I have been following Elle and Toni for five years or so, they are amazing artists. I was lucky enough to see them perform live about two years ago, great show!
Elle is a genius! I love everything she does! Toni is a tremendous musician as well. I love when they team up with their friends. It's always worth the listen!
Elle is one of the cleverest lyricists around - her literary background has served her well in that regard. And as for Toni - quite simply and excellent multi-instrumentalist, with particular emphasis on her guitar work.
Elle is a genius for whom my jaw drops in admiring awe. Her insight into every corner of current life and the universe brings to mind the great polymaths of history, Goethe, Athanasius Kirchner, Aristotle, etc., although still in a formative stage. While all of her work that I have seen (mainly RUclips shorts) makes me smile and laugh and dash off recommendations to other, some of it (I'm thinking of the dependency plea of the Earth to the Moon in particular) leaves me floored by its symphony of knowledge, insight, and creativity. Elle is a national treasure.
I am one of the "newer" fans, and I never want miss Elle (and Toni) again. Musically, I can imagine that they are really afraid the new album will not be good enough especially compared to "Candy Apple Red" and "The Cooling". Producing such brilliant songs cannot be planned. The only thing I would like them to do is, to communicate honestly to us as fans. I think we all would understand, if it takes longer than expected or even if the time is not yet right. Love both for all they did so far 🙏😎💛🧡❤💜💙💚

Often they do special things for the holidays, so I'm hoping for a new Christmas song. The Chuck Berry cover, Run, Run Rudolph is a particular favorite.
I have watched and loved literally everything Elle has done; unlimited praise and appreciation for her genius. However, I think a loyal fan has a responsibility to point out faults as well as strengths. I came to Elle because of her work with Toni. Together, they created songs that were relevant and perfect. I fee that Elle and Toni have abandoned the loyal fans who have been with them for their original songs, from the beginning (Library Girl) through their latest (The Garden), which was almost a year ago. Other than you, Fortivo Music, I have not been able to find any information on why they have abandoned their special art form. It appears that at least Elle has abandoned her most gifted talent in favor of whimsical intelligent diversions. Please ask them to return to their original songwriting. With love.
Elle is a brilliant -- if uneven -- songwriter, but one who seems to have actively avoided success. And I can quite understand why that might be: she could churn out pop ditties in her sleep, and presumably fears being forced to do just that if captured by a major label. But surely there could be some sensible middle way?
She isn't allowed to take a "break" (if you can call producing 90 original video sketches in a year a break)? And, she played a cover with Toni and Josh a couple months ago, wrote an original song ("Ballad of the Ballot") right before the election, gave a TED talk two weeks ago, played some shows (i think), and who knows what else. Compare her to most other songwriters, who only do that, and put out an album's worth of songs every couple years. We don't love her because she churns out content. We love her because she turns out a wide variety of content, and it's all brilliant.
@@johnbriggs3916 I think she's doing just fine. She hasn't given up releasing music, but it really is worth checking out those video sketches, many of which have gone viral. Nobody is doing anything like them. We can wait a year or two for her creativity to turn back towards music, and as for wealth and fame - she has a ton of followers, built a music career from scratch, and toook full advantage of what a modern artist can do on their own streaming channel, with no label support to speak of. Even this update has nearly 3K views!
She's really gone quiet on the music front. There was talk of recording a new album, but not even any information on Patreon. Her audience has increased by her spoken word shorts, but the music seems to be on pause. They had a Halloween stream tradition for 3 or 4 years, but even that wasn't done this year.
We need to give them more time. I can also imagine they are a little bit down because they feel a kind of pressure to give us again brilliant music, but you cannot really plan brilliance.
@ReinerEngelkes Yes, you can. Take "Hallows Eve". This is an "occasional" piece, effectively written to order. It has no right being as brilliant as it is.
Rachelle, Toni, Josh, Carson, Allison, Mary, and associates who routinely play and sing together are a bunch of young (well, youngish now) RUclips songsters that are well worth watching.
I had the pleasure of seeing the first four of your list together on stage in November 2022. A very enjoyable evening. When Mary announced her tour plans I had hoped she would come over to Germany. Sadly that did not happen and I couldn't make it to any of the UK gigs.
I enjoy her shorts that she does, but I really miss the music. She and Toni do not do the Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid. I so wish they would go back to the covers and original songs. I believe that is her strongest talent. She and Toni are both amazing.
This is exceptionally bland and simple-minded puffery. No examination of the disastrous re-naming/re-branding. I am eager for the next album (one must be due soon?) but don't have the faintest idea under what name it will be! Other bands keep going under old names despite a complete change of personnel. It seems that "Elle" (a name which came as a complete surprise) wishes to carry on as before, but under a different name (whatever that is!) I'm not a fan of slavish adherence to convention, but there are good reasons why this sort of idiocy isn't a good idea.
Great points! We have been reading all of the comments and notice this as a common theme. We might make a separate video on this very topic, if anything because Elle/RDC is far from being the only musician on RUclips to fall into this "quagmire", of sorts.
