Hey, at Benfica he deleted his social media for a while , he closed his account due to fans attacking, so he's obviously quite sensitive to social media
I didn’t know that either. I did know the benfica fans also thought he was no good after season one because of similar things we think. Thank you for that info!
Congrats on the 1k! And Nunez has everything to be Liverpool’s next great #9 but he has ALOT of improving to do. I’ll get behind him but he has to be more professional and keep his head down.
Here are some stats that will interest you Scott Danns 5 apps in the league, 1 in the FA Cup, 2 goals, minutes per goal 39 ( he has only come on for a few minutes in his appearances, apart from when he scored his 2 goals in, 30 minutes against Southampton). He has a shot conversion rate of 40% with those two goals. He hasn't scored in the PL yet, but that is hardly surprising, having only had 34 minutes spread across 5 PL games.
May I throw another theory... Salah's frustration also comes from Darwin failing to put his assists away. The number of assists which Darwin hasn't been able to put away from Mo Salah, is pretty high. There are some sitters. He's basically making Salah look bad on top of failing to score for the team. I suspect when a 'senior' player speaks out, it's gonna hurt.
I fully believe in Darwin Nunez as footballer and next season will see the real Nunez. Mainly because he turns 25 years old and that's kind of age for any sports athlete begins their peak time look at Mo Salah for example. When Salah turned 25 years old, he had his best season by date that was his first season for Liverpool and Salah went on having unbelievable career for us. So people need time and patience.
@@UNCONFORMEDCF Exactly Roman, that's way I still have belief in Darwin will become Liverpool legend for us. He has all tools to be top class centre forward.
Darwin is a good player, but either our current system doesn’t suit or his level of finishing isnt prolific enough for the chances we create. He isn’t the only one who have missed too many chances - even the experienced Salah has scuffed a fair few, but as the starting CF he has to tap in a few more going forward. He has been improving so he likely will. People are lashing out but he hasn’t declined in ability, he just hasn’t immediately been a world class finisher.
Spot on. I think we still have the best of him ahead of us. I think a change in system is for sure something he’d benefit from. So let’s hope Slot can get the most out of him.
Great topic! Agree with you on the data 100%, yet also understand the frustration as well - those offsides were crippling on occasion. However, he just seems to be a player that needs that "last bit" of coaching - whatever that might be - to fix the finishing and some of the decision making on the pitch. I'll also mention that not being fluent with a language has got to be isolating as hell. Not being able to communicate must be a soul-crushing and frustrating experience, especially if you're not "good" at languages. With you on this one, Roman - let's support the guy 100%! But maybe you could help? Perhaps an episode on how we (especially in the US, "non-stadium going" supporters) can support players in real, INNOVATIVE and meaningful ways? (social media is so perfunctory, so leave that out). Any creative ideas?
Any real Liverpool fan seems to have the same opinion on Nunez: He is hugely talented, but there is frustration about his lack of clinical finishing. It's only in the negative echo chamber that is social media that anyone thinks otherwise. I said from signing day that at worst Darwin is an expensive Origi replacement, a man to come and make an impact off the bench. But regardless the Reds will always back him and we'll hear NUNEZ NUNEZ NUNEZ ringing around Anfield. YNWA
For sure! I think he does have value at the club it may not be as a main man. But he has value. I just think he may want to be the main man and choose to go to say Barca if they can somehow find the money.
