    This was an amazing upset by the US. The Canadian team was loaded with future NBA Hall of Famers and they were shocked by these young, nameless college kids.
    This was the basketball version of Miracle on Ice.

    One thing about Jordan, was his incredible physique. Even at a young age and even though he was only 195 pds, he was incredibly muscular. He had like 280 pds of muscle fiber in that 195. That's why alot of players talk about his uncanny strength at the guard, like he was a power forward.

    I can't believe they used to say that Jordan couldn't shoot well in his early career. He improved over time in that regard, but he obviously had that silky touch from day one of his NBA career.

    For all the kids out there who are watching this video there onxe was a player named Alvan Robertson who used to drive Michael Jordan CRAZY due to his defense.
    6-2, great athlete and all but what separated Robertson was how he took shit from NOBODY. Every possession was a back alley fist fight when he guarded you. He had incredibly quick hands where even Isiah Thomas in his prime wouldnt put the ball on the floor near him. He also had like this Spidey-Sense, like he could see 2 seconds ahead in time and know exactly where a pass was going to go and would jump the lane for a steal.
    He was also a heady offensive player who could score, rebound and pass with the best at his position.
    He was the 2nd player to wver have a Quintuple-Double. The other 3 players who accomplished tbis were all Centers.
    Robertson still holds the NBA record for steals in a season and is the ONLY NBA player to ever record 300 in a season. He also holds the NBA record for steals per game for a career.
    Robertson was the guard Bobby Knight started next to Jordan in the 84 US Olympic team.
    He was....magnificent and if you love basketball you should know him by name.

    Hard to believe MJ is one of those rare specimens who was able to win just about anything: College, International and Professional.
    He was part of the US squad which won Gold at the Panamerican Games in Caracas in 1983.
    I saw his talent at courtside and was marveled of what he could do, even then.

    • @nonplayerzealot4
      @nonplayerzealot4 4 года назад +1

      Carter had the US skip the 80 games in Moscow because the USSR invaded Afghanistan and then they became our enemies years later and we invaded them, haha. Funded their asses and gave em weapons from 79-89, some of them later used against the US years later. US supposedly didn't give them enough Stinger missiles and shooting systems than they needed to take out Russian assault choppers. Had they given them more than they needed, they would've been saved around in holes and caves until 2001.

    I'm as American as they come but I really got bored with the '84 games as they went on. Without the eastern bloc and the third world not yet developed, it was just a "USA! USA! USA!" lovefest. I knew some of the men from the USA Men's Volleyball team and, while they loved winning the gold, they really wanted to play the Soviets. Plus it was the Olympics that first went corporate (Understandable with the debt Montreal was left with). But the games lost some of their dignity.

    • @ytgc-royalewarex5190

      Soviets Union had to boycott this Olympic since it was hosted in US. Just like what US did in 1980 Olympics which was hosted in Soviet as well and you will see US didn't participated in there due to their boycott. However, there was Yugoslavia for being the toughest basketball opponents to USA back then for sure
