Safer Seas was a good move for building the games community. It takes time for new players to learn the intricacies of SOT that go beyond any tutorial. People learning and practicing on private servers gives them breathing room to actually learn the mechanics. Eventually they'll want more content and better rewards, and accept the risk of High Seas. I've seen new players now in High Seas that are more resilient after getting sunk, or don't just scuttle when you come near. I'm also more likely to jump on a High Seas server with others who know the game, and more PvP opportunities are presented. Honestly, before Safer Seas, I could jump on a server for 12 hours and have zero risk of conflict. Everyone avoided each other. Now I jump on, and I have to keep a constant watch for other players, which is how it should be.
I mean safer seas brought me back to the game. While I like pvp my group hated it so as they all stopped playing I slowly did aswell. Safer seas brought them all back temporarily and I'm slowly convincing them pvp is a key part of the game. One of them has even suggested doing hourglass now aswell which is a surprise because he's the one who outright detests losing even one chest to pvp
Looking at Steam charts we can see that 2023 was definitely not the best year for the game, but in December with the release of Safer Seas the game saw an increase of 12% more players peaking at 19k players. And now in January the players are increasing again with 21k peak. Me and my friends just picked it up and our first session was on Safer Seas and we had a great time. I can see why a veteran player would not find much interest in that mode, but from what I've seen on social media, it's what most people were waiting for. It's not made to amass a great amount of gold or complete every aspect of the game, but instead relax and play with friends or family without worrying of getting sunk by sweaty pvp players. All in all i think the game came a long way since their release and i hope i can slowly enjoy everything it has to offer up until it's 10th anniversary.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the game and there are valid reasons for safer seas to be added, I’m more against the implementation of the mode and the fact it really didn’t add anything new after a year of not much added to the game. I would also point out only a very small amount of the player base comes from steam so it’s not the most accurate when looking at the game’s health as a whole. It’s also hard to say whether it was safer seas that was the reason for the player increase or just a natural result of it being the holiday season with people off of school or work, I know I’ve played more in December and January just because of that
@@AgentMurden Well in my opinion it's time to adapt to what people really want, otherwise your game will never attract new players. We have entered an era were people want more single player experiences, Baldur's Gate 3 or Spiderman being the best examples. And like i said i think the only people that dislike Safer Seas are in fact, the veteran players, because without the newbies there is nobody to sink and make clips with.
@@AccelSternritter If you want a single player game, go play a single player game…. There’s tons, Assassins Creed Black Flag is a great example. The people upset with safer seas are not upset that new players aren’t there to sink. They’re upset that the game they love is changing its core principles. It was designed as a shared world PvPvE experience and now that is being messed up. It also feels like Rare has gone back on their word and gave into the minority of players who couldn’t handle ever losing
@@AccelSternritter bro Sea Of Thieves is 5 years old, your point?…. Again it’s not designed to be a single player game, if you want a single player game then play a single player game. Or just enjoy the game for the way it’s meant to be as a shared world PvPvE experience. It’s just that simple
It’s literally part of the game’s launch trailer, it definitely was in it at launch. You can also check patch notes and see it was added at launch on March 20th 2018 ruclips.net/video/r5JIBaasuE8/видео.htmlsi=Kwt773NbOAOWb2jC
SOT shot themselves in the foot. The game is dying as the never listened to their fanbase and nearly every update was putting lipsticks on a monkey with random updates that never addressed any issue. For the vets. They take away our DA cut out. Take away noobs in our servers. Give us no new world events or things to do, take away double gun skills. They deserve the failure they are receiving
"The game is dying. Get noobs out of our server" First, the game isn't dying. I run into new players and vets alike, EVERY day. While the removal of Arena was a deep cut, the game is still doing well. Last couple of seasons? Yeah, they were meh. Instead of bitching about new players, offer your help to teach them so if you ever bump into them again, they can properly fight and defend. Make their first experience fun, not stressful. Toxic fucks that treat new players like shit are why they leave. Been here since launch, and still offer a hand to new crews whenever I can to bolster their experience. Teaching how to aim cannons, what loadouts are optimal for each encounter and ship. I don't want people to leave, I want people to get better so my adventures are more exciting when I see those ships roll up. Don't worry about the state of the game. We don't want your kind on the seas, Captain Neckbeard.

Bro forgot about sea of thieves coming to ps5
It wasn’t announced yet before this video was released, it’s also only covering up until 2024
Kraken wasn't originally in it either
