- Every update there are always pets that I rarely ever use for the first few months, and Unicorn pack has been no exception. Today we're going to focus on a pet that you almost never see in custom packs and that's the Salmon on Knowledge. Giving chocolate to opposing pets can be a bit of a problem against random opponents, but maybe there's a way we can reduce how much they benefit from it...

If by 'clever' you mean wastes a lot of time grinding for little to no benefit then yes!
I would like to ask a question. How do you think of cool build ideas like this?
I guess it's just from having played the game so much I tend to be thinking about possible builds all the time. It's pretty satisfying when you make a connection that you haven't seen anywhere else yet :)
seeing the salmon lvl 2 and not giving the two front most pets lvl 3 was so frustrating

I really like the salmon. Ive found that getting it level 3 is very situational. It gets your front units to level 3 if they have one experience. It takes less experience total. One of the benefits of level 3 salmon I guess is being able to swap out your front units at will.
My favorite thing to do with it is getting a lucky cat that is level 1.5 with gingerbread man and a level 2 salmon and then you get both of the level up benefit of the cat. It gives you 3 gold a turn.
A good change for salmon would be to make it give 2 experience and trigger 1/2/3 times on level up. Team spirit and Lucky Cat only go off once if you level up from 1 to 3 which doesn't make sense to me at all! Why does it skip the level 2 trigger? Did level 2 just disappear? This probably should be fixed with a mechanics change versus only a change to Salmon. Questzechal or however its spelled triggers 3 times!
Interesting. I thought you still got the double level up if you went from 1 to 3... but hadn't really looked too closely at it. Most of the exp stuff is pretty sketchy already though so I dunno about buffing salmon, even if it is the weakest link!

It's so viable it only took me 4 or 5 hours to get one good run!!!
Late game other people have their front units leveled up already so its not as much of a benefit for them usually. You got to spend those chocolates elsewhere.
I would say in the majority of runs I had the salmon was benefitting them, unless they had scalers up front. Hence the seahorse. Without team spirit I would say there's pretty much no reason to ever run this guy! Even then there's really no benefit when there are much easier ways to trigger in battle levels.
