A. I do use retinol and I chose Cerave resurfacing retinol as my beginner retinol

I apply retinoid on the undereye area because that's where my skin needs the most.

WTH? Of course, I'm not going to put it near mucous membranes (ouch). But I'm trying to get rid of wrinkles and sebaceous filaments. I'm using Adapalene, not Retinol, but still--what good is a wrinkle cream if you can't put it on wrinkles? You know--like around the mouth, nasolabial folds? Crow's feet?

That's quite alright. It's more about not getting inside the eye pr mouth.
I always clean my face first with a gentle cleanser then i apply hyaluronic acid serum on my face as it helps to moisturize our skin, then i apply retinol following up with a hydrating moisturizer.
Next day i follow my skincare routine with sunscreen. And i do not use salicylic acid or vit C products.. i use them on alternative days.

@@malavikar1065 yes, because you don't wanna jumbled up the products. Also always remember to damp your face first and then use hyaluronic acid serum or cream. Otherwise it'll strip the hydration from your face.

You can use acid in the morning. Basically use them at opposite times, but you can definitely put you vitamins C on in the morning, it works better.
I use tretinoin over all my face. I don't have any irritation even when applied in the corners of the nose, eyes and mouth but I only apply it on the upper eye lid not the actual lid.
Under eye soothing pads or patches to reduce puffiness and face sheet masks are safe for us or not plz guide me

I learnt this the hard way after overusing AHAs & retinol 0.5% consecutively night after night only to have a blastic acne purge on both my cheeks that went till my neck & took 8 months to recover fully.

This is great advice for people who are just starting! Me on the other hand who is a seasoned professional 😆 I put way more than a dime size amount on my face and neck I'm also able to use it over my eyes and under my eyes On my neck as well and I put it on the back of my hands I can also use it on the same night I use AHA and BHA and I do rub it in 😆 🤣 😂 I'm using Prescription Tretinoin Cream 0.01% and starting Tazarotene sooo....lol but YES this is for People just starting so please listen to Her until YOUR Skin is used to it, it took ME Year's before I could use it the way I do! I can even put it on damp skin now as well absolutely NO Problems! My Dermatologist said as long as My Skin can handle it to keep doing what I'm doing because My Skin is Flawless 😉

You most certainly can use it under your eyes. Being that the area around the eyes falls prey to wrinkles and crows feet, Friedman says you "absolutely can" apply retinol under and around the eye. However, he cautions us to be mindful of applying retinol in this area, "as the skin is thin here; its ability to absorb and do its thing is greater and therefore the potential for irritation is slightly greater." So if you want to treat the eye area, be sure to "take the proper precautions-moisturizer to damp skin and use sun protection."
With all due respect, other dermatologists have said it is perfectly fine to use retinal (even stronger than retinol) and ascorbic acid together. It's all about understanding your own skin and make sure to patch test.
And I always apply ascorbic acid 15% on slightly damp skin with great results.

Those areas are super sensitive and eventually end up burned as in chemical burn. Been there, done there. Hurts like hell

My tretinoin cream is thick so i use a carrier lotion, neutrogena triple age repair plus a drop or two of castor oil. Sometimes I slug with desitin baby rash lotion too. Even if you use otc products, your skin will love the dedicated care directly on the face. This is night routine. During the day i use lotion w acids and spf w tint, top off w neutrogena 70 spf lotion (or aveeno body lotion w 60 spf cuz its so dewey oily but irritates my eyes so only from cheeks down). Don’t neglect the neck chest and arms too.
Rubbing is 90% less effective than dabbing for any facial products

You can’t not rub on the ordinary’s retinol. It’s that oily that it barely sinks in when you rub it in so spreading onto the skin without rubbing is impossible I’m afraid. Plus I get good results with it and I do rub so 🤷♂️

I have been breaking every one of these rules and my skin haven't been better.
1. I apply tretinoin 0.1% on damp skin and massage for 30-45 seconds till my fingers feel dry or till its absorbed by my skin
2. I especially apply tretinoin on corners of my lips, corners of my nose, eyelids and under eye bags. Never had irritation or other problems. Contradicting,, my undereye bags actually brightened up. Its better than using retinol eyecreams which are really expensive.
3. After applying tretinoin 0.1%, I apply a healthy amount of moisturizer. Then on top of the moisturizer I use kojic acid spot treatment for dark spots. And on top of that I use salicylic acid 3% gel thrice a week. Really helps with blackheads and exfoliating.
That's the Night Routine. Morning routine is different with Niacinamide 4%, Moisturizer and on top of that SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Guys, Please start using at least a retinoid and sunscreen. In your forties, you'll thank yourself. Trust me. Its never too late.
