    Condo living is pretty much the only option for young people these days as they’ve been priced out of ever buying a detached home or even a townhouse.

      Mike Wilcox
      Must be really cheap apartment condos.
      Be safe to just say "cheap" is the only option for any type of home.
      I live in a gated upper middle class secure gated condo community with Italian homes, over 40 floor plans,and two car oversize garages.

    • @crosisofborg5524
      @crosisofborg5524 3 года назад

      Not true. In my area condos cost as much and more than a house.

      @@crosisofborg5524 Cause you are looking at the city center condos / luxury condos.
      There's no detached homes in the city center, so condos can sometimes be more expensive.
      If you look at middle-class condos near the suburbs you will see the prices will be 3 to 4 times cheaper than detached homes.
      It's all about location and how much land there is.
      I live in a townhouse in a large city and for the same amount I paid for my house I could buy 4 large detached houses in the small town I grew up in.
      Only problem: No jobs in the small town... Only good for retirement...

    1700 a month in HOA fees is just ridiculous.

    • @mikewilcox1487
      @mikewilcox1487 5 лет назад +5

      Right? I think he was just referring to the extreme high for say a penthouse mansion condo. $1,700 should be the total including mortgage payments + condo fees per month.

    24 years old make about 38,000 annually (moving in with my future wife). We plan on really only having 1 kid. I just don't know if the investment would be worthwhile, compared to living in a small home somewhere in the middle of nowhere (it's cheaper that suburbs and get more land). But at the same time I plan on getting condo right in downtown Chicago as I also enjoy the city as much as nature. These decisions are huge and it's making my head go nuts.

      I know it’s a year old but to narrow down the craziness just ask yourself are you willing to drive down into the city to enjoy it then come out of it when you’re ready

      As an adult, my best advice is invest half of what you make (when you start working) save a quarter of it in the highest percentage savings account you can (bonus if you do an IRA) and spend the remainder on whatever you want.

    What I'm hearing from my friends who are in condos is other tenants smoking weed on their balconies which comes into their condo. How can this be dealt with?

    • @JampaB

    Is renting in a condo usually cheaper then renting a room in a house?

    • @soundstudio1010
      @soundstudio1010 6 лет назад +7

      renting a room might be a bit cheaper. but you get more value when you rent a condo. the owner pays the HOA which covers the expenses of the amenities (gym, pool, etc),
