    Nikki just catching up and I use Roadrunner Sports too. They can make you an extra set of insoles based on your foot profile so you don't have to switch them between your shoes.

    If you care about your viewers mental health you wouldn’t use BetterHelp as a sponsor after everything that’s come out about them.     Biggest advice is to join a run club! You get to meet awesome ppl and it's a great support system. I'm 31 and started in March and couldn't get over a quarter mile without stopping. Now I've gotten up to 15 miles with the help of the awesome run club friends I have made. Also compression ankle socks and regular compression socks. Pain cream for sore feet. Start with a 5k goal and work up from there. It gets easier and way more enjoyable.

    If you're looking to increase distance, you might want to try mixing in walk/runs. E.g. run 5m, walk 30s repeat (still extremely slow). You might be surprised how much further you can get like this , and beginners often find this easier and less daunting than just stretching their runs longer and longer

    I appreciate you bringing up loss/grief even tho it’s a really difficult subject. I lost my long hair orange kitty Brian tragically due to an assumed heart condition at only 6 months. It’s been a year and I have those “should have” thoughts almost daily still. I hope they are playing together being chonks 🥺❤

    I used to only lift weights then I got into HIIT (b/c pandemic) and now I’m in my running era and I love it! 🏃🏻‍♀️Thats awesome you’re running now. If you ever sign up for races, the energy and the positive vibes is such an amazing experience. 😝Try a running club they’re so much fun.

    I turned 29 in September and I AM FEELING IT!!!!! Just started to run as well. Lifts weights for the last ten years has been great but I need a challenge! Definitely do more running blogs and do you boo! Lots of love from FL!

    Just ran my first full marathon. Finished and said never again. 4 days later I’ve forgotten how terrible miles 16-22 were and I’m thinking maybe I’d like to improve my time! Lol. I love running!

    I have been running for ⚡️18 years⚡️ and I LOVE it so much! I’m glad you learned a few things early! I also went through the whole run as fast as possible every run and you’ll get better every time. That’s false. Oh so not how it works. So a few pointers for anyone and everyone that wants to start running:
    - running slow is your best friend. play your favorite music, sing along, you should be able to talk without being out of breath on 90% of your runs, especially in the beginning. if you need to do walk/runs to start, totally do it!
    - you will have shit runs no matter how many runs you get under your belt. it’s just the way it is, they aren’t wasted, still do them
    - carbs are your other best friend when running. you’re body will use more glycogen so you will need to up your strict carb sources if you want to avoid crashing

    It’s so fun to train for things! I admire you so much! You’re the only previous body building youtuber who is not trying to scam people or still obsessing over your body. You seem so healthy & vulnerable. I always see vids like don’t run you won’t gain muscle but at this point in my life it’s like who cares, do what’s best for your mental health. Running makes me feel so good!

    girl i cry about the thought of even losing my cat and she’s still young. i know the love you have for a cat is deep and i would definitely be the same as you if/when i lose her. better to have loved and lost than to never love her at all. 😢

    Highly recommend jump roping with crossropes weighted jump ropes if you want something new to try. They are so fun and just like dancing around for 30 min. Ashley started using them too!

    You can do a day in the life vlog and incorporate your run! With getting ready, stretching, hydrating, what you eat that day, etc. you know we love a Nikki day in the life!!❤🫶🏼

    I’ve read when add distance and/or time you do it in 10% increments. I’ve done couch to 5k a bunch of times but that may even be a bit fast if you’re just starting out however, I really like how couch to 5k leads you into running farther. Maybe something to look into.

    Well, Nikki I ran yesterday for the first time in about 2 years. Definitely the first time I ran for fun and actually enjoyed it. I've been lifting on and off for about 6 years and I was bored. Thanks for being so honest about how slow/"bad" the first runs are. Can't wait to see how we both improve!!!

    My therapy cat passed in June. I felt similar. She had mammary gland cancer. I was going through a breast cancer scare in summer 2021 and was having biopsies etc. I noticed her leaving a wet spot on my exercise mat(she liked to workout with me😅). Anyways, I should have investigated but I assumed it was pee since she had long fur and sometimes would get pee on her back legs and I was preoccupied by my own health scare. We only found out she had cancer october 2021 and it was already grade 2. She had surgery and we got 20 healthy months with her then it came back so fast😭 I have a lot of guilt about it

    Watch as many videos on form as possible and try to get that nailed while keeping a slow pace for the time being. You will likely get injured again if you go too quick. Make really slow adjustments to your pace and mileage over time, no more than 10% increase each week. Just enjoy the process, it will take quite a long time to get good at it. Slow and steady wins the race. There's a good book called "Born to Run" I reckon you will enjoy. I used to lift but now all I do is run and I absolutely love it. Good luck.

    If you’re still getting shin splints, I recommend using athletic tape on your shins and wearing compression socks on top. This helped me a lot when I started running again, now in my 30s, after I had spent my entire 20s running without any problems.

    I to have gotten a foot scan like that done, and got personalized inner soles made😊 Very nice!
    And I’ve also been out and about in shoes with no inner soles a few times 😆🙌 - feet sitting way to low in the shoes, looking all weird.
    We can’t always remember everything!😆💩

    Another thing with Hokas, the heel to toe drop is 4mm vs other shoes that have an 8mm drop. Ease into them to prevent shin splints :)

    I think running vlogs are good like the day of a run - pre fuel drinks etc stretches a few clips on the run a breakdown of the run aftwr post refuel and hydration. What you’re wearing etc ♥️♥️ also I can’t understand why a running shop would sell you 2 diff pairs of runners that are totally different 🤣

    I want you to know, as crazy as it sounds, I still miss max terribly. He was SUCH a special cat. I was so happy every time he popped in on camera. Ive have pets my whole life so I do understand the grief. You're not wrong in feeling that max was just the best. I still expect to see him pop in and I feel sad not seeing him. We love all our pets but sone are just so extraordinarily special. Max is definitely special.

    It took me a few years to feel okay after I lost my first cat, and I love my current little bean so much! She is my entire world and I would do anything for her even if she would trade me for a churu snack any day. Unrelated but the dark hair looks AMAZING

    Walk/run intervals are a great way to start. 1 min walk/1 min 30 run, then build up to 1 min walk/ 3 min run, 2 min walk/5min run. 3-6 min warmup / cool down walks aswell. ☺️
    Also, on non running days strengthen Achilles heel by jumping on the spot or jump rope.

    I want to see more videos about running!! Totally feel you on not realizing that when runners say they're running, they're actually jogging!! It took me YEARS of trying, stopping and restarting to realize that I don't need to be Flo Jo out there, just jog ....🤣🤣

    The thing with shoes is, that dependent on your form etc in runningg, you will need a different one. The best thing I did is get an analysis. It is a completely different feeling, running with the right shoes. Little sidenote, when I got my posture etc analysed I also met a couple of experienced runners that even gave me hints on how to tie the shoes properly for running

    Shin splints can mean your stride is off! It’s typically the sign of a forward foot strike instead of striking mid foot under your hip! Look up Chari Hawkins, the Olympic runner. She post a ton of running drills to improve form that can be used as a warmup for runs. It’s helped me a lot.
