    Here I am again lol. Boy I feel like I've been in school all day. Thank you for doing what you do in the videos. I feel like I've gained enough knowledge from your channel to go out and get started snaring, along with a book my wife got me I believe I can put all this and from what I learned making traditional sets and go out and gather some furs to go with my leather working stuff.

    Even if not required deer stops are huge on most snares as deer always will find them also a deer stop is usually set big enough can keep most smaller house pets alive

    Good morning meet trapper... Another great video. I commented four five weeks ago on a video you did and I was requesting some specifics on trapping Hogs. I'm trap in a few but I don't seem to be as effective yet is what I could be. When you read this comment if you don't mind shoot me a little information on loop size and distance off the ground. It seems I'm having a few of my snares knocked down and laying in the trail. Thanks so much and God bless you from Central Florida on this beautiful Sunday morning.

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  5 лет назад +1

      Snaring hogs is just like snaring any other animal - except you have everything from little piglets to giant boars. There is no set loop size or height. Your best bet is to put out a game camera and see what you are dealing with, then adjust the loop size and height to fit what you see,

    Do wire snares work for small game in a situation where you can't us cable?

  • @ozark_trapper
    @ozark_trapper 5 лет назад

    Great video as always thanks.. I know a lot of guys use 1/16 on Bobcats. I only used 5/64 on them. But I got a deal on 4dz of 40 inch 1/16 snares with a Gregerson lock. No tubing or deer stops. But can add them. They look like they have a #11 swivel on them. Would they work good on Bobcats. Because they r easy to hold never had one to chew. I would like to try to snare a mink or muskrat sometime. I am getting to like snaring more than steel traps. Easy to set no bait or dug up traps. I have never used a Gregerson lock. Do u know anything about them? As long as as a person is 20ft or less from water no deer stop is required. Thanks again.

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  5 лет назад +1

      Gregerson locks are great locks. They were the first lock I ever used. The Gregerson lock is ideal for small game as the lock will snap under a heaver load - sort of a built in breakaway type device. Good luck!

    Hello sir, I have been watching your videos recently, very helpful and lots of information from an expert, but I am new on trapping and I can't really decide what is the best traps that would work for me. The nearest area for hog hunting is about 2 hours from my place so I think snaring is the solution for me, for it is simplicity and I wouldn't have to care a lot of tools for it with me, but is there anyway to make a safe lock for snare that relaxes when the catch stop pulling? so it will catch and keep the hog alive until I came back.
    Thank You.

      There are many relaxing locks on the market. Contact Brian at southernsnares.com - 912-288-6542 and tell him that you need hog snares and that MeatTrapper sent you - he will fix you up with the best available. I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

      most dogs just sit down and waite, After you catch the same dog a dozen times or so they also learn to stay out of them.
