I thought Arsenal dropped deeper from the start of the second half before the Gabriel injury and allowed LFC midfield on the ball more. Maybe thats what the Sky panel meant by lack of courage (protecting the lead?)

100% spot on. Missing Odegaard all game, and then their entire first-choice back 4 for most of the second half, is no easy task. This coverage is light years ahead of the tired old biased, cliched garbage on sky sports. In depth tactical analysis, an attempt to detail both managers’ approaches & actual appreciation of the context in which the game was played. Great work
It's nice to follow a football analyst who's more interested in tactical analysis than in picking the low-hanging fruit of, "They bottled it." Keep it up!
It wasn't necessarily kiwior's mistake. It was the entire line. MLS was slightly ahead and as trent was playing the ball over the top he was flipping his hips making him a tad bit slower. So kiwior naturally bumps down the line to cover the wide area. The REAL issue is the rest of the line doesnt follow them or anticipate the ball in behind quick enough leaving gaps in behind
And people say Arteta is on borrowed time etc. etc., yet I see a man pulling high IQ tactics. I don't see why anyone else out there would be a better fit for Arsenal (being he has love for the club). Great video.
It was nice to have Ben White's passing (more so his willingness to play a difficult pass over the top) at CB. Gabriel and Saliba are fine on the ball but they aren't exactly elite at it.
Partey shouldn't have been 50 yards away from White when Trent played that ball over the top but Gapko stayed as wide as possible despite the play not being on that side of the pitch. Personally I'd have liked Partey to tuck in closer to White and give Gapko more space, being closer to the play. If he's 20 yards closer to White when Trent plays that ball, it's not a goal. He gets into the space Salah walks into. Props to Slot and Gapko for sticking out to the wing but honestly that's just poor judgement from Partey imo. (Liverpool fan here / ameteur right back)
@afamefunevictory7749 I mean you learn basic positioning aged 6-7. Don't have to be a natural to know as a right back you get close to your center half. Don't even have to play the game to know that, it's just a known 'thing' in football?
@@SmithyD86 by your logic, any player can play any position, since "you learn basic positioning aged 6-7". Partey is playing RB because we are injury-riddled, but also because in attack, he overloads the middle of the pitch (inverting) to give more control.
We’ve lost with 10 men, and drawn Liverpool without our best defender and best playmaker…. I’m not mad at all. Disappointed with the Bournemouth loss, but not doubting this team one bit! We’ve had a stumble because of injuries. Liverpool will stumble, city will stumble. We’ve already seen it this season. If Liverpool stay fit their have a tremendous shot at the title!
@@selulekofakudze5372 I’m sorry but having an entire back line and a playmaker is more important than jota and a gk. Especially considering we don’t test the gk as much as we should…. Jota is class but not Liverpools best attacker or playmaker. Arsenal losing Odegaard and Saliba is equivalent to Liverpool losing Van Dijk and Salah…. Jota is important but not THAT important
same here, Liverpool had injuries too while not as impactful as ours so I'm sure both clubs can look on this as a good result. both teams have every shot at the title this season. if Arsenal don't win, I'd certainly like to see Liverpool do so, respect all round for a quality side with a quality manager.
Obviously gutted as a LFC fan that they didn't win. But equally obvious is that away to Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea (and Liverpool) are going to be tough games to win this season. So a draw was a better result for Liverpool.
@@in4mus85 Silva was still crying on the ground when they carded Trossard. Rice was walking away and the ball was still moving when they carded him. I can't believe y'all are actually trying to say, "Nah, see, that was different, cause..."
I kicked a waterbottle over when Salah scored because I could see it was Kiwiors mistake right off the bat. Didn’t bother with the Sky Sports waffle after the game as you knew they’d ignore Arsenal missing Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Timber and Tomiyasu and come out with some nonsense that Arsenal didn’t fancy it. 2-2 was a fair result, injuries and suspensions happen, Liverpool are a great side.
Interesting that arsenals xg was almost zero between their 2nd goal and lfc's on 81 mins, so they were not able to kill the game and paid the price. Hence the pundit criticism. Arsenal overloading and frantic tempo in the first half gave them control but they paid for it with fatigue in the 2nd half which was always going to make a win unlikely. Btw, white is a 50million centre half. Weakness? Liverpool giving repeated silly free kicks kept giving arsenal the initiative and eventually gifted them the 2nd goal. Macca was hopeless dealing with the Robertson overload problem. Lfc should be disappointed, giving up 2 soft goals, certainly the 2nd, should have been good enough for the 3 points but weren't. Hopefully slot sees why Gomez was fb all last season and fans player of the year and learns from these tactics. Btw, Trent was playing through pain.
Arteta is a damn brilliant manager from a tactical and coaching standpoint but he has to get us over the line and win majors or people will always hold that over him.
VVD should have gone for kicking Kai. Martinelli should have had a penalty. Legit goal stopped due to Kiwior winning a header when the ref didn't want that to happen. This vid should have been 1 min long. Liverpool got a point from the support of the refs and refs need to do better.
Arsenal fan here 100% agree. Same as the City game. There's a general degree of composure and professionalism in these performances, despite the circumstances. We're cooking!
Im Happy as Well. Cant understand the Wohnung. You know we lost our whole midfield with odegaard yet we are competerive with the best Teams. Do they think we are Prime Barca or smth...
We (Liverpool) got away with one. We didn't deserve a point from this. Yes, that 2nd goal was excellent, but other than that, we were piss poor average against a team with piling injuries before and during the game. Arsenal look stronger than last season but have already had some shocker results against lesser teams. Think this season's gonna be the same as always and solidify our league as a farmers league, as much as BT Sports and Sky Sports won't want to admit that because of obvious reasons.
Arsenal did a great job of shutting down our central progression, but as you stated Liverpool were also unwilling to risk playing through the press, which is something we have done really well this year. It’s ultimately what led to them dominating the first half, I would have liked to see a braver approach. Arsenal are a team set up to win aerial and ground duels in scrappy games, not sure why we thought pumping the ball long to Darwin in a duel against Gabriel or Diaz against Partey would be effective. Pushing Trent into midfield to match numbers up second half made a big difference. It wasn’t just the Arsenal injuries.
Darwin hassling Gabriel all game was the reason he got injured. Bro couldn't cope! So I'd say it worked and will probably result in Arsenal losing a few more points this season as he'll probably be out for a few weeks.
I watched the game at the pub with loads of Arsenal fans. They seem so self obsessed about tbeir two key injuries and almost emotionally fragile because of it. Dont they realise its a long season and a squad game now! Liverpool had their best GK and striker out but didn't hear us complaining before/during/after! 🤔
Our best tarting XI: Raya - Calafiori - Gabriel - Saliba - Timber - Partey - Rice - Odegaard - Martinelli - Havertz - Saka. When we get this lineup back.....watch out.
I completely disagree that arsenal's first goal comes from Havertz's positioning or anything like that. Macca was exactly where he was supposed to be. It was purely terrible defending from Robertson that allows Saka to score. A world-famous left footed player, with no one to cross it to with his weaker foot, should not be cutting in with that much ease.
To be fair, Robertson got nutmegged after a lovely touch from saka. He may be left footed but has actually developed a decent strike with his weaker foot. He can blast them in the roof of the net with his right foot from that angle (seen him do it quite a few times), so I can see why Robertson would want to stop that. Then he got nutmegged. It may have been poor defending but it was quite nice from saka as well, he is not one dimensional and easy to defend as you seem to be implying.
@squanchysquanch1840 I'm not at all saying Saka is easy to defend, I'm saying that situation was easy to defend. Saka didn't have anyone to cross it to, so he has to either take a shot or hold it up. Robertson doesn't know this, presumably, because he hasn't looked. He overruns his sprint, he has no need to be going that hard all the way, he should have tracked Saka's run and slowed down when he got close to goal. Even if he has developed a strong shot on his weaker foot, it's still better than allowing him to cut inside on his stronger foot, no? Yes, he got nutmegged, credit to Saka, but only because Robbo had forgotten to apply the brakes.
One thing which has not been picked up on is the reason Arsenal likely had injuries during the game. The physicality of a player like Darwin (and Salah) hassling you, chasing you, bullying you off the ball is very demanding on the body. Also Arsenal have been very lucky with injuries for the past 2 years with limited squad rotation so these two factors in combination have played a huge part in this result. Arsenal were playing for time even with Gabriel on the pitch, being ultra defensive so I do think they have some kind of mentality issue.
No draw at home against a title rival is a good result imo. This was easily a better result for Liverpool who have taken 2 points off Arsenal from the same fixture compared to last season.
Oh that was a nasty description of what Arsenal did to Andy Robertson. I mean, really. Roasted him in his own juices? Not something I ever expected to hear in a football show. A cooking show maybe, but not a football one. And now that is something I cannot un-hear. Maybe a chefs-hat and apron would have been appropriate.
Absolutely fascinating stuff about Gabriel. Basically it would be the equivalent of Virgil getting injured for Liverpool. The back 4 would be in shambles without Virgil keeping his mates in line
Can we speak about Martinelli not knowing how to dribble and setting up their counter attack? Martinelli loses it and two passes later Liverpool score. We are up 2-1 and hes trying to take on 2 defenders that have owned him all night, and he cant even dribble! It was naive and poor game management.

I appreciate your analysis and think you're one of the best analysist channels on youtube. @@Manning0151we are absolutely embarrassed to drop points to a team with Curtis Jones (Englands 18th choice midfielder) starting. You literally just pumped long balls for 90 minutes
Oh the ending was amazing
This coverage is light years ahead of the tired old biased, cliched garbage on sky sports.
In depth tactical analysis, an attempt to detail both managers’ approaches & actual appreciation of the context in which the game was played. Great work
The Desmond! Showing some age there Adam....
The depleted defence was Arsenal’s undoing. Spot on, Adan
As soon as Gabriel went off we all said, “this is setup for a draw now”. Looking forward to watching this analysis later.
Waiting for part 2 !! ❤
🤡🤡🤡
@RMac-gb6iw how are you feeling today after the matches? 🤡
And people say Arteta is on borrowed time etc. etc., yet I see a man pulling high IQ tactics. I don't see why anyone else out there would be a better fit for Arsenal (being he has love for the club). Great video.
The Desmond 2-2. Brilliant.
It was nice to have Ben White's passing (more so his willingness to play a difficult pass over the top) at CB. Gabriel and Saliba are fine on the ball but they aren't exactly elite at it.
Brilliant analysis. You've changed my POV from gullibly accepting Roy Keane's simplistic critique that Arsenal sat back 2nd half. Thank you!
Great analysis once again. Sky should give u a job
Noo! Please Adam don't retire!!!

(Liverpool fan here / ameteur right back)
He's not a natural RB. Or even a wide player to begin with. Beside him is a FB for a CB. Cut him slack please 😑. Chelsea fan here.
Excellent thank you.
You're forgetting liverpool came to this game without Allison and Jota, 2 of their XI if fit😅
Good luck, hoping it's arsenal that wins it if not us.
Not 115 fc
@@jeffbezos2570 hopefully third times the charm for us…. Losing Odegaard really shows how much we really do need more ball playing midfielders.
Nice one Adam
I couldn’t have put it better myself
❤❤❤❤ good job Adam 👏
11:37 "cos-play as Gabriel" 🤣😂😅
Obviously gutted as a LFC fan that they didn't win. But equally obvious is that away to Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea (and Liverpool) are going to be tough games to win this season. So a draw was a better result for Liverpool.
It's a race between who drops more points against the teams outside of the top three.
Luis Diaz not even getting booked TWICE for committing the same "crime" that Arsenal copped two reds for is hilarious stuff
Diaz did not commit the same crime that Arsenal did!
@@davidsds473Diaz clearly kicked the ball away.

no team lost it was huge for both of them, i still think its early days
Since it's a green field, perhaps use blue arrows (not green arrows) for completed passes.
I don't know much about football really, but totally believe Arsenal are the best team in the league . I think they deserve the title this year
It's a shame Timber & Gabriel couldn't continue because Liverpool had nothing to show for. If not for them injuries, it was 3 points for Arsenal.
I’m here in under a minute!, that probably means I’m way to online!
Basically zero xg after your 2nd goal. Almost guaranteed not to win
Having played tottenham villa man city away and Liverpool at home and getting 8 points is a good return
"Cherry" picking games
VVD should have gone for kicking Kai. Martinelli should have had a penalty. Legit goal stopped due to Kiwior winning a header when the ref didn't want that to happen.
This vid should have been 1 min long. Liverpool got a point from the support of the refs and refs need to do better.
Make a video on el classico please.
Sky Sports pundits should genuinely be BANNED from providing any sort of analysis forever.
Literally put
White Rice Kwior Lewis and it looks like a normal back line
Arsenal fan here 100% agree. Same as the City game. There's a general degree of composure and professionalism in these performances, despite the circumstances.
We're cooking!
Im Happy as Well. Cant understand the Wohnung. You know we lost our whole midfield with odegaard yet we are competerive with the best Teams. Do they think we are Prime Barca or smth...
I think that at the end of the day they're both chasing with City and a draw maybe isn't the desired outcome but it may save them in the long run.
thx
We (Liverpool) got away with one. We didn't deserve a point from this. Yes, that 2nd goal was excellent, but other than that, we were piss poor average against a team with piling injuries before and during the game.
Arsenal look stronger than last season but have already had some shocker results against lesser teams.
Think this season's gonna be the same as always and solidify our league as a farmers league, as much as BT Sports and Sky Sports won't want to admit that because of obvious reasons.
Of course I'm this early, its an adam clery video
@@yourguy382 accidentally injuring an opposition player is hardly a tactic is it 😂

Martinelli should be nowhere near the best XI

@ fair enough
One thing which has not been picked up on is the reason Arsenal likely had injuries during the game. The physicality of a player like Darwin (and Salah) hassling you, chasing you, bullying you off the ball is very demanding on the body. Also Arsenal have been very lucky with injuries for the past 2 years with limited squad rotation so these two factors in combination have played a huge part in this result. Arsenal were playing for time even with Gabriel on the pitch, being ultra defensive so I do think they have some kind of mentality issue.
This match could have one sided to Liverpool if they had pressed high from the start
Merino was offside. Clear and obvious.
Can you do a video on the arsenal refereeing
No draw at home against a title rival is a good result imo. This was easily a better result for Liverpool who have taken 2 points off Arsenal from the same fixture compared to last season.
Oh that was a nasty description of what Arsenal did to Andy Robertson. I mean, really. Roasted him in his own juices? Not something I ever expected to hear in a football show. A cooking show maybe, but not a football one. And now that is something I cannot un-hear. Maybe a chefs-hat and apron would have been appropriate.
He cooked him to be fair 😂 poor robbo he’s in his old age was a great lb
Absolutely fascinating stuff about Gabriel. Basically it would be the equivalent of Virgil getting injured for Liverpool. The back 4 would be in shambles without Virgil keeping his mates in line
did you just compare Gabriel to Van Dijk?🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣, i need whatever you're smoking
@Manning0151 obviously VD has been better for longer than Gabriel, but I was comparing them as leaders of their respective back lines
@Manning0151 you're talking to a Liverpool fan by the way which is why i was thinking thru that perspective
Can we speak about Martinelli not knowing how to dribble and setting up their counter attack? Martinelli loses it and two passes later Liverpool score. We are up 2-1 and hes trying to take on 2 defenders that have owned him all night, and he cant even dribble! It was naive and poor game management.
I love my club
Artete turns into prime Mourinho
Hey love the analysis and I watch all your videos but I've noticed that almost all your coverage is mostly English centric. I appreciate your analysis and think you're one of the best analysist channels on youtube. However I'd love to see a video on Barcelona's tactics especially that high line that most people call poor defending when in actuality it's one of the most well coordinated implementation of a high-line offside trap I've ever seen. Would really want to see a deep breakdown on this and their overall tactics. I really think their "high-line offside trap" will spark a new tactical revolution when it comes to defending in the near future.
Another excellent vid Adam! Gooner here, with that defence i agree we did well not to lose!
