    Wow finally an expansion to this game. I was getting a little burnt out on my copy. Looks like it'll breathe new life into it. Thanks for the review, Sam.

    Thanks for an amazing review! I've only had two playing sessions with my family and I'm already hooked. When we get good at the base game and possibly the card game, I will definitely look into getting this expansion and others.

    Thanks for the review, Sam. This looks great and I'm nearly as excited as you about it. Gotta give credit where credit is due, though. "Who would think of revealing yourself to use a special ability?" Well, the designer of Shadow Hunters. It's a great mechanic that I think will be great in Bang! too.

    looks fun! The base game was a big hit with my friends/coworkers. I think I'm most excited to try the ghost component.

    How fitting that my favorite reviewer of the Divine Trio of the Dice Tower tackles the expansion for one of my favorite games.

    Great job Sam. I love these modular expansions; pick what you like, leave the rest out, etc. Could you tell us why are there 9 character cards instead of 8? Looks like there are 3 Deputy cards vs. 2 in the standard game. Is there a 9 player variant in the expansion?

    Thanks for this. Good to see an expansion where we'll probably just play with everything anyway because nothing is hard to learn or teach.

      It came today and played a few games. There's nothing in there that complicates anything while it also makes the game a better experience. Awesome job. Everything an expansion should be.

    While I still prefer the card game (with expansions), I still quite enjoy the dice game, it is currently my 30th favorite game. I have been waiting for this expansion, didn't know it was out so soon. I think it all sounds good, except I am not sure if I like the Chief Arrow, we'll have to see in actual play.

    Judging from this review, I would say revealing the role changes the game in a bad way. If the deputies reveal themself early, renegades stand almost no chance at all to win.

    • @SamHealey6
      @SamHealey6 8 лет назад +8

      As one who has played with those new roles, I disagree with you wholeheartedly. While I understand that they won't be for everyone, I can say that they haven't altered the game at all in a bad way. They provide another tactical choice to the game. If a deputy reveals himself to become the new sheriff, one of the renegades can reveal himself to negate that (the other renegade can reveal himself to immediately have another turn). I understand where you're coming from, though. Often, the Renegade feels like he must act like a Deputy in order to try and survive to be man to man with the Sheriff. Yes, you may have to change strategies, but that isn't a "BAD" change.

      I agree with Jack. Probably depends on how competitive the players are. But it could create a domino effect of everybody revealing themselves on the first turnes and turning it into just dice rolling game without bluffing and accidentally shooting your teammates.

    • @dylanmcla
      @dylanmcla 7 лет назад

      it COULD but that's why there are special powers. Plus you're allowed to reveal who you are at any time in the base game, this just gives you a tactical ability to do so. Honestly it has in many play throughs made it so deputies who usually reveal early wait to try to get the full benefit of their reveal power.

    • @teacherliw
      @teacherliw 7 лет назад +3

      Dylan McCollum No, you can't reveal yourself in the base game unless you're eliminated.

    I don't understand the love bang the dice game gets. I just hate these mindless activities that try to pass of as a game. It doesn't seem like this expansion changes that.

    • @newtsmelt5415

      One really cool feature about this game is that if you don't like it, not only do you not have to play it, but you don't need to criticize it either. Seriously though, when you call the game 'mindless,' you may be insulting some of the people who both play and enjoy it. Also, your lack of understanding why people don't like it doesn't make the game any less fun.
      A really great thing about board games is how many types there are. I enjoy playing strategy games sometimes, but other times I want something that is just pure fun which can be played while drinking, can be taught to a group in minutes, and does not require deep thought. It's OK for there to be a spectrum of games. Games like this are easy to get non-gamers into, and if you do, you may get them to play some deeper games, too. Even if you don't, you can still enjoy this with them, or in your case, just skip it.

      My gaming group loves this mindless activity that is Bang The Dice game. My girlfriend loves Will Ferrell movies and my best friend loves Soccer. But despite I absolutely find all of these things absolutely mind numbing, it does not mean I like these people any less. So yes, I can actually call Bang a mindless stupid game with out it has any reflection of my feelings towards you as a person.

      This saloon ain't got yer games brotha.
      A pity you feel that way. You missed one of the reasons why hidden role board games are popular to begin with. It isn't so much about mastering "the game" as it as about your skills at mastering the "group" and utilizing the social/psychological chemistry of the group in your favor. Its an entirely different skillset that requires subtlety and sometimes charisma (things not found in a rule book).
      Game mechanics are only there to facilitate "your ability" to manipulate and deceive the group to fulfill your own agenda (think Poker). Role-playing with the theme also help and enriches the experience as well.

    • @dylanmcla
      @dylanmcla 7 лет назад +2

      Just to ask, what's mindless about this game?

    • @hypersapien
      @hypersapien 7 лет назад +2

      If you don't like it, fine, but why do you consider it mindless? I enjoy the social element of trying to deceive my friends, or trying to deduce everyone's allegiances, mitigating risk by shooting the people most likely to be against you. It's also hilarious when someone makes a mistake and ends up killing someone on the same side- and a game that brings laughter and smiles regardless of whether you won or loss is a good game in my book.
