I’ve been using the Andis T outliner my whole shaving life and literally this week I decided, against my Barber’s advice and my own intuition, to try to use a razor to wet shave; wanted to try something new. I started to feel like under my chin was bruised and sore. ...... Never again lol If anyone else feels like they want a closer shave with the Andis shavers go to a professional blade sharpener (I asked my barber) and get them to sharpener the blade in your electric shaver I think us black men, especially with curly hair, should avoid the razors all together unless it’s the single straight blade
Somehow late to ask this question but did you use any after shave creams or oil after getting your try shave with the trimmer? The trimmer I use is the wahl razor edge. It just as good as any of the professional grade Andis trimmer. For my head I use Oster fast feed with Speed -O- Guide. I have same shaver as you . One thing to know about the Andis trimmers is that Andis outliner two and Andis T outliner are 10 watts. Where the Andis headliner 2 trimmer from Walmart has same blade as Andis T outliner and is 12 watts. To get the full 12 watts out of the Andis headliner 2 use swap over the cord from Andis T outliner or Andis outliner two. As for the Wahl razor edge you can bump it from 9 watts to 10 watts if you like just make re-line the blades after turning the screw
You are right I just use the andis t-outliner and its close enough for me and no razor bumps. For many years I used those gillette sensor razors and they are horrible for the skin. Now I am trying to get rid of hyperpigmentation that was caused by years of shaving.
@@iblattparty671 I had hyperpigmentation on the sides of my face and underneath my chin and neck area. Razor bumps seems to cause layers of hyperpigmentation . Over the years I have used a product called Tend Skin along with some thing for hyperpigmentation like hydroquinone or Vitamin C. However the only thing that completely cleared my skin and cured hyperpigmented areas is to grown a beard and stop shaving for months at a time. When I do shave to avoid razor bumps I use the t outliner and for a close save without the razor bumps I will go over my face with an Andis foil shaver.

thank you for the information. It's always great to hear another person's tried and tested methods of how they groom themself. Especially as a fellow young black (and ethnic) background. Blessings to you sir!
I've been using these two for over 4 years now. It's not bad. Not perfect, but much better then shaving and other products I've tried. However, I wonder how the Andi's "T-liner" would compare to the relatively new "Philips OneBlade." I've heard great things about the "OneBlade," but I don't want to waste my money if it's not any better then the "T-liner," for brothers like us who are prone to bumps and ingrown hairs.

Johnny Hustle Based on the ‘men’ I come across during my daily life in Japan who have beards, nothing could be further from the truth. A bunch of beta males who speak with the reasoning of angry feminists. And I’m not talking about Japanese men.
Hi, thank you so much for posting all this detailed information, it's very much appreciated. Can I ask you please, having listened to every step in your process which you outlined, I am a little curious. Because you have admitted that after using each shaving tool you experience a deep burn once you then apply the post shave balm. With your skin them being so reactive, how do you manage to immediately scrub it with an abrasive cloth in the shower?, or do you wait for several hours to pass or the following day before you do that final shower step to exfoliate? Sorry to be picky, but if I follow your lead which I will to some degree, I want to prevent any undue discomfort I may experience if I inadvertently over-expose my skin to abrasive treatments. Thanks very much once again 🙂
Hey! Most of the burn comes from the Andis T-Outliner, and not the Wahl Shaver Shaper because the blades are quite sharp, and I have sensitive skin. Since making this video I stopped using the Andis, and have been using a zero-gapped hair trimmer you can get on Amazon for about $20. They come in black and gold. I started selling them for a while, but the market is saturated with them. The scrubbing in the shower with the nylon cloth is not as bad as you think. I always shower immediately after the dry shave, and I’m fine. Recently I upgraded to the Wahl Finale, still using the sensitive head I buy directly from the Wahl website, and I haven’t been getting bumps. The key is to have sharp blades on your clippers or hair trimmer to get the shave close before you smooth things off with the Wahl. After my shower I use the unscented Vaseline lotion (in the white bottle) to moisturize, and finish off with a vitamin C oil, which really helps with getting rid of the dry ashiness I get on my neck. That is something I buy at the drugstore in Japan. Hope this helps. Key thing is to let all your hair grow out, and don’t shave until all sensitivity is gone. Good luck!
Mark's Mind afterwards I always rinse my face with cold water because it closes your pores then I facial cleanse and rinse with cold water again. And use Diabetic lotion because it really keeps my face moisturized.
I can't use either so i switched to double ege razor with bump patrol shaving cream and bump patrol maximum strength after shave. Works like a charm and at night i use bump stopper. Day time i used coconut oil to keep mybskin moist.
Dry shaved saved me I turned 18 I shave a lot to keep my youthful appearance but I will grow my facial hair eventually just not right now and wet shave was the worst thing I did my mom told I’m not supposed to use razor as black so I switch to t liners the best thing I ever did
Where can I get the black sensitive foil. I looked in amazon and I can only find a black super close foil. is that the one? I would greatly appreciate it if you can send me the link.
They used to be on Amazon, but you can get them directly from the Wahl website. I recently upgraded to the Wahl Finale with the sensitive foil. No bumps. wahl.com
You’re not going to get it with the sensitive head. You have to buy it separately directly from their website. It used to be on Amazon, but not anymore.
The Wahl shaver gave me razor bumps all over my cheeks. I've never had a razor bump in 10 years until I tried that Wahl shaver. I'll stick with the T-Outliners.
What is the difference between the 5-Star Series #7031-400 Replacement Foil, #7031-300 Replacement Foil, #7031-200 Replacement Foil and the #7031-100 Replacement Foil?
It will be helpful if you list the steps. First what did you do to get rid of razor bumps at the time they were apparent? Did you just leave it and they went away or did you use anything in conjunction with needles? Also, I am assuming you do nothing before you shave to open your pours etc. Would be helpful if you listed it.
PADDY D I used nothing in conjunction with the needle. My girlfriend just lifted out the hairs over a period of days, and I didn’t shave during that time. When the sensitivity went, I shaved with the andis, and then wahl. I then scrubbed my face in the shower with the nylon cloth. It’s just that simple.
no matter what I use I still get bumps. wet/dry, razor/shaver, pre shave pouder/pre shave oil and still bumps all over so in my own words its not about what you use but its about your skin type. even applying pre shave oil that cost £70 still gives bumps. SO NO, this method is not for everyone. You can be white black green or gold but you still get bumps if your skin type is not compatible with shaving.
Maybe consider growing your facial hair out, do the needle work I suggested, keep it tidy with a guard on your trimmer/clipper, and brush it in a downward motion to train the hair. I started selling my own hair trimmer. Check out this video to learn more. Discount code in description. ruclips.net/video/ROPMDYyUw-A/видео.html
@@neno56527 shaving. But to be honest, it’s not even necessary if you don’t care about your shave being super close. I got this hair trimmer from TEMU recently. It’s cheap, and doesn’t give me bumps even after using the second shaver. share.temu.com/I6ziveRRHKA
Was curious, did the super close head give you bumps and burning and is that why you recommend the sensitive foil head ? Does the sensitive head give any bumps?
The super close head definitely gave me bumps. With the the sensitive head it’s not so bad if I move it very gently over my skin. Please check out the description box for a cordless hair trimmer I started selling that comes highly recommended by me.
I use a braun 9095 and a Panasonic eslv95 they pair well together . I still get burn in the back neck area . Almost forgot to mention I shave my head as well as my face
Wanted to post links to the products, but seems like they have been selling out FAST. I suspect the people who have been watching this video have been snapping them up fast.
I will try the wahl. The and is profoil used to be the best close shaver to avoid razor bumps. I'd learned, way late, about shaving with the t outliner. I wish I had only ever shaved with it from the start.
Crazy thing is I skipped over shaving with a razor and tried clippers and they messed me up so bad under my chin and neck area.I tried laser hair removal and feel as if it made it worse with the hyperpigmentation and stuff.I really need some advice
I'm trying to get away from the razors myself. I've had the Andis Styliner2 for years, but the liners just don't get close enough once you get used to the smoothness that a razor gives.I've tried the rotary shavers and they will bump me too. Recently my brother bought a grooming kit that he wasn't too excited about. It was the Wahl Groomsman Pro. In the package was a small foil shaver head. I tried it once and got a very close shave after trimming everything with the Andis first. Being a smaller shaver that I don't think was meant to be used regularly, I'm thinking about getting a full sized shaver. just can't decide between the Andis Profoil Lithium or the Wahl Finale 5 Star.
Great information! I've been dry shaving using an Andis clipper for the last couple of years. It does a very good job at bump control, but I've never followed up with a Wahl shaver. I'm ordering one now!
MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN YOUR EQUIPMENT! This method used to never work for me but I started cleaning (andis spray, brushing loose hair) before I shave and now I’m getting positive results. I’m sure I don’t need to clean it after every shave, but I am at least for now I am.
Good video brotha....I'm gonna subscribe! I use the Wahl G-Whiz trimmer and the Wahl 5-Star trimmer when I shave just like you do.. However....I didn't think of using the SENSITIVE foil on the 5 star trimmer. I've been using the super close foils Lol! Good stuff. I'll have to try that. I don't have alot of bumps at all because I've been using this combo for about 3 yrs now. Under the neck I still get a little irritation which is why I'm going to try those sensitive foils. For face wash I use Dove White bar or the Cetaphil which I just started using. Works great!
Thanks for your comment, bro. Since putting out this video I’ve started supplying a hair trimmer I now use instead of the Andis. In my opinion I think it’s even better. It’s not as harsh on the skin. I also started using the Wahl hypoallergenic foil instead of the sensitive foil. Both are about the same.
Peace to the Homie for this video. I suggest using the Andis Profoil along with the trimmer. It will have you as smooth as a straight razor. Make sure you exfoliate after using.
I have both the Andis Profoil and the Wahl shaver. The Wahl is much better in my opinion. It's simply more powerful and cuts closer. I actually used the Wahl for months first and then bought the Andis later. I was happy with the Wahl but was thinking maybe I could find something better, hence the Andis. Save your money, not even close. Wahl all the way. I just ordered the sensitive attachment though. Hopefully I won't bump anymore at all.
Also, there's two versions of bump patrol, regular and maximum strength. Maximum strength works best for me and goes on clear unlike the regular strength. The regular strength dries to a white milky film on your face. As a result, I only used it at night. The maximum can be used whenever because you can't see it.
Could you do a review on the pit bull shaver? I found out I can't get that close shave without getting little bumps on the back of my neck. I use extreme bumb stopper and exfoliate but after so many shaves I still get the small bumps. So I need a little stubble instead of that baby smooth cut. Pit bull shaver after looking at reviews seems to give you that. The upside of that shaver is the time it saves in shaving. If I'm doing I t every morning I want to get it out the way. That's just my take on it, so if you got the time I'd like to hear what you have to say about that shaver.
Eric I’m a bit cautious about trying things like that. You know the old saying, “If it ain’t broken, don’t try to fix it”? I could test it and mess myself up and then have to start from scratch. Why don’t you try it and tell me how it worked for you? Upload a video and share it with me. ✌🏾
Devin Johnson they can last quite a while. I changed the foil and the blade thingy recently on mine. The old ones were on there for about a year. I reckon I’ll do it every six months from now on.
I've never used the WAHL on my head, because I always only cut my hear to a 1.5 guard, but my boy in NY does it, and he doesn't get bumps. Remember, the sensitive head foil.
+Mark The Tremor Trainer are the black "lithium" heads okay to use? or should I still stick with the black "sensitive" heads on the foil shaver by wahl?
Man this is great help and I hope it works for me , but id like to know a few things pleaseee.1) Do u let your beard grow back and if so do u still get razor bumps?2) Do u use the nylon cloth after or b4 shaving?3) Tbh I got way too much questions
Paul Junior Hey man! I sometimes let it grow a little, like over the weekends, and I get no razor bumps. I use the nylon cloth in the shower after I shave. About to go do that now. ☺
What would you suggest for razor bumps on the back of the head? They come and go. Look like pimples. I bust them just like pimples. I work in a warehouse and also I swear from working and playing sports as well as lifting weights and it feels like it gets bad back there. If you suggest anything I deeply appreciate it.
blaze318318 If your neck bumps come and go it’s probably likely that it has more to do with what your barber uses on your hairline. I’d suggest not having him/her using a straight razor round there. Just use the clippers. Just like I use the needle to flick out the ingrown hairs, I’d suggest that you get your significant other to get them out for you that way.
Bump Patrol, but to be honest, you don’t even need it. I’m dropping an update video in the next couple days about shaving and razor bumps. You’re not gonna want to miss it.
Just stop using it. I ordered a hypoallergenic foil from the Wahl website the other day. Waiting on it now. Hoping it’s better than the sensitive foil. You could try that. If that doesn’t work, just shave your head with your clippers/trimmer. I started selling a trimmer recently. More info in this update video. ruclips.net/video/ROPMDYyUw-A/видео.html
Kirin Greene From what I could see I think it's something to do with the size of the holes. The sensitive head has slightly smaller holes. My dad and I used the original super close foil and both of us got bumps. Go with the sensitive, man. ✌🏾

My man, try bump eraser if you haven't yet - game changer for real!
ekso420 I don’t have the bump problem anymore though. Thanks though. ✌🏾
Thanks a lot Mark, your video was clear and even though I haven't tested it yet, very helpful. I got to get myself these two devices.
Is the second device shaving your hair or depilating it from the root?
Have you ever used magic shave? Also how often do you have shave?
I’ve never used it. I shave every day for work, but when I don’t have work I let it grow out for a bit.
Electric shave or outliner cuts closer ?
c J You need to cut down with the Outliner first, and then smoothen off with the 5 Star Shaver Shaper with the sensitive head.
you can buy a new andis blade at your local beauty supply for about 15 dollars
What do you wash your face with, aside from the nylon cloth? Any liquid cleanser or scrubs?
Toju Ajeks Just my shower gel and then moisturizer.
I use a braun 9095 and a Panasonic eslv95 they pair well together . I still get burn in the back neck area . Almost forgot to mention I shave my head as well as my face
How often do u shave everyday?
does the Wahl 5 star shaver/shaper come with the sensitive skin blade or is it a separate purchase? thanks!
Ivo Teneng It comes separately.
What face cream do u use & do u use ot around your beard area too?
I use a Japanese brand. I use it all over. Even on my head because my hair is that short.
Wanted to post links to the products, but seems like they have been selling out FAST. I suspect the people who have been watching this video have been snapping them up fast.
Have to say that I use tweezers to remove ingrown hair. The add some witch hazel gel which reduces the inflammation. Works for me.
freesportube It's all about doing what works for you.
Where can you get the sensitive head from?
Mike Murry Amazon or eBay.
Did you try the Norelco "One blade" yet. If so give a review
My gf new task is to remove my grown hairs!
Hey man, are you originally from Jamaica? I can hear it in the accent.
Yeah, man! Born in England, grew up in Jamaica, and then back to England after high school. Now in Japan. Real island boy. 😂
@@MarksMind Respec' bredrin!! Keep up di good work.
Try doing what I advised with the needle. I’ve also done a Part 2 to this video. If I remember, I put the link in the description.
Thanks for these very needed information. How often do you shave ?
Gabrielle Munroe Sometimes everyday, but during the holidays I might go a few days without shaving.
Richard Cranium That small foil attachment that comes with the Groomsman Pro gave me razor bumps as well. Try my method.
But how can I get it
The internet is a wonderful place.
did you/anyone compare wahl with braun shavers? I am planning for my next electric shaver and your opinion is important.
Ahmed Rezk I haven’t used any Braun shavers, so I can’t give you any help there. Sorry!
Mark The Tremor Trainer thanks a lot for interest 😊
What moisturizer do you use?
Abigale Albert A cheap Japanese brand. I live in Japan
very great video ... i'll try your methods hope they work. Thanks again
Jacques Simon My pleasure, Sir!
Great information! I've been dry shaving using an Andis clipper for the last couple of years. It does a very good job at bump control, but I've never followed up with a Wahl shaver. I'm ordering one now!
Mike L Remember the sensitive foil as well. 👍🏾
Peace Joy Ok. Do what works best for you. As long as you're not getting razor bumps, that's all that matters.
Is this good for your head?
THE HOLLYWOOD ROCK I haven’t shaved my head in years, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem.
My grandfather bought me an Andis profoil shaver yesterday. Shaves so smoothly, my face gets all baby soft.
This may be a stupid question but when you say dry shave do you mean to shave without using shaving cream ?
Joe Yes. Exactly that. ✌🏾
MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN YOUR EQUIPMENT! This method used to never work for me but I started cleaning (andis spray, brushing loose hair) before I shave and now I’m getting positive results. I’m sure I don’t need to clean it after every shave, but I am at least for now I am.
iceyjf127 Most definitely!
Deon Christopher Nice one man! And please check out my website in the description. I have a kick-ass workout program.
So it comes with the sensitive attachment?
No, it doesn't. I had to order mine separately.
Against grain works best for my skin because my hair is so curly that with grain gives bumps
No go for me lol
Excellent video. I figured this out by just taking some time. Afterwards I wet shave. I'll look for the sensitive version.
@@MarksMind Thank you very much. You're helping me make a decision 👊🏽
Peace to the Homie for this video. I suggest using the Andis Profoil along with the trimmer. It will have you as smooth as a straight razor. Make sure you exfoliate after using.
Thanks, man! When my wahl goes I'll replace it with the Andis Profoil. Peace
How long can you go before you have to replace the blade in the Wahl shaver?
Devin Johnson they can last quite a while. I changed the foil and the blade thingy recently on mine. The old ones were on there for about a year. I reckon I’ll do it every six months from now on.
Mark's Mind Cool! Thanks, Mark.
so the 5 stars works with ingrown hair right ?
trevon sherod Follow everything I say to the letter and you'll notice a huge difference if you have ingrown hairs.
Does that work for bald heads?
I've never used the WAHL on my head, because I always only cut my hear to a 1.5 guard, but my boy in NY does it, and he doesn't get bumps. Remember, the sensitive head foil.
I use my Andi t outliner on my head and they work great.
great advice bro surely will try it🙌
Jerome Edwards Glad I could help! ✌🏾
+Mark The Tremor Trainer are the black "lithium" heads okay to use? or should I still stick with the black "sensitive" heads on the foil shaver by wahl?
khriseagle Go with the black sensitive. Works well for me.
Should I wet the cloth while in the shower or should I dry scrub my face? Thanks in advance!
Wet with your shower gel/soap.👍
Can you get razor bumps from the barber cutting my hair he uses the razor for my face I've never shaved with a blade before just a barber clippers?
That I don't know. If your barber cleans his/her clippers and razors you should be good. The texture and how your hair grows has a lot to do with it.
Just like I use the needle to flick out the ingrown hairs, I’d suggest that you get your significant other to get them out for you that way.
where did you get the sensitive attachment from.
Raymund Turner Amazon.com
They're on eBay as well.
Mark The Tremor Trainer also for the andis t outliner how long does the blade last and does it matter if you get the regular one or the outliner 2.
Raymund Turner The blades seem to last forever. I use the Outliner II.
That's not the T blade.
What is the bump suppressor aftershave??
Bump Patrol, but to be honest, you don’t even need it. I’m dropping an update video in the next couple days about shaving and razor bumps. You’re not gonna want to miss it.
Bro I use that foil shaver against the grain and i still get bumps on my head. What can I do?
Just stop using it. I ordered a hypoallergenic foil from the Wahl website the other day. Waiting on it now. Hoping it’s better than the sensitive foil. You could try that. If that doesn’t work, just shave your head with your clippers/trimmer. I started selling a trimmer recently. More info in this update video. ruclips.net/video/ROPMDYyUw-A/видео.html
Great vid straight forward and informative
Thank you!
Can the shaver shaper be used to shave bald heads?
Yeah been using for a couple years now. I also have balding clippers
Why the sensitive head vs the super close head?
Kirin Greene From what I could see I think it's something to do with the size of the holes. The sensitive head has slightly smaller holes. My dad and I used the original super close foil and both of us got bumps. Go with the sensitive, man. ✌🏾
Mark The Tremor Trainer ok thanks man..I already have the shaver shaper, now I'm going to look for the sensitive head
Kirin Greene I posted a link in the comments somewhere.
I can't find the sensitive head online
I got it last year directly from their website. I bought one of them, and one of the hypoallergenic ones as well.
I still got bumps from The andis shaver
T-Room Happy New Year, man! Are you disinfecting your blades frequently?
Mark The Tremor Trainer yes I wipe them off with water I even exfoliate and wash my face before shaving and use rubbing alcohol after and I still get bumps from those clippers
T-Room I clean mine with disinfectant spray. Try my needle technique, let your beard grow out and then try again. Good luck!
T-Room Don't use alcohol. Use witch hazel and aloe vera gel. Alcohol tends to irritate certain people's skin.
@@JMadlock108 the hazel is better?
Does the foil razor cause razor burn?
Yes and no. If you move it along gently you’ll be fine.
I just bought the Wahl 5 star finale lithium. will respond in two days to let you know if I bumped.
Raynell Holmes how is it?
I bumped at first but my skin seems to be getting use to it. The key is cutting as close as you can with the Outliners first.
How is it going now?
Noxzema helps too
I use hydrocortisone as an aftershave..
What kind of moisturizer do you use
dominicnichols Vaseline intensive care advanced repair unscented. In the white bottle.
@@MarksMind Man, you're using every single thing that I use...from the needle to pull out ingrown hair, letting hair grow for a week, using the Andis T outliner...to the moisturizing warm wash to cold water wash and vaseline! I learnt all that from watching my barber and ... Yes, it works like a charm! Thanks for sharing the hidden wisdom of the sages!
