What a great song. I remember the first time I heard this song. I thought how quirky it was too but I loved it. Now I just fell in love with the live version at the Rainbow 1974. That was the first time I heard ROGER doing his thing. I also loved seeing it live at the Rainbow and I always said listen to the beautiful blond girl on drums what an amazing voice. I know what attracted me to QUEEN is that they experimented with their sound. Nobody else was doing that. Thank you DARC for the video looking forward to seeing the live version. Hey Darc!! That has to be my favorite 'roger' song...and you better show Rainbow, i adore the way he just nonchalantly leans over and belts out his bit... truly amazing -- every time i see it!!
Like i said before, you be you... we love you just the way you are -- the personality, the stories about family, the reminiscing about concerts -- all the 'good stuff' might make a video a little long, but also makes it very interesting to tune into. And because you are introducing a whole new generation to Freddie's art...i find that quite noble!! That's why I like David at JackThatBack, i love his quirky personality, just wish he'd come back more often (was really missing you there for awhile too, thought maybe you got bit by the bug!)
Can't imagine why anyone would unsub... i have heard some people claim utube unsubs them... don't know, hasn't happened to me. I have noticed i don't always get notifications though...

Roger was a choirboy in his youth- I think that’s when he learned to control those ultra high pitched notes!
Love the technical wizardry and find this song fascinating. Congrats on 5K subs. As to the stats, am not terribly surprised. Think most people come to RUclips reaction channels to hear the music and a few comments and maybe not the detail of analysis you provide (which I love by the way). I have listened to a lot of younger people who are pretty amazed at how much they like it. That’s kind of fun to watch. Always wonder if it’s an act though. You can’t compete with that. Never thought of the fact that you would loose subs from the Queen challenge. Sorry to hear that. Maybe it’s not worth your effort. Unfortunately I guess it only appeals to us diehard fans.🥺
I have always found that quite interesting. How some just come for the music. In which case I wonder why not just listen to the video of the actual song. The Queen Song Challenge is going nowhere. They are fun and if they cost me subs... so be it. Appreciation as always HJ.

DARC I love your channel just the way it is don't change it. I love to watch other QUEEN reactors just like you do not that I haven't seen it it's because the new younger generation is starting to recognize how great QUEEN is as a band. As a female viewer for me I tune in because of FREDDIE. To me he is the most GORGEOUS, SEXIEST MAN EVER. It's his charisma that just draws you to him and he is beautiful to watch and listen to. I told my husband after he asked me to marry him I told him that he shares my heart with FREDDIE and QUEEN. I made him a QUEEN fan too. As of today we have been married for 37 years. We have one daughter and she is 25 and a QUEEN fan too. So are my neighbors when I blast QUEEN on the stereo. So I wouldn't change your channel because us QUEEN fans will tune in no matter what. Forgot to mention the opening of this reminds me of The Kiss from Flash Gordon.
I think Freddie would of had to sing it faster so when they slowed it down to get the lower tone it still matched the tempo of the music.
For your channel I listen for the knowledge. I listen to other peoples channels because they don't know what they are getting into. I think the young people get more views because they attract more young people and old people like us like to see young people appreciate their music.

I think you are correct in this assessment. He sang the song at a faster pace then slowed it down to the beat of the song. And I won't change. I might just shorten the talk at the beginning and move it to the after song portion. 😎

You have to take into the account the attention span of the younger...They have none.

Holy Cow Darc… don’t know where to begin 😆 First of all I love you bc you don’t look shocked and sing or talk ( loudly ) over songs.
As a crazed music lover of a certain age ( not as old as some😂 but not a millennial ) I usually subscribe to people and give them a chance …… I can tell by the second time I like them or there’s no hope. Can’t change the millennials en masse bc they grew up in an alien world and like we “ adults” are products of their own history. I don’t enjoy most of the females ( there are three I like ) bc I find in general they’re frustrated actresses who are hoping they are coming off “ cute” ( I hate saying this bc being a “ cute” female myself I can sniff out a poseur a mile a way ) so I’m left with the guys ( who bring a lot of pseudo- macho rubbish themselves…) Kiss of death are those who have NEVER heard Bohemian Rhapsody or talk endlessly about the amount of drinks on Freddie’s piano or stop the tape just before The Sublime Moment!! Yell loudly “ Sing it Freddie “. I try to relax and not be so judgmental but as a musician and an ‘ old’ RocknRoller I just can’t do it.
So where does that leave you???🤔 You are the cream of the crop! Right up there in that rarefied air of an articulate intelligent human being.

Diane this exactly how I feel about Dark, I couldn't have put it better myself. And yes I watch a lot of reactors and some of them seem a little suspicious to me( just in it for the views ) And as a 65 year old woman who has loved Queen from their beginnings I just love Dark talking about them with us Queenies.

Wow! Never heard the album version. They may have been going for ethereal, but they landed on demonic!! 😂 Maybe you should try a splash screen with the word 'Wow' and a shocked face?! And most younger people seem to have a short attention span, so maybe save most of the explanation till the end? I love how you work things, by the way, but I'm a Boomer too!! 😊
Demonic is actually a pretty good descriptive. I might try the shorter intro. I should probably try to keep the video's under 10 minutes. But I can't help myself!!! 😃
I'm one of those that didn't like this spooky fiddling about with Freddie's voice. It sounds like they slowed his voice down. Roger's screams at the start are certainly alarming - lol. His falsetto later is gorgeous, though. I think you should do Rainbow, it's the better version imo. Are you a boomer? I thought you were Gen X. I went to school with the author that invented the term Generation X and he is born in 1961. I love your Queen reactions. I always learn something and you aren't annoying like those that stop the video in the middle of Brian's guitar solo or only talk about Freddie or think Freddie's name is Queen and the other 3 are his band. Sometimes a bit of knowledge goes a long way! Keep up the good work!
The transition from Boomer to Gen X is 1965 from my understanding. Which is my birth year. So I am a bit of both. Although I guess Gen X started in '65 so perhaps I am technically Gen X. I don't plan on any changes to the way I react to Queen. Might make some adjustments when it comes to my other stuff but the Queen content will remain the same.
@@Sneak65 The term was coined by Douglas Coupland in an article he wrote for Vancouver magazine first and then his first novel Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture. He wrote about the generation after the Jane Fonda/Vietnam War/hippie culture generation and lamented about twenty somethings having to get McJobs instead of long lasting pensionable jobs like boomers. He was asked to mass market the term and refused but it got hijacked anyway. In an interview he said he got the term from Billy Idols group. He meant it for those born 1960 and after like himself. I find the twenty somethings today are going through an even worse time than we did but I digress.
@@yvrkid7070 This is interesting and the first I have ever heard this. I will link a couple articles that seem to back my timeline. But I don't claim to be an expert. Did he coin the term or did he define which ages were included. We might be discussing different things. I am simply stating the years that are universally accepted for the generations. Will definitely dig into Douglas Coupland as I do not know who he is. My mind is open to being changed.

@@yvrkid7070 I see Douglas Coupland shows up in one of the articles I linked for you. Seems to me he simply coined the term and made no definition as to whom fits into the Gen-x category. I take no issue with that. I do stick with my assessment of the Boomer generation ending in '64 and the Gen X beginning in '65.
@@Sneak65 He coined the term in his book. He is born in 1961 and meant it to be for the generation after the 1945 to late fifties generation. A generation that came into a job market during a recession in the early 80s. He is famous for his art structures around the city as well as the Terry Fox Memorial at BC Place.
Your videos are maybe longer than a lot of reactions - maybe that’s why you get fewer views. I’m not complaining btw - I like the longer ones!

re: subscribing - I admit it. I am a YT "fair weather friend'. If a reactor doesn't play groups, or bands, or songs, or genres that I like for a long time, I will unsubscribe. That said, I don't join up with a lot of couples reactors either because, while I enjoy watching a first reaction, I think some are over played and over acted. Often they will start out with Queen to draw a crowd of fans, then drop Queen. I've heard similar comments from other reactors however. That they've watched their numbers drop but don't know why.
I suspect there is some reaction burn out. Most reactors just do the same 5~10 songs and then rinse and repeat. I will do my best to keep you subbed! :P
