French song.
Beautiful Elvis always makes every song he sings his own bc he is magical. He is just so incredible! Thanks for your reaction.
There is an elvis recording done at home on cassette of this song in the early 60s or even 58 . So elvis was aware of it
The 👑!
Elvis sings his heart out with this epic song. His lost love and despair over the end of the relationship. He always sings a story with so much feeling and believability that I find myself hanging onto every word as not to miss anything. MAGNIFICENT!!!
Since my grammar school days he was in control of American music. Then The Beatles arrived and he took time away. Then came back to the top. I like his tune called Run On.

Wonderful reaction Harri 👏👏 yes Elvis did "erupt" at the end like only he can. This man's voice is so versatile and incredibly beautiful. I never tire of hearing his songs..⚡👍👌🇿🇦
Simply amazing! ELVIS voice phenomenal, and his looks and Charisma out of this world!
Kathy Westmoreland is the voice in the background that you hear…’the little girl with the incredible voice’ is how Elvis would describe her during the band introductions
A great popular French song Et Maintenant. It was first sung by Gilbert Bécaud in 1961, but there are many versions in French and English. Frank Sinatra recorded his jazzy version in 1966 and Elvis only ever sang it live at shows. Lots of good versions but I love this Aloha performance and Elvis's amazing voice! 👑
Yes! 🕺🏻🕯👑
You should never stop at the big build-Up the first time through ......
This song is about a man comitting suicide from lost love. Elvis is the best when highlighting the lyrics and what a powerful voice.
@robbansa * Yes!!! I always felt the song was about suicide. It is so obvious. But my friends are shocked when I say that. They feel it's just about lovers splitting up. The lyrics are so profound, you can feel the man's desperation. I don't understand how people miss that completely. Thank you for validifying my interpretation!
@@ihatechange Great minds think alike.
@@ihatechange Hello again Loretta. You seem to be in to desyphering Elvis lyrics and the meaning behind them, do you know what Elvis is singing about in the song Way Down?
@robbansa * In my opinion "Way Down" is about a man who is experiencing physical desire about a woman he's attracted to. "Way Down" referring to the pit of his stomach (and beyond, LOL!). I always thought the lyrics were quite suggestive, but Elvis could get away with it. What do YOU think?
@@ihatechange physical? I'm not following.
This one always gives me goose bumps!!! Like you say.. such power comes up!🔥. So fantastic! Thank you for great review! 🎶
Sinatra sings it almost as if it's a happy tune. Elvis brings it back to what it is.
Well said.
The man had a set of pipes and vocal ability that is really amazing. It changed so much through the years and just got stronger rather than weaken as many do naturally. This is so different from the voice he had in the 50's yet equally as good.
From An article in the Village Voice "Elvis Presley's three-octave vocal range was exceptional, 'very narrowly all at once a tenor, baritone, and bass'. included an assessment of his voice in classical terms, categorizing it as a 'lyric baritone ... [but with] unexpectedly rich low [notes] ... and astounding high notes*.
Beautiful description of his exceptional voice!
Thank you
I just keep going back to hear this...I just got deliverance again..that band.thatchoir..that king lookin man with a rather powerful voice washes over me with the best vibrations in history. It still makes my jaw drop and I watched it more than a few
Good song
He had a 3 octave vocal range...
Oooh Do a reaction to Elvis can’t stop laughing while singing Are you lonesome tonight - it’s so great
The first Elvis version is from Vegas 72.. Sinatra was first but orgin it's a French song... Elvis song is much much better.
Elvis loved some classical music, he used to play albums of the Opera singers that he really liked but, I don't know the names of these people but Elvis would practice singing like them and he had such control of his voice!!! Elvis was very good friends with Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack ! I saw him once in Bloomington, Indiana the concert before his last performance in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1977,
He really liked Caruso
Elvis loved opera and did a couple of songs with opera melodies. One was "It's Now Or Never" with the melody from "O Sole Mio.""
and surrender.😅
Thank you for your reaction to Elvis. His voice in unmistakable. You mention the different sound from Sinatra’s version. Elvis also did his own version of My Way and it too differs greatly from Sinatra. Worth a listen. 😊
F. S. could never hit the hi note in end like E. !!
I love your comments about Elvis, and your peaceful voice and vibe. I'm French, and this song was created by Gilbert Becaud, a great French singer : "Et maintenant".
He loved opera!
The beautiful high Soprano voice belongs to Kathy Westmoreland. You should react to another song from this concert called 'Something'.. It was written by the late George Harrison of 'The Beatles. Kathy and Elvis's voices shine in this song!
Shirley Bassey did it in 1962
Frank 1966
Elvis 73
Many others covered it
Elvis never recorded it in the studio
Only live
Kathy Westmoreland is the background singer
I remember Anthony Newley singing this, and the Tijuana brass putting their spin on it too.
Judy Garland also did a version of it.
This Aloha concert is burned into my memory as much as almost everything that's happened in my life. It seemed an eternity waiting for the day to arrive.
The female high voice here is Kathy Westmoreland. I believe she was dating at the time. The concert seemed to fly by. I don't think I got any sleep for 2 days before, or after. Great video. Really enjoyed your insights.
Sinatra was from the Big Band Era, Elvis is ages ahead of him in music style. Though they were friends.
Jane Morgan first recorded it in English in 1961.
Sinatra put it on an Album in 1966.
Elvis first sang it in 1973.
ELVIS SANG THIS SONG IN ''1972'' FOR THE FIRST TIME, AT THE HILTON/INTERNATIONAL HOTEL DURING HIS ''SUMMER FESTIVAL'' ENGAGEMENT, AS I WAS LUCKY TO BE THERE FOR SEVERAL PERFORMENSES.
Harribest... i miss you man... when are you coming back again???.
One of Elvis' greatest performances on this song. What you are watching here is a clip of something taken for granted today, but a big event in 1973, on my 17th birthday as well. It was a worldwide broadcast of the Aloha From Hawaii Elvis concert, going out live by satellite [gulp!] . It was unprecedented back in the day, except for the 1967 satellite broadcast that included the Beatles singing All You Need is Love." it is hard for those born later to imagine the experience of that moment in time with all the technology we have now. Yet as human beings, we still F-up all the time. To me, this was the last time Elvis stepped up to the plate and really delivered, after this early 1973 concert, for which he worked out and lost weight...after this it was all downhill for the next 5 years until his death. Just sad.
I remember very well!
There never be another one like this great man miss you king
Cher did a great version too but no one can sing it like Elvis. His emotional performance always makes it come from his heart. Thanks for the review, I enjoy your reactions to Elvis.
This song is an old French song. Elvis brought it back to its origins. Blew it off the charts.
Shirley Bassey sang this... many, many artists have tried. To me, this is the Gold Standard.
Frank Sinatra did a take making it a swing version.
Not bad but not traditional.
Great reaction.
This song is one of my favorites from this concert.
It's sad that he didn't sing it more often.
A few days before this concert he filed for divorce, because his wife left him and took his beloved daughter with her.
I guess it wasn't easy for him to sing it, because of these deep lyrics.
He sang it his way.
Another good example is "Yesterday" from the Beatles. Elvis sang it his way and it feels like you hear this song for the very first time.
Please give it a try!
Thanks so much for your reaction!
Btw Luciano Pavarotti once said.....Elvis could sing like me if he want to. But i could never sing like him......i wish i could
Please consider his song "Surrender", there's great opera notes in there.
mi tema favorito
Elvis was a big fan of tenor Mario Lanza. And for the song, 2009)
"What Now My Love"
Song
Published 1961
Songwriter(s) Pierre Delanoë (Original French)
Carl Sigman (English)
Composer(s) Gilbert Bécaud
"What Now, My Love?" is the English title of a popular song whose original French version, "Et maintenant" (English: "And Now") was written in 1961 by composer Gilbert Bécaud and lyricist Pierre Delanoë. The recurring rhythmic pattern in the background is the Boléro, an 18th century traditional Spanish dance perhaps best known for Maurice Ravel's reworking in 1928. English lyrics and the title were written by Carl Sigman
I alway’s say he was also an Opera singer.
