I’ve been using InDesign since it was called PageMaker, and I always learn something new from Anne-Marie Concepcion’s tutorials, as well as those of David Blatner, Mike Rankin, Erica Gamet and others. Thank you all for everything! So many times, when I’ve been stumped and do a Google search to try and find the fix (because Adobe doesn’t address it), it has been InDesignSecrets.com that has come to the rescue. Recently, finally, I subscribed to the InDesign Magazine from the same group and, OMG, more great stuff! Thank you!
I dont have the wrap options drop down to change it to detect edges (also what if it doesnt detect my edges properly?) Where can I find these options elsewhere
If the text isn't responding to the wrap, make sure the text frame doesn't have "Ignore Text Wrap" checked. If you mean that the amount of wrap isn't changing, make sure the image doesn't just have a white background (it needs to know where the subject/background border is). If it's a white background, you can apply a clipping path first, then use text wrap on the object. -EG
Hi. Is there maybe a possibility to wrap the text around (the other a little bit bigger) text? Not talking about wrapping around the text box, but around the shape of the (bigger) text letters? I tried that by converting the large text to object and it works. However I heard that printing houses do not recommend converting text to objects. This is why I would like to wrap text around text ('s shapes). Any ideas what to do? Thank you.
No, converting to outlines would be the only option. You could always duplicate the text you want to wrap around, and keep the regular text frame on top (and setting the text frame to ignore text wrap, if needed). -EG
Yes, it worked in CS6. You need to select the image with the Direct Selection tool, needs to be on a white background (though a light object on a black background might also work), and the “bug” with the stacking order (text in front)…then choose wrap around object shape. -EG
@@CreativePro Sorry, but I cannot make it work. I would like to send you the file I am working on or a screenshot; in Direct Selection the edges are detected but they do not affect the text.
@@DayakaranH Yes, she pointed that out in the video... but it's confusing because normally it doesn't matter which item is on top (a bug or a feature? who knows). I don't think it has to be on different layers, though. -EG
Well that was way easier than what I was doing... I usually take the image into Photoshop and mask it and then place the PSD instead of the JPG. NO MORE! Thanks for the tip!
Hi Anne-Marie Could you please include subtitles in the videos you share? The transcripts are very useful to understand the videos integrally for all people who do not have English as their main language. Thank you very much.
We have always had the auto-generated ones at the very least. They are not on apparently for these last few. We will fix that. Thanks for brining this to our attention! -EG
That was wordenful! Quick, straight to the point, easy to follow. Thak you.
Thank you so much! You just saved the day. Much appreciation!
You all are great!
We think you all are pretty great, too!

Do you have the image (not the frame) selected with the Direct Selection tool? -EG
Thank you!!
thank you
I am adjusting the padding around my image, but it is not applying it to it?

@@CreativePro Tried it again in a new doc and the padding is changing now! Must have been the "ignore text wrap" on it.

@@CreativePro Thank you. This is exactly what I did yesterday after posting this text.
I even hide the outlines and the text wrap works on.
Thank you!
Brilliant! 😄
To which version of InDesign does this tip apply? It does not appear to work with CS6.

Aha! The edges are detected IF the frames are on different layers and the text frame is ABOVE the image. The penny has now dropped.
