As a huge Danzig and Misfits fan, this video made me happy. It isn't a replica or a perfect redo of the song, it's more of a tribute and she's putting her own style to it. And frankly it's beautiful, and haunting.
No matter how many years passed, I always come back to this masterpiece! Brings back memories:D
Danzig's has a very nice rock and metal sound to it. This has a light sound but more chilling expression of the lyrics. They're both good in separate ways.

The original wasn't meant to be "angry". It was volatile, aggressive, testosterone induced shit stomping.
While I appreciate Lissie,and her music,this comes nowhere close to capturing the original "feel"by Danzig.

I agree, I think this song should've been composed differently. I think it should have picked up a little more steam during the Chorus (As it does later in the song before it gets to the loud "Rock" part.)

It takes a great deal to look into songs like these.
I see this as a sort of complicated family relation.
The main character is young enough to have siblings that are between 12 and 15, but is old enough to be an adult. The character is rebelling against their father in an act of defiance over a perceived wrong or equivalent, attempting to keep him away from most likely hurting their mother and siblings. The character is prepared to do a dark and heinous act to protect the one they love, even going as far as to fight to the death. The tempo increase throughout the song supports this.
But that's what I think, the truth is always in the eye of the beholder.
Neat idea, but wrong. If you take the lyrics literally, the perspective character is taking the daughter of overprotective parents out, and is telling them (the parents,) that he's dangerous and won't be reformed. "Gonna take your daughter out tonight, gonna show her my world," "Not about to see your light," etc. The Danzig original version is much more aggressive.
The song was originally written by Danzig as a response to Tipper and Al Gore wanting to censor music.
Lissie sings this song with a lot more passion than Danzig does in my opinion. I love the part where the tempo picks up, at around 2:37. That's when it gets on! Love it.
Always have to come back to this gem!

I clicked on video, ad popped up, had my finger on the skip, was waiting for the seconds to countdown, was listen in to the song while the seconds were ending, liked the song, didnt skip ad, watch the who 2min of the ad/trailer, was worth the wait, great song, left my original video, clicked in search while listening to the song, tried to listen to the lyrics so I can put them in the search bar to find the song, entered "can you keep them in the closet for a while" and now I'm here writing my experience with this song!! :)
Nearly same thing happened for me except I actually saw someone in the comments of the ad's video actually mention whom made this cover, so I searched from that point and easily found it. lol

I really love this. Danzig has been my favorite singer since I was a kid. I always enjoy listening to covers and spoofs of this song. Yours is my favorite so far. I got chills when you picked it up and started belting after the second verse. And I was just listening to it from my phone speakers. You've really got something there

A cover of a timeless song like Mother by Danzig is a great idea for the new generations but the harde part is not competeing with the band that made it great. Having a female lead singer does this very well and gives it at twist that makes it its own for the newer generations. Thanks for doing this and great job doing it!

egioch It's a videogame, you play one of 5 characters. Either 4 of the hunters or the "hunted" in other words the monster. The monster starts of weak but grows stronger by eating other animals in the map. From what i've seen a very interesting game :3

no i love the eerie calm of the first half. Its both soothing and haunting at the same time. The buildup of the bass towards the energetic part always gives me chills

Love this cover and it goes great with evolve but I have to say growing up with Danzig, I like original more but I love this version so much because of how amazingly they put it together. I love how the her voice slowly get more intense and how you can hear the guitar come in slowly. Amazing.
