The Quest for Island Barramundi Begins

- Fishing around the Pellew Islands in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Amongst all of those Islands and rocky outcrops, there has to be Barramundi out there.
So, in this episode, we’re loading up my new boat and heading out to the islands to see if we can find some great Barra fishing spots.
We’ll split the adventure into three trips. My mate Ash is coming with me on all 3 of the days. And we'll catch up with some other people along the way, including a bit of a convoy to Wiyibi Fishing and Wilderness Lodge on day 2. And a special guest appearance on day 3 from "The Codmother".

Great vids mate. I love flicking around rocky headlands for Barra and Jacks and would love to see more like this. Have heard you talk about how big you are but mate! Your paw wrapped around a stubby made it look like a kiddies throw down. Buffaloes rule! LOL. Dr T
Actually a pretty smart move this time of year to be honest, the water is heaps cleaner as it's not so affected by the fresh and who doesn't love a coastal rock bar Barra?!? Lovely boat mate, it's growing on me despite being glass.
Clearer doesn’t mean better for Barra tho, especially on the headlands.
Just a tip on a Glass boat mate, don't be running it up on the sand to often hey, it will wear the Gel coat off and then have all sorts of issues.
A lot different to an ally boat to take care of.
I've never had a glass boat before, so I'm still learning... The owner of the boat (from Baysport Boats) has told me to use the boat as usual. Don't treat it any different. He also put a nose-cone/bash-plate type thing on the hull too... so that should protect the bottom.

Fantastic Mikey, I reckon you are very close to the same spot i caught my very first barra. (Around the 10 min mark). We come out of the Wearyn and head towards the islands. Wont say where i think you are, but we hope to be able to get out there later this year. Brilliant spot if it’s flat, a lot harder to fish if the wind is up.
Yea it definitely sucks when the wind is up. I'd love to be out there one time when it's crystal clear and setup a gopro or two under water.
Hey mate I used to just catch a shit ton of coral trout of all the rocks and if you really want them trout troll the abury reef coral trout ever where and trolling the mouth of mule creek plenty of Barra anyways love the vids keep it up ❤
Yea I've caught trout around those rocks too... which is so crazy... Trout and Barra at the same spot. Pretty awesome.
And Abury Reef... I haven't heard of that and can't find it on maps?

What Brand of Hydraulic Jacking plate do you have Mikey ?
As after watching this I just ordered a Pro XS 115 for my 4.6 side console from Precision Marine here in Darwin and wanting to put a Hydraulic Jacking plate on it also mate.
It says "SeaStar by Dometic" on the side of it mate. I'm not sure which model it is. But it's awesome.
Hows the PRO XS mate and what is top speed? I just ordered one .
I think we got it up to 80KM/H for a couple of seconds on the way home on one of the trips. The hull is rated for a 200HP, so if top speed was a priority, the boat could go a lot faster I reckon.
