    Its so nice to see your reviews because you don't have any bias, or preconceived views in your review. Always well balanced.
    I have a 500x Sport 1.3 Auto and its really excellent. Far better than the press give it, but they certainly have preconceived views
    One thing you did miss in the review is that on the Sport they have FSD dampers which mean it handles pretty well for an SUV and even with 19" wheels it is not crashy over the bumps.
    You cancelled that by saying about the cooled upper glovebox, I had no idea!
    Yes its not the biggest boot, but passenger space and access is really good, my dad is 6 feet tall and sits happily in the back.
    It does what we want & its down to personal preference.

    We have the 500X in a 1.4-litre turbo petrol here in South Africa, and the Sport is available with the soft top here as well. I recently had it on test & I loved it! It's got so much personality that you can't help but admire 🥰

    I've always though an Abarth 500X would have been a great option. It could have beaten the Puma ST and Kona N to the punch.

    • @DaveDVideoMaker

      I agree. If the Abarth 500X was made, it would be the closest rival to the Ford Puma ST. In my opinion, the Puma ST and Kona N are quite different.
      Oh wait, I found an Abarth SUV called the Pulse, but that’s sold in Brazil only.

    Thanks for your ballanced review. The 500x does get trashed quite a bit in reviews. I tested out a Jeep Renegade ( same vehicle underneath ) just to see if the 9 speed automatic ( only transmission available in Canada ) was going to be as glitchy as many reviews indicated. If i were a younger or more aggressive driver, i may have had a problem. But I'm not, the transmission shifted fine for regular driving, more hesitant for spirited driving, the ride smooth and composed. Iwent ahead and bought a 2023 500x in the same Italia blueas your test unit. The only engine here is the direct injected turbocharged 1.3L 177hp and i believe 212 ft/b torque. If you need to get up and get moving, it certainly does ( after a bit of turbo lag and the aforementioned transmission sorting itself out) . Overall i am quiet pleased, I would have preferred a manual transmission but am making do with occasionally putting the automatic in manual mode. I also have stopped stepping on the non existent clutch pedal.

    We’ve just changed from our 2016 500X diesel to this model and it’s so much better! Mainly because of the engine and the obvious dated issues. But I do believe that the top box is no longer cooled. It was only older models that had that option with the adjustable switch inside the glove box.

    • @bigteddy66
      @bigteddy66 7 месяцев назад +1

      The 2l diesel is by far the best engine in the range. I have a 16 plate and was thinking about changing but not a diesel to be found so, I'm just going to keep it as I don't know what else I'd rather have.and it's been garage visit completely free with not one single issue.

    I have a Fiat 500x and a VW Tiguan. I personally prefer the Fiat over the VW. I travel over 1000 trouble free miles a month in the 500x 1.6 diesel. The VW has had a new clutch but still has stalling issues going from first to second gear. In my opinion the 500x drives good, has proven to be reliable and still looks relevant.

  • @DaveDVideoMaker

    The option of 4WD in my opinion is the big benefit of the Fiat 500X over most B-segment crossovers, which don’t have that option. I think more manufacturers should add AWD options to their B-crossover SUVs, which, for sure, is gonna cost more and gonna get a little bit worse gas mileage, but come on.
    What do you think niece Tish?

    The wife has the 500x 1.3 automatic sport and it's an absolute rocket it leaves my 2019 Ford focus st for dust although the seats in the fiat are a bit harsh and like you say the infotainment system is not the easiest to use and the satnav is rubbish! we've had it for about 18 months and it's a very good capable car and the wife loves it!

    This 500x looks to be of better quality then the older models. Less plastic and better materials. Other cars like the Ford Puma would be the more sensable choice, but the 500 x is the more fun and quirky choice. It would be nice if FIAT was a more popular brand here in Australia. The closest dealerships to me (an hour & a half away) closed last year. Hopefully when the 500e comes out here, Fiat might make a bit of a comeback.

    I wish Fiat would make the Coupe again, that and the barchetta were good looking cars, the 500 is a great car but if I wanted to go off roading I’d buy a 4x4, it seems as if they want to get every type of car body style out of that 500 brand, the BMW mini is doing similar with its model line up, £25,000 for a 500 is a bit pricey.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 Год назад

      The company makes the Jeep brand for real off-roading. The Renegade Trailhawk if you want a small one. The 500 “brand” only has two models in it.

    Can't "shake it up" too much Tish, its a bit like the Mini, it will always have to pay some homage to its original! Its not my kind of car but for a young urban family, or a 2nd car not used for long distance, its quite attractive. I think the 1.5 mild hybrid would be the one to have.

      @@stuartheydon6323 Wow, in pounds as well. As I said, it's not my cup of tea at all, at any price to be honest. As a comparison with the UK, the "new" model hasn't made it here to Australia yet and even the older model wasn't popular. A 2018 1.4 with 10k miles can be had for 9k pounds.

  • @afcgeo882
    @afcgeo882 Год назад

    Tish… is a review of the new 3+1 500e in Rose Gold coming?
    The “500” on the dash was an intentional move. It was to tie all 500 models (there were 3 of them) to the original Fiat Cinquecento (500) that was so iconic, and to each other. Otherwise, the 500x has nothing in common with the 500 as it’s the same car as the Jeep Renegade. Speaking of… would you rather own Renegade or a 500x?

  • @lawrenceholden5716
    @lawrenceholden5716 Год назад

    Nice cars, had one as a courtesy car for a day years ago from the Fiat dealership and really liked it once I got used to it. It is a bit of a shock that they seem to have almost doubled in price since then and for this money a low mileage Mercedes or Jaguar, which has had the depreciation hit from new, seems a better bet to me, factoring in the punitive tax for cars over £40k, but that only applies for a few years from new.

    The only real ways to make lots of power out of a small engine is to turbo boost, electrify it or run it at high revolutions.This is why this car is noisy. It’s heavy, and has a tiny engine, so it needs a combination of those methods. You can’t have it both ways.
