    Fantastic, helpful video. Thanks! And I just want to say, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your ability and willingness to produce these videos in English. Your English is excellent. I wish I had grown up learning other languages as many people around the world did. As we say in Texas, USA, "Appreciate'ya."
    And yes....SUBBED!

    I like the way you explain each video, very very clear; I have never owned any of the three pedals, excellent the Ktr but I find that the TS is the most musical of the three.
    I've always had the impression that overdrive pedals often give their best set with the level knob over noon.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you Luca, really appreciated!!! You know, we all have different taste, but for sure with the level knob over noon you push more the pre-amp valves...and that was (and still is) one of the main purposes of these pedals...
      Thank you for your message!

    The emperor has no clothes. The differences are practically negligible. Yes, the Klon has a transparent "creamy" texture, the BD-2 has a distinctive scoop somewhere in the tone stack that makes the strings go "clank", and the TS808 has a distinct emphasis on midrange grit. But nobody in the audience at the gig would ever know the difference. Pick one. Buy the Behringer TO800 actually, because it's literally an exact TS808 circuit in a different box, but it only costs $20. Marketing is powerful stuff people. The marketers have hoodwinked all of you into believing a Klon is worth $5,000. You're overpaying by exactly $4,980.

    • @ransombaggins9301
      @ransombaggins9301 4 года назад +3

      Good points. Of course, my ear is far less refined than that of many guitarists, but still. 😃 To be fair, I wouldn't say it's "marketing" per se that creates that crazy Klon price, so much as market hype. That is, Bill Finnegan isn't asking those prices, the market is. And yes, the market can get crazy. There is another factor to take into account though, and that's collectability. Collectors are a legit group and rarity goes a long way when it comes to the price of collector's items. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I have absolutely no ill will toward anyone paying whatever they want, but as for me personally, I'm going to stick with the less expensive "klones." 😃

      You are half right, sir. Behringer pedals are great except for their poor bypass circuit. If you only have a couple of then, that's ok, but once you start to stack then into your pedalboard, tone becomes thinner and thinner. I would rather buy Chinese true bypass clones btw.

    • @haydenb9074
      @haydenb9074 4 года назад +3

      I don't think I'd ever buy a behringer with those plastic pedal housings because I don't think it'll be that durable

      I will spend money for something that Sounds incredible, and blows-me-away. I think the Klon is the Most Over-Rated pedal I have ever heard. Nothing about it, ever made me go "Wow" . . . I need that !!! I honestly prefer the T.S. ( lower noise floor ) too. I do not like the on/off switch on the T.S. though.

    • @silviolutti1522
      @silviolutti1522 3 года назад +1

      The boss blues driver is by no means "scooped", especially the waza craft version, but the other two pedals have a boost on the mid frequencies at the expense of the low and high frequencies and the tubescreamer is an example in this. I honestly don't understand how tubescreamer and derivatives (klon is a derivative of tubescreamer) have all this success. I hate that hump in the mids and I can't stand my guitar sound being penalized like that.

    Awesome video! Just started stacking overdrives recently. Would you stack a Tube Screamer Mini TSMINI before a Boss Blues Driver BD-2? My signal chain: Empress Buffer+ Boost -> TS MINI -> BD-2. Will they work well with the Empress Buffer+ Boost?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  4 года назад +2

      Hi, I typically use overdrives with amps on the edge of the break up and I don't feel the need to add more gain the only addition that sometimes I do is a booster, like a Xotic RC Booster. But you can for sure stack overdrive pedals, even if I would rather go with a more gain pedal, like a distortion pedal, instead of stacking two overdrives. As regards buffer + boost, yes they work. Actually when I use an always on booster I don't feel the need to use also a buffer.
      Thank you for your question!

    It also depends on what amplifier you use. If you use a fender, maybe the result could be different. Anyway, in my opinion, the boss blues driver is the most authentic sounding pedal. I can't define the centaur clone, but I feel it cuts the low frequencies anyway. The ibanez 808 then, in my opinion is really horrible used on a clan sound.

    TS808 the clear winner. I was surprised by the noise of the blues driver and the over coloring/lack of transparency of the KTR.

      I enjoy my cheap Caline pegasus klon clone well enough but after playing with a bunch of different Klon type pedals that they are all noisy if you have any of the controls cranked up. It seems less of a problem if you stay below 2:30. It's not really acceptable either way. Of the klon type pedals my broke ass could afford the Caline had the least noise and was actually better than most of the more expensive ones except the Wampler, maybe I got lucky.

    People forget that "Tone" is the low-pass filter knob on the guitar - its written right on the thing (!)
    It never ceases to amuse me :D
    Even the most famous of the famous will say "tone" when they (technically) mean "timbre" or better yet, "VOICE".
    "My Tone" is a fetish for a delusional mirage. Your style and identity is in all of your decisions from what you eat to how you love; no more no less.
