  • Skip to 2:18 for Siren only and turn up loud to get an idea of just how loud it actually is :)
    Twenty-two tsunami warning sirens have been installed from Waimairi Beach to Sumner. The warning system has been operational from 1 July 2012, along Christchurch’s coastal area. along Christchurch’s coastal area.
    Christchurch’s tsunami warning siren system is tested twice yearly at 11am on the Sundays that Daylight Saving begins and ends. The sirens will sound for one to two minutes.
    It is important to remember the sirens will only be heard within a few blocks of the beach along the coastline from Waimairi Beach to Sumner. The system is not designed to be heard inland from these areas.

    Wish our Tornado/Air Red sirens sounded like this. They’d be less scary. At 1:58 it starts.

    People say this siren sounds like a reversing buzzer. Well man, if a reversing buzzer starts echoing and sounding like an emergency vehicle rumbler, I imagine it could get your attention really well!

    • @Next72Hours
      @Next72Hours  2 года назад +1

      Would make a great siren I would imagine..like the American rumblers...would certainly make you pay attention

    The louder= the closer the tsunami.

    • @Next72Hours
      @Next72Hours  7 месяцев назад

      I mean these are a bit of an issue because the system states that the sirens are there to make you aware of an situation happening - but they may not go off in time if the quake is more local

    • @Next72Hours
      @Next72Hours  9 лет назад

      schnorres58 Servus Christoph, Diesem Warnsystem haben wir nur seit 2012. Wegen die erdbeben in 2010 und 2011, habe ich den letzten 3 und ein halb jahre lang in Australien gelebt. Deshalb habe ich den Siren heute zum erstenmal in meine leben gehoert. Es war ziemlich laut und ganz robotisch. So lang ich noch am leben bin hoffe ich nie wieder soetwas zu erleben. Ich lebe noch, darueber bin ich wirklich dankbar aber ich habe nicht nur gute freunde deswegen verloren und aber auch meine familie kreis wurde auch gebrochen. Aber so ist das leben. Gibt es dort oft Gross-Schadens-Ereignissen? Ich hoffe dass mein Deutsch verstehbar ist, ich habe nur mein kurzes Schulkenntnis und die andere hab ich durch STS, NENA, PUR und Rainhard Fendrich gelernt. :) LG Phil

    • @schnorres58
      @schnorres58 9 лет назад

      Dein Deutsch ist um vieles besser als mein Englisch,bei uns gibt es sehr wenige Gross-Schadens-Ereignisse,die Sirenen sind noch ein Relikt aus früheren Zeiten,
