One of the best games of the year. I agree with SU & SD take on it. It's better than Kemet and much better than Cyclades. It's a masterpiece of design. Get it. Asap.
Daniel Korolev hi, I’m wondering how this game has aged? Do you still play it? Do you still feel the same way about it? After owning, Playing a lot and understanding tactics and gameplay to a more complete level is it still exciting ?
@@doogiedog1234 It becomes only more and more exciting the more you play and the deeper you get. As does Cosmic Encounter. The only issue is that it's hard to bring new people into the game, they feel lost and it's boring for you if you're not playing your best. My number 1 game.
I'll second that!!! Took me a good 4 or 5 games at 2 & 3 player for it to really start clicking for me, but once it did WOW. Absolutely phenomenal game. I've played about 10 times now (4 2player games against my cousin in the last 2weeks) and the tension & cleverness & brilliance of it just keep elevating. It's now my number one game in my collection.
Nick Johnson I came here after the SU&SD review for more insite. I'm sold on the win condition and simple card drafting. The win looks like it has the same AH HA! feeling of Reiner Kniza Samurai.
i was first doubtful of getting the game cause of the bizarre board and initially not convinced of art. But when I got to see the cards...boy, this is one of the most unique, interesting and beautiful art in a game. In addition, this game is so elegant and deep with the card drafting, choosing with cards to keep that turn, trying to either win or avoid another player for wining. So simple and easy to teach but it definitely hast a lot of gaming. I agree with previous comments, this has to be one of the top games of the year.
Sam, I'd love it if you could start the overview with "This is how you win the game..." or "This is what you do on a turn..." Starting with the cards, I find it hard to follow the explanation in the beginning. Drafting and area control? Two thumbs up? How does it compare to Blood Rage?
I really dig the concept of the interlocking/jigsaw style board. I think it would have looked aesthetically better if they didn't have the white outline, though.
The game looks stunning! I skipped Blood Rage but this looks like it could scratch nearly all the same itches. Sam, what does Blood Rage do better than Inis? Is Inis more goal/area control focused vs Blood Rage more pt based? Blood Rage is more streamlined?
one of the first reviews of the game made mention that there could be some changes. I'm glad it doesn't seem like that is the case. Was just lead astray by someone.
Going to vary person to person. Blood Rage is more about card play and building up card combo's. I believe Inis is much more about tactical board play and more passive. Blood Rage is hyper aggressive and the board pretty much resets every round as you add to your combo's. One would appeal more to different people.
What he didn't mention is the advantage cards. Each territory has an advantage card, and if you are chieftain of a territory, you get that advantage card.
@@darinherrick9224 I disagree, the new box art while very well done and gorgeous art, looks like any generic fantasy art. Jim Fitzpatrick's fantasy, psychedelic, psuedo-art nouveau style on the other hand is bold, dramatic, eye-catching, and immediately identifiable. It stands out in a sea teaming with generic, over-produced, digital fantasy art. I can see why it turns some people off though, it's very busy, uses very saturated colours which doesn't appeal to everyone, and some of the compositions look like they were designed to be black light posters from the early 80's lol.
11:11 - “Clans that have exposed memb...uhh, nuh, exposed pieces” 😆
I would love to see a Miami Dice for this game, too see what Tom and Zee thought about it as well.
I think this game deserves it :)
Yes!!

Just played it for the first time and fell in love with it... as soon as I can I will get my hands on this one
As someone has mentioned it is pronounced "in-ish." Inis is the Irish word for Island :-)
The art looks like a mix of Art Nouveau + Moebius + Milo Manara. Beautiful art!
This would have been interesting Miami Dice. Really curious what others would have thought about it.
I heartily recommend you check out the 'Shut Up and Sit Down' review

I agree. We need to know!
+samhealy great overview. Definitely want try this game. Amazing to see Jim Fitzpatricks art in the game. 🇮🇪
Yep it's very cool. Some folks will be more familiar with Jim Fitzpatrick from his "Viva Che" poster www.jimfitzpatrick.com/viva-che/

I like you Sam Healy, I value your opinions. More reviews from just Sam please DT. ;)

Please, oh please, do a Miami Dice review of this game!
Gorgeous artwork! The playing board is so bizarre.
Eric Finley the board locks together for when you slide it over for more space!
I really dig the concept of the interlocking/jigsaw style board. I think it would have looked aesthetically better if they didn't have the white outline, though.
I actually saw that outline as very functional so the beautiful landscape artwork in the tiles doesn't merge together and possibly cause confusion.
It could have been black or dark green, but I like the white 🙂
The game looks stunning!
I skipped Blood Rage but this looks like it could scratch nearly all the same itches. Sam, what does Blood Rage do better than Inis? Is Inis more goal/area control focused vs Blood Rage more pt based? Blood Rage is more streamlined?
That board is nuts. I love it.
really hope they don't change the artwork for the full release
Asmodee just has the rights to distribute it, not to change the game, so the artwork will remain the same.
one of the first reviews of the game made mention that there could be some changes. I'm glad it doesn't seem like that is the case. Was just lead astray by someone.
If you check the forums, someone says they hope the artwork does not change and the publisher replies that the artwork won't be changed.
I have the retail release, and there are no changes.
Like this game! Thanks for the review.
Should I get Blood Rage, or hold off and get Inis when it comes out?

Inis expansion review plzzzzz
Sam, well thought out. Enjoyed this quite a bit.
Cool review!
15:20 best face!
pronounced "in" (as "in") + "ish" (rhymes with "fish")
Not if you speak English which we all do. It's spelled Inis, not inish. Solved.
It is the Irish word for "island". Pronounced "in-ish".
Get schooled, Daniel.
***** you mad, son?
Daniel, really? You trolling all the Inis videos to show how you don't care how it's pronounced?
Reminds me a bit of Deus with direct conflict.
Like this game! Sounds like good game mechanics and good expandability. What is the price point and publisher? Keep up the good work!
Asmodée is publishing I think it was $60 or 70
+Patrick Bergin $69.99
Publisher is Matagot, Asmodee is one of the distributors.
Love that art!
That artwork is awesome (except for the box)!
The box cover is dreamy. I love it.
The artwork is by the same guy who did the famous Che Guevara painting
+Subangelis Gaming so we shouldn't buy it then
really hope for a re-theme
What's it like having terrible taste?
Inis or Kemet?
My mobile phone goes crazy at 4:50. It always start "ok google". Someone noticed that, too?:D
"... [E]ach player will have a hand of four cards in their hand." *shows a hand of five cards*
Sam, u trolling? :-P
What he didn't mention is the advantage cards. Each territory has an advantage card, and if you are chieftain of a territory, you get that advantage card.
Looks good! That box art though, yeesh it's not to my taste!
yeah, some people don't seem to have any, this is so pretty!
Hideous. The new box is way better.

Risk with cards?
This is better than Blood Rage.
this is mostly a rules explanation, not a review
It's pronounced 'inish'
That was a very stuttering and awkward review for some reason
Takes forever to explain.
Sounds great, but the combat sucks and the board (and the board alone) is ugly.
Is this the guy who doesn't believe in evolution?
