- Skip to 2:18 for Siren only and turn up loud to get an idea of just how loud it actually is :)
Twenty-two tsunami warning sirens have been installed from Waimairi Beach to Sumner. The warning system has been operational from 1 July 2012, along Christchurch’s coastal area. along Christchurch’s coastal area.
Christchurch’s tsunami warning siren system is tested twice yearly at 11am on the Sundays that Daylight Saving begins and ends. The sirens will sound for one to two minutes.
It is important to remember the sirens will only be heard within a few blocks of the beach along the coastline from Waimairi Beach to Sumner. The system is not designed to be heard inland from these areas.
Check out the Christchurch City Council website for more information at:

Wish our Tornado/Air Red sirens sounded like this. They’d be less scary. At 1:58 it starts.
Very scary sounds
The siren starts at 02:17
Actually your wrong in each country every one is put in fear buy those sounds
@@Robert-vw4xr OK. The point is when I hear a siren I get scared. I don’t care what it sounds like
When they're blasting for real, they're scary as fuck.
Came in handy today!
What for?
iOS Portal why?
@@ririateamomallon2127 i watched the NZ news when it happened while i live in Norway and i was scared for the NZ people that were at risk
Honestly this doesn’t scare me as much as other emergency sirens because it sounds like an unresolved note that needs like a happy note
up close and personal it is a hell of a noise though
Oh shit I had my volume all the way to 100 with headphones and this scared me when it got louder
It really ramps up a lot aye
People say this siren sounds like a reversing buzzer. Well man, if a reversing buzzer starts echoing and sounding like an emergency vehicle rumbler, I imagine it could get your attention really well!
Would make a great siren I would imagine..like the American rumblers...would certainly make you pay attention
The louder= the closer the tsunami.
I mean these are a bit of an issue because the system states that the sirens are there to make you aware of an situation happening - but they may not go off in time if the quake is more local
Is it just me or does it get louder
*its supposed to*
it gets very very loud in the end
LG Christoph
Whats the name/type of this siren?
And whats the manufacturer of this siren?
I think it’s a Meerkat Siren by ATI

@@Next72Hours ur good 💀
Japan is like an air raid siren with a voice lmfao this isnt as creepy
nope this is not as creepy but it sure is loud and scary if you dont know its coming - like their ambulances with the voices also .. its funny how their politeness extends into their sirens also
I hope this never happens In New Zealand
it has happened a number of times, we have had some serious earthquakes which caused many people to die also
Tsunami sirens
very loud tsunami sirens at that
Stop testing it. IT’S FUCKIN NOISE POLLUTION!
Little Rudy Adventures better to know what it sounds like and how to act than be the person. On the beach wondering why the waters going out so far lol..
Thunderbolt sirens would blow that stupid mad face siren to the ground with their powerful snow blowing voices!
b e e p
Nah, These are good. a Grifco 888 or Grifco 999 would be awesome. Those were made in the US, but Grifco sirens are only just a few kilometres over water in Australia
having heard these go off a number of times I can attest to how loud they are and how well they work - I would say the sheeple though don't seem to know what to do when they go off.
Was expecting a bass drop
might make a good backing track
I hate
hate what?
Looks like some kinda ATI.
+Brandon Straight That is a ATI
