In this vlog we try Martabak (Indonesian food) for the first time. We love to try new things and love to eat at local warungs in Bali. This time we ordered Martabak and in the video you will see if we like it. Bart even spiced it a bit up and tried a green pepper, you don’t want to miss his reaction.

I am Indonesian and I'm not eat martabak with chili. That's the wrong way to eat martabak, usually i eat it with cucumber or the sauce not the chili.

Martabak versi Indonesia memang lezat
If you wanna try low-level spicy food, come to Padang Restaurant and then order Beef Rendang or Ayam Goreng (also Green sambal)... the based sauce/gravy is quite spicy for 0 experience with Indonesian spicy food :D
i think the trick is, you cover the chili with the meal. bite the meal then the chili. don't leave the chili bean alone. it needs a company. ^_^ otherwise it will burn your mouth. spice definitely increases the taste. and mix with the pickle will add the flavor as well. imo, Indonesian food is about mixing things to get rich taste experience.
Pancakes (sweet) are Martabak Manis. What you have eaten was egg martabak, which is usually also made with meat.
BTW, drinking milk is a way to treat spiciness.

Or u can try the other varian of martabak, sweet martabak or martabak bangka, its realy2 good taste and so pretty delicius👌
you ave to try sweet martbak because most of bule love sweet martabak
you have to try the nasi pecel, it's a lot of vegetables, chicken, eggs and very healthy and given peanut sauce and a little spicy

There's 2 kinds of Martabak.
Martabak Manis (thick sweet pancake) and the classic topping is chocolate, cheese, and nuts.
Martabak telur (savory). Classic one would use duck egg and minced beef. This is the one you tried, but you tried chicken instead of beef.

yeah that green chilly stings when you first take a bite and it would slowly go away
if you eaten so many type of sambal, you'll know instantly which one is spicy and which one is not.

You have to try Nasi Padang with beef rendang. Its arguably the best Indonesian food. Pls check out Natrabu Minang Restaurant.

oh my god you're soo brave, i cant even handle the spice until recently lmao
but the martabak looks good, usually the better one comes with a sweet and sour sauce from tamarind but recently some came with just the saus sambal too, the white side is the pickle~!
my recomendation for food in bali is actually Nasi Jinggo pak Gundul. The portion might be small but it's super cheap with pack of taste!
for healtier option, please try gado-gado or even ketoprak! both comes with indonesia style peanut sauce so if you'd like please check it out ;)
Well, if we are talking about spicy dishes in Bali then you could try something like Richeese factory level 5, Mie Gacoan (Mie Setan) or Ayam Geprek lvl 10. But if you want to try yummy foods then you could try something Satay/Sate (chicken or goat), Gule, Tongseng, or more common dishes like Bakso, Nasi goreng, Soto Ayam or Mie Ayam..well, the choice is up to you afterall.. 🤔

If you still wanna try Richeese, try the Richeese original level 0, or level 1. That level 1 is a friendly level spicy food.
Above that level is not recommended. ;-)
Try Bakso, one of the most popular dish in Indonesia.

Hello please do it step by step ro eat green chili like i was a kid as indonesian.. For me it took one week to get bigger bite of green chili and now i already used to.... I always enjoys when bule (name of foreigner by local) try indonesian food... Now i become your subscriber..

My advice is try the food and the stuff in Bali : Rendang, Nasi goreng, Gado gado (Indonesian salads), satay, kopi luwak (the most expensive coffee in the world).
Most expensive coffee maybe outside of country but luwak in indonesia is not expensive cause u can get easlie here

Zeker niet ertussen stoppen, dus heel goed gedaan Bart!👌Misschien is de zoete variant wel wat voor jou, Paulien? Ik wil jullie het volgende lekkernij aanbevelen: de 'rudjak manis' (tegenwoordig schrijf je het zonder 'd', maar voor de uitspraak is het nu ff praktisch). Dit lekkernij bestaat uit div Indonesisch fruit, in stukjes gesneden met daarover heen overheerlijk pittig-zoet-zure saus. Wáánzinnig lekker!! Vaak vragen ze hoe heet je 'm wil hebben (gewoon, middelmatig, goed heet), ze maken het vers voor je neus klaar in zo'n vijzel: altijd leuk voor de foto/film. Zijn verkrijgbaar in eettentje of karretje op straat/langs de weg, foodcourt bij 'n shoppingmall en soms zelfs op het strand! Succes, ben héél benieuwd wat jullie ervan vinden!😀

If you wanna upgrade the spiciness, try cabe setan / lombok setan. Its color varying from greenish, yelowish, to reddish. It's spicier than green chili.

If you like high calories try Martabak Manis (Sweet Martabak)
Yes it's delicious, but a bit oily..
That's why most Indonesian people only eat it once in a month..
Those are two types of martabak. Martabak telor (that you ate) and other is Martabak manis (sweet).
(Actually any other martabak, named Martabak Kubang, it comes from west sumatra, I am not sure available in Bali or not). The most popular Martabak telor is filled with beef.
By the way, please try Martabak Manis. Maybe you will like it.
