Hey there, It’s a custom made subwoofer using an old 12” SVS driver from a cylinder sub and a BASH plate amp from parts express. I had the crossover set at 60 Hz. However, this will be dependent on your room’s acoustics and how low the speakers are going on their own then adjust the subs x-over accordingly. I didn’t want the sun doing too much work, let the speakers produce what they can and let the sun fill in what they can’t or don’t.
@@theeverydayaudiophile4147 Thanks for the reply, I'm in the process of moving from floor speakers and just bought the q150's. Very nice sounding speaker but could use a little help at the bottom end. Having no experience with subwoofers I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before i decide on anything. Experimenting can be costly, I'd like to be happy right out of the gate. I'm leaning towards a rel at the moment.
I wouldn’t recommend a cheap receiver when you can get an inexpensive integrated amp instead. The NAD C 316 BEE is good and you can find them used for not a lot of money.
x PHANTOM x The speaker stands are made by Pangea Audio. Model # DS100. I filled the stands with non clumping clay cat litter to dampen resonances. For use on wood floors, you will need to cut felt with adhesive backing to fit the bottom of the stands or use discs on which the included spikes can be placed.
ALBERTO ALBINI Good afternoon. I used the Bluesound Node 2i music streamer, the Pioneer DV-47Ai CD/SACD/DVD, and the Fluance RT82 turntable with a Nagaoka MP-110 cart.
how different sound a room can create! Nad c316 with Q150 here too, and the bass is so deep but intense that I don't know what to do while in your video it's almost non existent ! Maybe speakers are far from rear wall ? Room too big ? Thanks for the videos !
social sensor Indeed. A room is the largest component of our stereo/HT system. The bass on the Q150 is quite good given its size but it cannot pressurize my 740 sq ft apartment. This is why I use the subwoofer during my listening sessions but it is not on in any of the sound demos. Thanks for your comment!
Hi Gage, In all honesty, both the KEF Q150 & the Borea BR03 are great speakers. I doubt you'd be unhappy with either one of them in your setup. Comparing them side by side reveals the slight differences between them and I preferred the Borea BR03 speakers but, if I wasn't comparing them to each other directly, I'd have been happy with either one. How the speakers interact with your listening room is a big factor as is the equipment you have paired up with the speakers. It's about the sum of the parts here, everything in the setup matters (in my humble opinion). Thanks for your question!
CZ I think that the Polk Audio Signature Series S15 is a very good speaker for desktop use. It can be placed close to a wall boundary without issue. It produces very good bass, nice midrange, and detailed top end retrieval. Nice cabinets, well made.
I bought the Q150 with a cheap amp Nobsound NS-20G (200W) for my PC and Omg I fell in love with thoses! The details of the Q150 are impressive! Sometime I prefer to listen to them than my Klipsch RP-8000F plugged to my Denon AVR-S950H.
Thanks for the comment. It’s a track with a wide dynamic range and fast transitions. The guitar has weight and body. The percussion is quick and deep in spots.
@@theeverydayaudiophile4147 i totally agree with rodrigo, its ideal to have a good selection of different genres of music to make a demo, some rock, electronic, female vocals, male vocals, hip hop etc etc to get a better taste of how speakers behave
I don't really understand what's the point of videos like this - this has very little relevance to anyone who does know intimately the recording equipment used and all the components ... so why waste the time? At least offer some comparison or opinion ...

Thank you for the demo. Multiple reviews on RUclips for this speaker, but just talk, no demo. Appreciate it very much.✌🏽
Thanks for the demo! Subscribed.
Are these comparable to the Emotiva B1+?
Do you think Pioneer SX 780 would sound well with Q150?
Curious what subwoofer your using and where you set the crossover?

@@Truckinthrulife REL is known for very musical subs.
Was the sub-woofer hooked up?
No, the subwoofer was not connected. I wanted to hear the bookshelf speakers by themselves. They’re quite impressive for their price and size.
I have a cheap Sony receiver. Any good receiver that you would recommend ?
I wouldn’t recommend a cheap receiver when you can get an inexpensive integrated amp instead. The NAD C 316 BEE is good and you can find them used for not a lot of money.
Thanks for the demo. Can you do a comparison to the Triangle BR03 when you do your review?
Hi Kenneth, I will try to evaluate each speaker on its own and then you can compare my findings if you like.
What brand are these stands ? And where can I get them ? A link would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The Everyday Audiophile I really like your aproach. I totally agree the room is largest component of our stereo. its very good to understand it. 👍
Hey. How you put them on stand. There no hole on the bottom of the speaker -.-

Triangle BR02, BR03 or KEF Q150 for desktop use?
CZ None of them. The KEF Q150 and Borea BR02 are rear ported so, not ideal, and the BR03 are just too big.
