It's unfortunate this came out a few days after this video's release, but oh well. Use this as well as SCRLog to have the best crash logging available.
Also apparently people can't load their saves when they use Community Map Fixes. You should start new game once you've installed all the mods you want, because you can run into other issues from not doing so (during playthroughs).
After doing everything in your video, my game crashes halfway through loading, maybe I missed someone addressing it but do you have any clue on how to fix it from doing that?

wonderful video, guided me perfectly through the process as a total beginner, wonderful job.
I've started modding GTA SA back in 2009 maybe, It was more tedious since there wasn't any good mod selectors back then, but I now see it's far more easier, I will relive my good ol' days with modding GTA SA. the worst thing back then it was I had to manually edit the .img files myself
Back when I didnt know modloader existed i manually edited img files... can confirm, pain in the ass!

Nice video, goes in depth in all essentials.
I do the same, keeping the games on a different drive on a games folder is very helpful since keeping something on the programs files drive it will always ask for admin perms or pass and modding can be slower so keeping games on a different drive is very helpful

It is quite late to comment this, but I thought that it might be useful to other people who followed this guide.
To anybody downloading the Community Map Fixes, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!! That causes all the crashing that everybody is experiencing. You could do all the steps right, but the thing is that this map fix mod crashes your game. Just skip it and continue doing everything else like normally. Otherwise, your game will either crash or freeze.
Edit: You have to use the mod without project 2dfx as that's what's crashing the game. Community map fixes causes problems when project 2dfx is installed, so remove project2dfx to use the modpack.

As someone with a lot of exp modding GTA San Andreas. This is extremely helpful for beginners. Although funny enough, it’s installed on program files (x86) and never had a issue, and never had anti-virus act out with mods. But still good to know nonetheless.

This video really explained every single shit and it's very effective. I had another modded GTA SA before but I couldn't do much like adding cars etc. I tried modding GTA: Sa like this way like multiple times but it crashes. That was until I decided to watch all the video and BAM! everything worked fine. Thanks a lot. But I have installed a mod (first person mod) and I have added a car (didn't replace but added) the problem is that everytime I am in an added car and I get into first person everything crashes.

Thanks a lot man because of you i can now install mods which I coulnd't install and my gta sa is now way better I just installed GTA V graphics mod and a Forza Horizon 3 Speedometer its sick and also engine on/off mod the gameplay is smooth even after mods (my pc-i3 6th gen 4gb Ram 500gb HDD 2gb integrated graphics) it just took me an hour to completely learn how to add mods

So..., I Mod myself, and I could really use some Help....!!! I'm in the process of reworking GTA SA Big Gangster Mod, which is a Mod originally by Jeansowaty that adds a ton of additional gangs to the game. So far I got 27 or 28 gangs in addition to the original 8. LS is done, LV mostly done, and still working on LV, SF and the Desert.
The Gameplay it's self is "hell on wheels", most of the skins are high quality HD models from different artists... "Yeah.., they're Artists", that I made teams of, and it's just not possible to get boared with the game anymore..... AT ALL... This was made for Marathon Gaming!!!
For example, I got the West Side Ballas splitting from the Ballas Gang, and are in conflict with East Side Ballas, Front Yard, and Rollin Heights Ballas, with support from the Vagos, all separately. The San Andreas Bikers being attacked by the "Evil" Lost MC, Dirty Fam Cop.. gonna add more dirty and clean cops, Temple in conflict with The Lost MC, The LV Mafia trying to move in on The Red Dragon Casino, speaking of Red Dragon.., The Red Dragon Tong LS in conflict with LS Rifas on one side, and Grape Ballas on the other, me constanly being followed by LS Vice by use of the Undercover Patrol 2.0 Mod. And with the addition of Global wars, Ex Gang Wars, and the Driveby Mod, you get drivebys, and gangs taking over the turfs of other gangs, which you are sometimes called upon to participate in. At times gangs that you're cool with will turn on you and try to expand their turfs. The Triads territory has been divided by The Mountain Clouds, The White Lotus Tong, The Black Dragon Clan, and The Red Dragon Tong. And to that, I've added Take Money and Run Mod. I plan to add the Yakuza, a branch of the Mafia, the Vagos, and more.

Did all like in the video: Get the Error: "Hit limit COL Files". Despite having the Limiter installed, that in its .ini says "COL Files: Unlimeted"
After playing GTA SA on my ps2 for months I finally broke. Spent 7 on G2A and I'm taking the dive into modding this broken pc port. Hopefully I didn't just spend 7 on a massive chore lmao. If this guide wasn't here I'd be lost thanks a bunch... wish me luck
I can't recommend that you follow this guide, the downgrader linked doesn't result in the necessary 13.7mb executable, instead it is a smaller one that doesn't work and will not recognize any mods, I needed to watch a different, more updated guide for it which provided a file that was double in size.
The part about the essentials is way too rushed and it was a headache to setup, I ended up needing to follow a different, better guide.
Finally I couldn't get the community fixes mod to work, I recommend you skip that part at least as it is outdated and if you follow the setup guide the mod creators give step by step, installing even the optionals, you may still end up like me, needing to delete it for the game to load (gets stuck in loading screen)
tried a good 2 hours, just trying to get the game to run at 60 fps without CJ dying to climbing over a 2ft wall. This shit helped immensely, thank you

When i try to use some skin mods, the game crashes with the Community Map Fix.
The logs give a couple of reasons why the crash occurs like the name could be too long, the model doesn't exist and so on but gives no solution.
But it only crashes with the Community Map Fix. Without it works just fine.
Any solution to this if possible???

Your guide has been super helpful, great content! Im currently having an issue where my saves will not load but the game will load up a new game just fine, wondered if you knew whats causing this?
As in itll crash or it doesnt show saves? Dont understand exactly...
If you come from the latest version, try to downgrade your saves from gtasnp.com.
Otherwise the saves may be corrupted or something? Or perhaps you have a mod which edits main.scm, in that case u have to use a new save
If the saves just aren't showing, i had that a few days ago. They're there but the names are blank for some reason, i just got a new save and it was all g

@catsmackroo I figured it out, made the classic mistake of installing to many mods in one go (which you warned about in your video🙈😂) it turned out the project props mod was causing this issue

I'm actually new to modding in gta san andreas yet I think I regreted that I didn't watch this tutorial before downloading a lot of mods and messing some things that I wanted to try, the mod essentials that I only got are from GTA San Andreas Downgrader.... I selected the ASI Loader, SilentPatch, ModLoader, Remastered GUI, Project20FX, 13AG+Wesser Widescreen Fixes, GInput and San Andreas Multiplayer. I was thinking if I can put the mixmods modloader when i already have a modloader folder from my directory file that come from GTA SA Downgrader because most of the mods I picked and saw from videos that I really wanna test are from mixmods which the text readme tutorial says im just gonna drag the specific file to the GTA San Andreas Downgrader modloader which I did but it crashed and I was really confused at all.... The mods i wanted to try on the game were interactive peds, different vary peds and some modded details like NPC's getting drunk or watching the newspaper yet I don't even know how to start after finding this video and now I understand why some of my mixmods i try just crashes because its a different modloader folder... If you can drop a comment or help me, I would appreciate it.

In downgrading, did you start the application as an administrator? If you start it not as an administrator, it takes a few minutes and deletes all files like what happens in the video, unless you cut the part where it takes a few minutes? but if you start it as an admin, it takes a few seconds and does not delete files

I had already modded my gta sa, and I wanted to add another mod for the tag locations. It’s been awhile since I have modded, and I screwed it up. My game wouldn’t load. Had to uninstall it, and when I installed it again it would load but then close and I remembered it did that because it can’t play on modern pc’s so here I am ready to learn again 👍

Hi, just to inform you, the GTA SA dowgrader download link is not working, the mega website does not load, but it does load for the v2 to v1 version and the other GTA games.
I do have a backup for the file though, so I didn't need to download a new one

I definitely wanna try modding my GTA SA now! Does modding need more space on the hard drive? I don't know anything about it, I just know that my laptop is a cheap pos with not near enough oomph to run the definitive editions...not even the most basic of the three, GTA III so I'm hoping mods will make my GTA SA experience better! I've completed all the missions, quite a few of the side missions, with no cheats on my iPhone and that was a feat for me for sure. I'm not thrilled with vice city on my phone at all because the physics of driving is completely off, but I'm going to try to transition back to laptop playing here and there.
I'd say so yeah. I mean it depends on what mods you want, but you will also be creating backups.
GTA SA size is around 4.5GB. So after you create a backup, that's already 9GB used without any mods.
Whether or not your computer is a piece of 💩... you should get an external harddrive or something to get more space, if it's an issue

I redownload San Andreas and use your videos for the links and they all work great but I feel like there is one big problem and I didn’t have it the last two times I played this game but this time I spent hours trying to figure out why I wasn’t getting a smooth 60fps with all the mods downloaded and using RZL trainer to cap FPS at 60 was still making it not feel smooth so I thought maybe I needed to find another mod now to fix the fps which led me to Framerate Vigilante but when I noticed it was in the essentials mod pack I figured it wasn’t that. I read that SilentPatch caps the game at 30 so I was just gonna do that but when I turned on frame limiter it wouldn’t go to 30, RZL frame cap was off so I was wondering if it was Framerate Vigilante so I deleted it, it caps at 30fps and now when I use 60fps with RZL it’s super smooth. Just throwing that out there for anyone that may be having performance issues. Everything else works great though

Asking because I messed up even the ROSA Project and V Graphic's installation (cutscenes look bright blue and seems like not the entire world is retextured like the showcase videos have it seem), so if this series is going to take a month or so, I'll just follow your IV guide and playthrough that one instead
Whatever I feature in the rest of this series shouldnt affect this at all, just mess with your priorities & ENB settings (use SHIFT+ENTER in-game for real time editor)
As for the next episode (vehicle/ped/weapon addons) it could come out in 2 days, or it could take another week. It just depends on what I focus on and I'm working like 50 different videos rn, and it's not at the top of my priority list either

Edit: i found the problem due to another comment it turns out that the Community fixes mod if anyone knows why this crashes my game that would be helpful but im just happy that my gta is now playable :)
its a good thing that pirating isnt an enforced law because i wasnt able tot get the OG trilogy pre definitive edition since they were taken down from steam when the definitive edition trailer dropped
