I enjoyed starting my morning with this lovely piece. Very beautiful story and I could almost smell the good cooking. ☺ I am in the Midwest US. I have also enjoyed the poetry readings you have added recently.
The way you present on RUclips is so wonderful. Normally the presenter seem to like themselves more than what they have to say. You actually have something to say, yet we never see your face. You make the subject really the subject. Hope that makes sense, it’s hard to express what you think in a language that’s not your own. I’m from the Netherlands. I don’t know how I stumbled upon your video, but I’m really glad I did. Your videos are calm, friendly, nice and cosy - as are you I think - and it makes me feel safe and at home. So:: thank you from the bottom of my heart 💜
Thank you so much. That's a beautiful thing to say - and with perfect English...you Dutch are fabulous in English... no..BETTER in English than most of us lol 😆
Reading all these comments it’s interesting to see how many people long for this simpler, more spiritual life in touch with their surroundings. I think the pandemic has made us more aware of that so perhaps the only good that’s come out of it all! But your videos are very beautiful, well put together and inspiring and your recipes are delicious. I tried your lemon curd tarts and they were lovely.
I couldn't have said it better. I too love her videos and anything Victorian. Going to try her Cottage Pie tonight in the middle of a Nor Easter good hot comfort home cooking!
A mysterious tower, the loss of a beloved wife and a walk through a misty stonewalled Victorian Graveyard... Well done! Very lovely channel. I am in East Tennessee, USA
Hauntingly sublime video, dear lady. How sweet of you to pay your respects to Bertha's grave...it shows how much you cherish and value true love. And thank you for the cottage pie recipe...here in the States, we often refer to it as "Shepherd's Pie." Thank you for bringing so much beauty and grace to our lives through your many talents. I eagerly look forward to your next video! [P.S. Watching from New Hampshire, USA]
The delicacy, grace and respect with which you narrated and remembered these past lives touched my heart. I always follow you with great pleasure, I love your stories of simple life, your recipes and the places where you live, full of charm and history. I hope one day to finally be able to realize my dream of a trip to your beautiful and magical land. Hugs from Italy. Patrizia
I cannot adequately express how much I love your videos. I am always so excited when I see a new one pop up. Watching them is like gift to myself, getting to have your stories, recipes and life shared. Your work is lovely and much appreciated. 😊
I'm watching from North Idaho, USA. We lived in South Yorkshire for 5 years and my daughter was born there. My son caught his first trout on the River Wharfe near Bolton Abbey, and we spent many a weekend exploring the countryside. We were so lucky to be able to live in this beautiful part of the UK! I do miss the village I lived in and the wonderful friends I made there. Your videos are a lovely reminder. :) Thank you!
My friend.thee thoughtfulness and kindness that you show and tell there stories is beyond words.we all should honor thee past.that was lovely.your voice is so soothing.thank you.🤗🕯️😇.yummy food.bless you and your family.
Hi from Maine USA! I’ve had a pen pal in Yorkshire for 17 years. I pretty much only listen to RUclips videos while doing housework but yours I save for tea break so I can sit and fully take in the gifts you share with us. ❤️
As always a beautiful video. The English Countryside is so pretty. I am in northern California, USA. I'm sipping on a lovely cuppa Yorkshire Gold tea while watching your video and wishing I could have some of that yummy cottage pie!
I loved this, the tower and story and leaving flowers at the grave, it was beautiful and haunting and lovely and made the past come alive. Also the horses. and the cottage pie. it was a lovely video.
Thank you, it was touching to see you honouring Mr and Mrs Boot. I cannot help wondering if they had any descendants to remember them. Cottage pie really yummy. Lots of love from Aus. xxx
I found your channel quite by accident and glad I did. I enjoy your content very much. I live in the state of Missouri in the USA. So many miles away and a very different culture. Thanks for sharing your life with us and enriching our lives with your warmth. I will never make it to your country but am transported a bit by your channel. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for this exquisite video, how Charles must have loved and missed Bertha so, particularly resonated with me as my maternal Grandma was called Bertha, the flowers were a very thoughtful touch. Reading and delighting from Suffolk, England x
This is a wonderful film. The presentation is most appropiate with the silence of the presenter, coupled with the isolation. I was born in Nafferton, East Riding, near Driffield. I now live in South West London.
I love history, especially english, love horses, countrysides and cottage pie! You're videos couldn't be more perfect, i think i have found a kindred spirit. Thank you for your time and effort making these videos, love from subtropical Brisbane, Australia xx
Really enjoyed the history lesson in this one, the respect you show is wonderful. The horses looked so lovely and friendly. The cottage pie looked delicious, exactly the type of thing we need in the current weather conditions! Stay safe! X
You have a rare gift my dear friend, to speak without saying a word! So blessed that I happened to find your channel!!! I am watching from my cozy & warm “English style cottage” in N.Y.... my great grandad came over from the UK but sadly I never met him 😞, I heard he was a lovely man... btw I had a grandma named Bertha (she too has passed 😢, but her husband wasn’t Charles, it was Clarence) cannot wait until your next vlog!!! 😘 🤗
This was a very touching video, Bertha & Charles’s spirits must have appreciated you honoring the both of their lives. Oh! the cottage pie so delicious certain recipes are timeless & will always be on our tables ( wish I made this after shoveling snow ❄️ today 😂) looking forward to next Sunday !!
Thank you for this beautiful tranquil video, so informative! The horses are stunning it reminds me of one of the most happiest times of my life. I had several horses for Hunter's/jumpers and Dressage. Memories of my precious horses and my dearest friend since kindergarten (lost her to cancer 9 years ago. The countryside is so lovely and the old graveyards tell many stories of the past. PS I'm making a similar recipe ( Shepherds Pie) tonight. 🙏🙏👍
I’m in Pueblo Colorado and I love your channel and loved this story!! Thank you. Please know you are more than appreciated!!! Hugs from the Rocky Mountains!! 🥰🏔🏔🥰
enjoyed you taking us on your enchanted walk. And the local story of Mr Boot and his wife. I believe I will try your recipe tomorrow for dinner. It looked amazing . Thank you for sharing. I am from the States, North Carolina the community is called Sophia
Such a beautiful video, I love seeing the English countryside. I’m watching from a small town in Oregon on the west coast of the US about an hour south of Portland. Thank you for sharing your beautiful surroundings and your cottage pie looks amazing! 😊
On Vancouver Island. Expat from the Wirral Cheshire. Just found you! I have been immersed in your beautiful videos this Sunday morning. Made me homesick for the cooking, the moorlands, the seashores and old villages of my childhood. I was born in the dark times of war, in the blitz, and the England of today is so totally alien to me. Thankyou SO much for all the joy you bring.
I think this is one of my favorites. The story of Charles and Bertha Boot, Such sadness and beauty. How fitting to have discovered this especially at this time of year when death and memory permeate everything around us. The fact that you went to find her grave with flowers and pottery, much of life is about memory and the things we leave behind. People all over the Asian world hold custom in paying respect and homage to relatives and friends long after they're gone. I think it makes us appreciate life more and makes it all the more worth living. Vegetarian Cottage pie, gosh your stepping with the times, you go girl! The poem at the end brought everything together, I found the poem in its entirety online, it's a new one for me, the bit about nature really resonates with me, It feels like how I've always felt in my relationship with nature. Woods and field are a cathedral and the heavens its dome. Lots of love from America to you and your family!
I look forward to every new video you post. They're so dreamy and calming. I watch from South Carolina USA, where we are building a cottage in the woods. 😊
For goodness sakes!!! This was beyond beautifully shot and so well produced! I adore these videos- epic! Comforting- moving - and chilling! You should be a movie producer😢😔💕 Absolutely LOVE
Not only are your videos visually outstanding but the historical context that you share is very moving. You are brilliant at your craft my friend. Thank YOU! 💖💜💙💚💛❤
I did enjoy the haunting history story. The scenery was stunning and I always enjoy the music you choose. I’m watching from the state of North Carolina USA. Cottage pie is similar to what I fix called shepherds pie. The poem was nice at the end.
I have lived in the countryside in the last 2 years, I decided to run back to the city a few weeks back, I don't completely regret my decision because it lead me to the realization of how blessed I was to be able to life simply on a farm. 🌈 I say this to say that Your videos really helped in me in my most vulnerable state ,in my state of indecisiveness I didn't know where or what to do. Your videos were a constant reminder of what I am missing out on, you helped see the value in simple rural living🌱 Please don't ever stop sharing, you never know who your videos might be helping out there.🤗💜
My career schedule in 2019 and the first of 2020 was a whirlwind, so I had decided in February to slow way down before COVID hit our area. So when things did start to shut down I was already in slow motion to begin with. Then March 1st we made a spur of the moment decision to simplify even more and move to Puerto Rico. Simplifying THAT much was quite a culture shock for me but now since I've moved here (September 14th) I'm starting to acclimate. It's quite an adventure and your videos are such a source of joy for me that I've shared them with friends on my Facebook page. I lived in England in my 20's so I have a similar recipe for Cottage Pie, which I made a week ago. It feels weird to look out at the beach with curtains blowing in the breeze, palm trees and 83 degrees while we're eating it, though. LOL.
Thank you for sharing with me some of your beautiful history, I love the way you make your videos they are so soothing ans relaxing. Thanks for sharing the cottage pie I love it is so simply but gives big impact on flavor. I really enjoy the reading at the end i close my eyes and picture myself in a peaceful place with some one reading to me love it. Thank you so much looking forward to your next one. keep safe and all my blessing to you all. 🙏💖💞😊
I live in the land of OZ! (Kansas) Very touching story. I'm gonna cook that pie! Looks beautiful. Lol. Since watching your videos I've gone ahead and crocheted borders on my kitchen towels. Little extra love for the eyes and kitchen. I enjoy your videos so much. I would love to walk the grounds of England's countryside.
A lovely, beautiful video, full of cosiness and wisdom. Well done, you are truly gifted! Can't wait to travel through the UK with my family! Greetings from the Netherlands X
When I saw the drop of oil run down the bottle I thought of the tears Charles may have shed, looking out towards his wife's grave Sorry! Don't mean to be gloomy! I love the dish you cooked the pie in. And love Yorkshire, as you know xo
Watching your video in the Netherlands 🤗 I loved this story so much, so sad but so beautiful. I love history and graveyards 💗🌹 Loved to hear your voice again on the end 🥰 Thanks again for sharing 🙏
Thank you for sharing your great wealth of knowlege in the historical parts of where you live. You create such beautiful videos. It's nice to know there is still calm and beauty in the world, thank you for being a part of that.
Hı,I am watching you from Bodrum,TURKEY. I really like your videos,I like the poems,I like the recipees,I like the silence.Every second is perfect in the videos.İt is nice that we don’t see any faces,so we can focus on the scenes and the spirit of your themes.Thank you .
How sublime. I opened the door of my imagination and walked out into the reality of your world. Thank you for another invitation to share the beautiful wildness of Nature's converse, a wild heart to heart speaking to the human heart in the language of love unbounded, flowing, expressed in memorials of love lived and lost, and through the eyes of those living yet here and now. I see it in the care with which you prepare such delectable food and meals as an expressions of your love flowing to your family. And, I can feel the love of the words that flow from off the pages of inspiring selections. I am left with a sense of belonging in a world larger than my imagining, and a world that slowly dances to different music at the speed of life.
OOOO my god. As an Outlander fan, How I appreciate the begining of your video. Love the whole video, in fact. 😊 How you get us dip in the lost Love story. 🧡🧡🧡
Thank you so much! Oh I'm a huge Outlander Fan too - just wait and see what I have instore later this year. (I'm stuck in a small radius at the moment with Lockdown, but once I can get out and about, I have lots of filming to do! ;) xx
Hello Yorkshire Lady! Just come across your videos and am already hooked! I, too, am an Outlander fan so am now very excited!! I am writing from Beckenham in Kent, although am originally from Liverpool. Thanks for putting so much effort into your videos, it is really appreciated, Tracy x
Thank you sharing the beautiful countryside of your homeland. I enjoy your videos very much. I admit I had to look up what Quorn mince was. Had never heard of it. I have a sister in law that is from Mitchell, Cornwall but now lives in Gunnislake.
Oh my Goodness...Byron to begin my Sunday! Thank you so much! Sending a hug from the Rocky Mountains in Canada. You are a Blessing every week and it's a joy to see your part of the world. Every joy to you and your family.
Fabulous!!! We call your dish shepherds pie here in America. I make this for my family during cold months 😋. Absolutely love the video I look so forward to them. There’s other videos here on RUclips called slow living but in my opinion they don’t hold a candle to yours. Thank you for sharing. Be blessed.
I love how you embrace and have such a deep respect for history. Your cottage pie looks delicious! Here in North America, we call it Shepherd's Pie...but Cottage Pie sounds a lot more cozy :)
@@sticklebacksummer Ah - that makes sense given the name. Thank you for that. In Canada and US "Shepherd's Pie" is made with ground beef...with many cultural foods, we have the tendency to "Americanize" things :(
So beautiful and calming and heart warming! I’m from the outskirts of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I’ve always wanted to visit your part of the world....one day perhaps. Thank you.I will be trying your cottage pie recipe tonight, as I was planning something similar that my mom used to make for me as a child! Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Awesome Video yet again, loved the haunting story, it brought tears to my eyes. I might have to make some shepherds pie too as I have not had that since I left England many, many moons ago. Thank you for showing us your part of the world... though it does make me home sick a wee bit!! (I am living in Australia)... Blessings to you and your lovely family x
I hope you enjoy this haunting story. Please comment where you're watching from!!! ;) I'm in Yorkshire, England (if you didn't already know)
Capital area, Denmark.
I enjoyed starting my morning with this lovely piece. Very beautiful story and I could almost smell the good cooking. ☺ I am in the Midwest US. I have also enjoyed the poetry readings you have added recently.

It's cold and wintery and snowing it would warm my belly. Thank you.

You are such an amazing storyteller! This video and music are beautiful. I love the story about Bertha and Charles Boot.

When I saw the drop of oil run down the bottle I thought of the tears Charles may have shed, looking out towards his wife's grave

Mmmm beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I live in Valleyview Alberta Canada.
You are very welcome 🙏
Wow Judy, that's such a lovely post! Thank you xx
OOOO my god. As an Outlander fan, How I appreciate the begining of your video. Love the whole video, in fact. 😊 How you get us dip in the lost Love story. 🧡🧡🧡

Fabulous!!! We call your dish shepherds pie here in America. I make this for my family during cold months 😋. Absolutely love the video I look so forward to them. There’s other videos here on RUclips called slow living but in my opinion they don’t hold a candle to yours. Thank you for sharing. Be blessed.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you liked it!! xx
Shepherds pie is made with lamb in England 🏴 (well, certainly in the part I’m from😊)
Beautiful! I love your channel, thank you from a Latin woman living in London.
Thank you Marcia xx
What a heart warming story!!! Thank you.
I love how you embrace and have such a deep respect for history. Your cottage pie looks delicious! Here in North America, we call it Shepherd's Pie...but Cottage Pie sounds a lot more cozy :)
Shepherd's pie is made with lamb , cottage pie with beef
Thank you lovely! I hope you get to visit one day xx
Hi Annette - here's a virtual tissue 🤧 Thank you for your kind words xx
