- Title: Travels With Our Grandsons: We leave Dawson City (Yukon) and Head to Inuvik (Northwest Territories) With Our Grandsons, S2023E17
Season: 2023, Episode: 17, S2023E17
Video elements recorded: June 15 to 18, 2023
Video created: May 8, 2024
Description:
In this video, we start the big trip with our two grandsons by leaving Dawson City and begin to head north to the Arctic Circle, Yukon, Wright Pass, on the border between Yukon and Northwest Territories, to Fort McPherson, and then Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada. These were some of the milestones we wanted to share with Brayden and Adrien.
We stopped at Eagle Plains, Fort McPherson, and finally Inuvik. We saw aquatic chemistry change the colour of Engineer Creek, which is obvious where Engineer Creek joins the Ogilvie River and where a small creek joins Rock River. We saw two grizzly bears just south of Wright Pass and signs of a tundra fire just over the border into Northwest Territories.
Meanwhile, the Yukon part of the Dempster Highway was in the worst condition that we had experienced compared to our previous trips in 2007 and 2019.

Very cool, I enjoyed the Hare mountain alot
Windy but cool! The Hare Mountain foothill hike video will go up soon ;)
Lovely to see the Dempster again. I've driven it twice to the Ogilvies, doing day trips from Tombstone campsite, and in 2022 all the way to Tuk. I may be up in the Yukon this year, and not sure if we can get to Tombstone, so thanks for taking me along on this trip.
@davebeningfield: Always a pleasure. Enjoy if you get back. It is a very special place.
