I just got an ltek pad today, and yeah this seems like a necessity. Thank God this is such an easy mod and this is a very easy to follow along video. Thanks for this.
Does penny modding the inner sides of the pad enough? Like when you mod the down arrow, you put two pennies on top, but not on the left and right side (not putting on the bottom is understandable though). How sensitive has it become? Would it be too much for you to recommend it to someone who plays DDR and ITG technical but not socks/footslide ITG streams?
I also have this question. Gonna look into penny modding my pad when I get it but is it safe to tape pennies around the whole perimeter? Or will this make it too sensitive and cause misfires?
I've seen some comments in regards to the polling rate. Has it caused any issues for you or is the then only thing you've done is penny mod it? I ordered one just recently :D
I replaced the USB board with an Arduino. The default board that comes with the pad only polls at 125hz, meaning it only checks for input every 8ms, which is kinda bad for rhythm games. It plays just fine, but you will have noticeable issues with timing if you try to play on FA+ mode. Replacing the board with an arduino just makes your timing much more accurate/reliable. It's not necessary, but it helps.
I’ve recently bought an ltek pro (new model, I guess?), and the plates are superglued together, rather than Velcro. Do you have any recommendations? I’m afraid to break the superglue seal.
Hi. It's possible use tinfoil (aluminium) than penny? Cause here in Italy i have a 5 cent. of € coin that it's a litllebit higher than penny, and i have a lot of ghost steps.
Hi mate, I tried this got my new pad today, I did it this way using 5c coin (Australian) and it make it too sensitive and the buttons were going off crazy. Any reason that would happen? Also thanks for video. Cheers.
@@michaelbilsborrow1896 I recommend doing the mod with the testing window open on stepmania and then adjusting the screws until it is only registering an input when you press on the arrow
You're supposed to scrape off the glue, but the sensor is held down by velcrow anyway so it will not damage it. I think the reason they glue it is to prevent it from getting loose during shipping. Alternatively you can stick some cardboard in there, but penny mod is supposedly the best route.
Giving this video a like purely for the dramatic thumbs up at 1:15.

awesome video!! just ordered my l tek pad today and i think this is going to be great for it. thanks so much👍
Have you tried placing sheets of paper between the sensor top and the acryl arrow panel? Paper modding
this video is very well done

Very helpful thanks!!

@@JoeWhittRhythmGaming Where can you get the Arduino board?
@@JoeWhittRhythmGaming same. Where do you get this board?

I made a tutorial for doing something like this without removing the glue.

Extremely helpful video. I’ve heard that penny modding kind of deteriorates the sensors over time, is this true?
Not that I'm aware of. I've had my L-TEK penny modded ever since I got it (11 months ago) and it still works flawlessly.
Just wondering if the duct tape is a must. Can I substitute with sticky tape or some other equivalent?
I found an alternative method, copper tape.
is this the same process for the pro version?

What does Penny modding do for the pad? Out of curiosity
It makes it more sensitive so it be more accurate 🙂
@@caironhorn2656 awesome. Thank you
Something that will never happen because where I'm from doesn't use coins for currency at all. D:

You can try using a thinner coin, or just buying small sheets of copper if the coins are too thick.
5c coin is the thinnest coin we have it’s also not as thick as a penny.

When I take off the arrows on my l-tek ex pro 2 it’s all glued under there. What do I do now?? I don’t want to break it
