It'll creep anyone out to realise that this is very loosely based on lol, I'd never say though on the back of the cover (least here it was) when it says inspired by real events, thats bollocks no it wasn't not even close, loosely based on Ed Gein, similar to Psycho and the Buffalo Bill character in some ways.
@@LGray71 Not only that but in the shower scene it randomly keeps cutting to a thunderstorm outside the motel while Marion's getting killed, when Arbogast gets killed out of nowhere flashes to a naked woman and a goat with blood dripping from its beard happen.
It must’ve been so scary seeing it in the theatre! I wish I had that experience but then again I was literally 6 when it came out so no way was I able to see it in the cinemas at the time lmao 😂
@@EnchantedTooWell lol i was 3 for this one and 6 for the prequel that came after.... needless to say i couldnt see them as a kid in theaters, but watching at 2 am in ur pre/early teens its still good, fun, and had good scares/suspension building. Actually love these reimaginings compared to most, and especially the past 2-3 texas chainsaws..
Growing up watching old slashers I remember when this movie came out and it scared the shit out of me. It's still the only slasher film I've seen only a couple times cause of how uncomfortable it makes me feel watching these people be tortured with no hope of escape.
I loved this movie tbh, that shot of the camera zooming backwards through her mouth then her head just drops back... classic man it's stuck with me all these years
Saw this when I was 17 in theatres and man, it was INTENSE! I had watched countless horror movies before that as well so that speaks volumes to how effective it was.
Just saw it, didn't expect to love it more than The Beginning! I think Leatherface has the scariest look in this one! I think, besides beeing less gory than it's prequel, it's far more mentally challenging and has far more intense moments! Totally love it, this is the real Leatherface!
I got to come back to this review every now and then. This is one of the only movies that the tv spot alone kept me up at night. As a kid who lived in Texas everything about this movie scared me. My aunt had this on dvd and I can remember staring at the back of the case at the pictures for hours. Love this film!
The found footage stuff, coupled with the file photos that came with the special edition DVD that I had actually made me believe that it was a recreation of a real story. I agree that this is very high in the rankings of horror remakes.
This is one of my favorites. 2003/4 was a hard time for me. But one of my favorite memories is hanging with my friends, smoking weed and watching movies together, helped me get through those times. TTCM remake was one of them.
You and drumdums are seriously my favorite movie review Friends ever, Cody you understand what should be made right into horror or any genre films we love into perspective as a true fan and even friend... I appreciate you guys making me fall in love with fall again like the kids we used to be.
This movies is brilliant a perfectly scary, gory and fast paced remake. Brilliant characters that have all these different personalities and creepy as hell family. Cinematography is beautiful too.
Hell yeah, Cody! Another fantastic review from you. This is definitely one of the best horror remakes of all time! My dad took me to see it in theaters when I was 11, and I remember being very scared and entertained! And for me, it still holds up at age 27!
This was my favorite installment of the series. But you definitely reminded me of when my friends and I went to the theatre when it came out. Keep improving, you are doing pretty good.
Love your channel man, you and the maniacal cinophile should do a collaboration if y'all haven't already. The reboot TCSM movies are my favorite. Rings way more frightening to me than anything else. Keep er goin mister
Also I couldn't agree more, this was my first introduction to the series and I rented it on DVD when it came out. I was 13 as well and my family had a great home theatre (as good as you could get for that time) And I watched it by myself and it really was very unnerving. I was terrified specially since I watched it alone but I told myself I was gonna make it through which I'm glad I did because the beginning really does a fantastic job of building up the suspense.
Apart from classic remakes like The Fly and The Thing, this is definitely one of the best remakes. Regarding recent remakes, I would also rank Evil Dead and Last House on the Left among the best even though I hear a lot of love for the Hills Have Eyes remake. Didn't you just recently hit 4k subscribers, Cody, because that 5k mark is just phenomenal! Looking forward to more amazing reviews from you as usual, man!
I thought this was one of the better newer remakes. The new Amityville horror was ok, the Friday the 13th wasn't bad. Nightmare on Elm Street was bad but only because of the script. Halloween was ok. The adult Michael Myers was better than him as a kid (trying to sympathize with him) This had the old school feel to the film but was updated with scares and intense. I wished they didn't go backwards after this and would've done a part 2 instead of a prequel. Could you do a best horror remake list list?
I love this man. This was the first Texas Chainsaw movie I seen. And the first R rated movie I saw in the cinema by myself. I also had to see this twice in theatres. definitely one of the best. And I just hate it when people constantly compare remakes to the originals and give the remake the middle finger.
I thought this film was brilliant one of the best horror film's and one of the best remakes I only wish it was a little more violent but otherwise A+ in my view.
Edit: I see you answered about your nose already. Glad you're okay, good to see you keep your videos coming and not put them off because of the scabbing. True dedication there, don't think I would be able to do that myself. Keep up the great work!
This definitely was the first character that truly terrified me as a kid. Freddy was and Jason were both scary at the time but holy shit when Leatherface came through the door with the chainsaw I almost jumped out of my seat and ran away.
Never gave the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series a chance but since I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews for this remake (except freaking Rotten Tomatoes) I'm going to start by giving it a chance with watching this movie
i was literally screaming at the screen when she was lying on the ground with the chainsaw screaming at it while leather face is tussling with her friend.
yoooo this movie haunted me for YEARS. i remember watching it when it came out to Hollywood Video and i was only 8 years old at the time, and it really made me think leatherface was gonna come after me and my family FOR YEARS. i also have a permanent fear of chainsaws now but its also because theyre loud af and how wouldnt that scare anyone haha
Nigel is definitely a visionary director & he did a great job w/ both Texas & Friday remake, Cool note: He's the guy that directed Bush's big budget music video in the mid 90s for "Greedy Fly" which was highly inspired by the movie Seven.
The opening 😂 This is my favorite remake of all time. I remember this in the theatre and after the girl shoots her head off, a woman grabs her 5 year old boy and escorts him out. 😂 My most scary movie in the theatre experience as well. At least, it's the first one I think of when I think of most scared in the theatre. I actually prefer it to the original. The original, and I know this is it's point, leaves you exhausted after we watch Sallys journey through hell whereas the remake is so much more fast paced in its delivery. I get tired while watching the original and the table scene gets tiring fast but keeps going in terms of torturing Sally. I'm just like, get this over with already. But I'm not a huge aficionado of this series. I just love a good slasher movie and this totally delivered. I remember the next generation made me want to pull my eyes out it was so bad.
Wow was I blown away when I saw this in the theatre at how bloody, vicious and boundary pushing this film was. The scene where (I think ) Jessica Biel has to kill the guy who lost part of his legs because he asks her to is so raw, so violent. Some days I hate this movie, some days I love it
Yes, I think the remake was vastly underestimated (in particular by the critics) especially compared with some of the other films in the franchise so it's nice to see you pointing that out. I almost completely agree with you here with a tiny exception: I don't think Biel's character Erin made that many dumb decisions in the first two thirds and she was actually supported by Pepper as well so she wasn't going against the entire group. I think the only stupid decisions she made was picking up the hitchhicker and when she committed suicide, not dropping her off and get out of here. All the other times when she put herself or her friends in danger was trying to save one of her friends or her boyfriend Kemper. So there's the irony, when she was trying to save someone in the team, she got her other friends killed.
I also saw this movie for the first time in theaters at like 13 and was introduced to the franchise. This movie always stuck in my mind because of how scary it was.
Don't be fuckin with my boy Cody. Go get a life dude and quit putting negative Reviews on people's stuff. everyone's in titled to their own opinions. where's your RUclips channel and videos where's your subscribers? oh that's right you ain't got none. 😂😂😂

It took me a long time to figure out that the hitchhikers mother, father and brother were killed by the Hewitt family, and Erin saved her little sister.
I think the water is coming from the earth above the dungeon. If you take notice of where they come out when they escape the dungeon. It's basically in the middle of the field beside the house.
The First Time That I Ever Saw This Scary Movie I Was 12 Year's Old I Got Scared This One Introduced Me To The Franchise I Really Love How Scary This One Is
I had a very emotional dream about this movie last night...I relived the memory of my first time watching it..m I woke up beautiful sad.... I had to re watch your review
This Remake is like my all tiime favourite Horror Movie :)) It has everything i need and want from a Horror Movie. Thanks a lot for the review Cody. I am totally new to your Channel so here i am checking out your Videos. Keep up the amazing Work.
I was in my elementary years when this movie came out and I remember my cousin having a cool two disc set of it! Scared the crap of me then and I love it now when I got it on blu-ray a few months ago!
Best remake in my opinion. The original from 74 is my favorite horror movie of all time....so this movie could never take the top slot. Overall though I think they did a very good job. Remakes in general tend to suck pretty hard but this one did a solid job
Yo R. Lee Ermey is DEFINITELY the scariest character in this movie and in the "Beginning" prequel (which I also love). As far as remakes go, for me at least, it's this remake, Friday the 13th and the Evil Dead remake which are my top 3. I probably missed one or two - but those are the most memorable for me because I saw them in theaters and I know it's "blasphemous" but I prefer them over the originals. Actually if it weren't for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I wouldn't be here, as going to see that movie was my parents FIRST DATE. Great call POP - my mother made them leave about halfway through the movie lol.
Like the reboot/remake of Friday the 13th this Leather face felt very primal, and very visceral. Tho the original is better shot and filmed as it was a far better director and more vile and sick this was one of the top 3 horror remake's and reboots. When that survivor woman kills herself rather then even have a 1% chance of going back to the Sawyer's I felt ok.... they are again embracing that 1970's spirit of shock, disgust, horrify, and unnerve. Overall a very done film and one I often get new people in horror to watch after the original. I just feel the talent of the director makes the original a classic where as this is just a solid an good horror film.
I remember watching this movie for the first time when i was like 10. It SCARRED me for life i'm not even kidding. I think it's one of the scariest most traumatic movies i've ever seen. Maybe that's because i was reaaaally young to be watching that, but i don't think that any movie could ever make me feel THAT scared again. In fact, i praise the actors for filming that movie. Can you imagine a guy that big chasing you with a chainsaw? no way. i couldn't do it. i would 100% pass out.
I liked this film until I saw the prequel, then realized how much this one did wrong. Leatherface was made to be too much like some sort of inhuman monster in this one, with creepy eyes and always grunting. Also he nearly cuts his own leg off and gets his arm hacked off yet can still run around with a massive chainsaw. Plus I didn't care for the side cast of the hitchhiker girl, the little boy, or the family in the trailer.
This Movie I watched with a Group of friends when I was 16. We all went to the Mall, and had a blast. I am now 34 years old, and just seen the original movie. As much as I Loved this movie as a teenager, I gotta say the original movie was indeed scary.
This remake is one of the best
+Saiyan Sleek Media Definitely

RIP R. Lee Ermey. Guy was a classic.
The first time I ever saw him was in The Frighteners when he made a cameo.
I didn't know he passed away 😔 how?
I remember him in the Frighteners but he was absolutely perfect for/in these two movies, that’s great casting right there.
“ your ass looks like 20 pounds of chewed bubblegum “
What?!? I had no idea he passed away!! The dude was a brilliant actor, scary af in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake
This and the Friday the 13th remake are my 2 favourite horror remakes. By far the worst horror remake though is the 1998 Psycho remake.
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
I've always thought Marcus Nispel was the master of horror remakes. TCM and F13 are 2 of my top 5 remakes.
Agreed. The Psycho remake was just ridiculous. Scene for scene but they add in Norman having a wank, wtf.

Great Movie and Great Review. I agree 100% with ur entire critique.
I also experienced this film in three theater and holy shit! Great experience!
Without a doubt this is my favorite Texas Chainsaw movie.
I love this movie definitely the best remake ever !
One of the best remakes ever found it genuinely scary and i do prefer it to the original
This isn't only my favorite remake, but it's my favorite TCM movie and possibly my favorite horror movie.
Plus I didn't care for the side cast of the hitchhiker girl, the little boy, or the family in the trailer.
the best in the remake time
Great review like always! Keep up the good work.
+Mitchel Danielson Thanks a lot man
Cody Leach Your welcome dude.
This Movie I watched with a Group of friends when I was 16. We all went to the Mall, and had a blast. I am now 34 years old, and just seen the original movie. As much as I Loved this movie as a teenager, I gotta say the original movie was indeed scary.
Yeah the original film is a masterpiece.
It’s really between the 2003 and 2006
Amazing remake! One of my favorites! Awesome review
