I just lost my best friend of over 58 years yesterday and this video helped ease the pain by reminding me that I can still access that friendship ... all I have to do is dream ... this was perfect ... we met through music and were both music majors in college ... thank you from the bottom of my heart ... you are one of God’s blessings ...
Im turning 57 in two weeks, played guitar all my adult life since 15, so sorry for your loss, best friend...., Ive had some hand problems, and its then when you really know how much guitar playing means to you..., believe you me, brother... on the lighter/medium /Seinfeld s funny side: " Isnt it FUNNY when you buy a brannew decent price classical guitar home and you find you have to change 2 strings and file some nut n tune down ( 3/4 sized can be a pain but this La Mancha has a spanish heal and a very active truss rod + the price 150€s!( now tuned to F and its soft and not perfect but good for sensitive jazz...) Im sorry for rambling, but music is my soul and Ive lived n learned to my age not be be jealous (I mean really jealous...) of anyones achievemnts so of anyone! Life is short, n the La Manca is fine i actually wanted it to open up tuned lower so there, once had a Yamaha flamingo, ha , filed down the bridge, intonation perfect but the hi e wayy off! I lost 2 friends in 2 months, 61 and so, SUDDENLY ... I lived in the same house, got a new flat, now my 6th floor corridor neihbors age 77 and so... , Hey man, theres always Tom Waits for sorrow, but also an album: Meant to Be by John Scofield with Joe Lovano!
I just read about 50 of the comments and agreed with them and stopped reading to say this ..we all love your voice your style and your innocence .we all have memories of days gone by which we miss terribly ... but you bring them back to us and remind us of our innocence then and the feelings we had .. thank you
I've been up for hours watching ugliness on the news. In a bad place because of problems. And I see this video has been posted. I crave some joy so I immediately listen. So much light in the singing that it makes me want to cry but I'm not sure why.
To get joy you have to have welcomed the Holy Spirit into your heart. So many people have turned away from God and can't understand why they are so miserable. To do it you must have something called faith. Faith is reaching out in the darkness, fully knowing that you will have access to God's love, power, and grace. But it will take some surrender to accomplish that. Are you willing to surrender? Without God you have no protection from evil.
We live in the most peaceful era in human history and the one with the lowest poverty rate. Whenever something bad happens in the world, the news puts it in a spotlight, which creates the impression that everything is bad, but it's not. They do that to keep people watching.
Sure wish it was me. This young woman is a gorgeous, talented, melodic, poetic, emphatic, creative, artistic soul. I’ll never have her, but I can “dream a little dream”. Thanks Allison for the pleasure. 😊
I was thinking of this sing all day while building trails through my woods. I had supper and sat down, turned on RUclips, and here you are young lady singing it for me. Nice job, and thank you.
I played this song the whole time I was falling in love with my wife 20 years ago. To hear your version was so sweet and soft it warmed my heart, again. Lovely voice, technique and look. Amazing Job, Thank You, D
Totally Agree! She's like you got to travel back in a Time Machine! ...or maybe she came to the Future to remind us what Beautiful and Peace-loving music is...
Who else feels mellowed, chilled & so at ease just listening to her lovely voice ! What pleasure with all the bad news constantly on TV. More songs please 💞💞
"The only trouble is gee whiz" your performance literally brought tears to my eyes. The best thing about being alive in 2020 is the easy availability to see and hear all the great music of my life for FREE. As another great performer sang "I honestly love you"!!!!
Beautiful ballad.perfect for how I feel. She has the correct emotion for the track, it's not a happy song. Longing for somebody. Perfection.million likes.
Im French and im so glad I found your channel and your music !!! It was absolutely wonderful, I actually felt like I was in a dream while listening to you. You have a beautiful and very well adjusted voice. For the past 10 minutes I've been sharing this video with all my friends in France. It made my day. It's been quite a while since I haven't discovered such a good singer. if someday you come to France to sing I think a lot of us would be happy to assist ! (To be present, to be there ? I don't know the right word im sorry for my incorrect english..) Im listening to all your other videos right now, damn im at work and your voice bright up my day, thank you ! Hello from across the Atlantic, merci encore pour votre musique mademoiselle Allison !
It's a done deal, you are now my favorite musician, period. And that's saying A LOT. Especially since I didn't know you existed 30 minutes ago! It's now 4 am the next morning and listening to this with eyes closed is the best thing ever to deal with late night stress 💓 My soul has never been so soothed. Thank you so much, this world doesn't deserve you but it sorely needs you.
I first heard this song in summer camp when I was 10 in 1958 or ‘59. It connected with my new interest in girls at the time and will forever be a strong connection to those days. You sing it and everything beautifully. Thanks
Some songs are ruined by full-bore screeching. They demand a gentle, sensitive, delicate rendition. This song is one of them, as Allison so brilliantly proves. This is about as close to perfection as you can get. Congratulations Alison!
My routine when I get an Alison Young notication is ! click on lonk 2 start video 3 click like 4 listen to the track 5 set to repeat for about 50 listens 5 regret that we can't click like again and again This is seriously good stuff, Alison, as we suffer in these strange time - keep them coming PLEASE
Your beautiful choices in harmony and arrangement just lift this beyond an already lovely song into something indescribable. I love the way you manage to add your own little touches and identity while keeping the spirit of the original intact as well. 🎶 ♥
Was a huge fan of the Everly Brothers waaaay back when they recorded this. And have always strongly felt that NO ONE should be allowed to cover their songs. You my dear, after all these many year, just changed my mind. SWEET.
I've been listening to "vintage playlists" these past few days and yours could join them. Your voice just fits and is timeless magic that will last forever.
I so look forward to your classics. I've commented before you have such an old soul from romantic days of yesteryear when people wrote music you could feel deep inside. Please don't ever loose that. It's truly a gift. Thank you.
That is angelic. It's really late, and I need to go to sleep, but RUclips keeps starting another one of your songs before I can turn it off, and they're so good that I keep saying, "Okay, one more." Thanks for sharing your music.
Please don't give up. You should be headlining your own shows. Or at least opening for some really big acts !!! You are so amazing ........ love everything I've seen so far. Can't wait for more !!!!
Have a friend that got tickets to Simon and Garfunkel's Old Friends tour when they came to Phoenix, and invited me because he knew that my brother and I had learned and sang a bunch of their tunes...anyway, I didn't know this was going to happen, but I think around half way through the concert, they got to talking about how the Everly Brothers were such a big influence and encouragement on how just two people working together could pull off keeping an audience captivated...and proceeded to introduce them...they did this song among others as well...thanks for covering this great tune and hope you and yours are well!
Great job on a true classic. These standards are a gold mine of great songwriting talent. We often know the song by the performer but many people never realize that there were great "songwriters" who only wrote songs but never performed them. So it took 3 things to make a hit. The song, the performer and the interpretation by the performer. When those three things come together it's magic. Think of Ray Charles' version of Georgia. Songwriter, performer, interpretation. Nat King Cole's version of Mona Lisa. The list is endless. Study those classic songs and you'll get a PhD in music.
You always pick the perfect songs... the harmonies work was awesome. I promise I will start a new collection with only your songs... I will let you know... 🌹🌹🌹😏
This was maybe the ONE tune that steered me towards learning to play. Just this year, I got hip to Robson and Gerome, who covered practically everything I was trying to play, or arrange, or something, like "True Love Ways".
Wonderful. This was one of my favorite song when I was a teenager (and the song was new). Loved, and still do love, The Everly Brothers. I really appreciate you enunciating “you” instead of “chew”. Beautifully done my dear. 👍
I have to comment, when i heard your voice, chills went up my back, your going on my playlist, lovely voice just lovely,i liked and subscribed, please do more oldie remakes
Looped this song all night softly on my laptop in my room and 2020 just melted away as I floated along with her voice into and back out of slumber land...it was beautiful.....Thank you Allison...
The Everly Brothers would be very proud.
One is still alive according to Wikipedia, so you might not need the subjunctive
I used to drink with them and I approve of this message!
I think they'd be blown away 👊😎
Pro trick: watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Royal Ronan Definitely, I've been using flixzone} for years myself :D

I think we old timers appreciate the way you handle the music we love. You just sing it without hoking it up, but you sing
your version.
I can remember when this came out. We had YMCA dances for teens. I prayed for this kind of song. Everly brothers 1958!
Proverbial "old soul".
Overly compliment

One of life's biggest highlights was seeing the Everly Brothers with Simon and Garfunkel sing this. And this, is as equally beautiful.
I've been up for hours watching ugliness on the news. In a bad place because of problems. And I see this video has been posted. I crave some joy so I immediately listen. So much light in the singing that it makes me want to cry but I'm not sure why.

Stop watching the NEWS!!!! easy
The news is lying to you. I guarantee it. Their business model isn't to inform you. It's to keep you watching.
Even better, do Skeeter's "Let Me Get Close To You".
We live in the most peaceful era in human history and the one with the lowest poverty rate. Whenever something bad happens in the world, the news puts it in a spotlight, which creates the impression that everything is bad, but it's not. They do that to keep people watching.

Me too, of course, now that I'm married, I have to change the lyrics to "If I want you I have to dream dream dream... " (smile)

Such beauty and grace in an ugly time.Takes my breath away and makes the tears flow.
Thank you. I needed your angelic voice this morning.
Jesus is God 🦁 and only way to heaven and escape eternal hellfire
"The only trouble is gee whiz" your performance literally brought tears to my eyes. The best thing about being alive in 2020 is the easy availability to see and hear all the great music of my life for FREE. As another great performer sang "I honestly love you"!!!!

I have not heard this song in so long! Your performance was so beautiful that I had to share it and watch it again. Cried both times.
Same here. 🌷
So sweet. Allison has such a classically beautiful voice. I love it.
Love it! The Everly Brothers never sounded better.
The Everly Brothers would be proud of your beautiful rendition of their song. Great job.
Gorgeous rendition. Lovely.
Great rendition of the 1958 Everly Brothers song, "All I Have To Do Is Dream". Glad to see some of the younger set, enjoying this old music.

Allison is the real thing. An artist that is fresh yet classic. Thank you Allison.
A great job of one of Felice and Boudleaux Bryant's songs that got them both in the Country Music and Rock and Roll Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
Please cover End of the World by Skeeter Davis
Oh yes, that's a good one.
Yes!
