We all know by now how special Yuzuru Hanyu's 3A is - ruclips.net/video/lwoSl-brP4Q/видео.html But do you know that Hanyu's Quad Toeloop are also very special? The answer is still in the unique entry and exit. Let's find out the special entry into Yuzu's 4T in this video 😀😀
Hanyu's quads are astonishingly beautiful and part of the reason is because they melt with/in the performance. He is truly unique. Unfortunately, many old guard figure skating fans are envious of the fact that he attracts many people who otherwise wouldn't be interested in the sport and try to downplay his qualities and achievements. However, this only shows to me that he is indeed bigger than figure skating.
That's it exactly. And where he goes, we will follow. You know whatever comes next for him will be absolutely amazing to witness. I can't wait for the next chapter.
What’s more amazing is that it’s not just for his quad toe. He does it as much as he can for any jump. I still remember the 3F from hope and legacy during the 2017 worlds. The entire program felt so integrated that I thought he was doing a second step sequence. But noooooo…. He was setting up a step sequence as entry for a 3F. And most skaters do not even do that for a relatively humble triple jump in this quad era. The skills this man has is beyond comprehension! His skating is still exquisitely beautiful despite the fact that he has less ice time and is away from his coaches because of this pandemic. What a marvel of a man! ❤️
Yes that twizzle entry for 3F!! Who doesn't love that?! And he brought that same twizzle entry into 4T in the Olympic season! That's the most difficult 4T ever performed in my opinion :P

Quite clear. Quite different. Other skaters' landing of 4T seem to be "forceful effort" with both arms rigidly stretched out. On the other hand, Yuzuru's jumping and landing look very natural, even with both arms stretching out naturally...like a feather. In the landing, Yuzuru's upper body calmly stays straight even with arms stretched out, no indication that he is struggling to make the body rigid and stiff, which is seen in other skaters.
@@FigureSkatingFan Yes, that's his "natural talent of musicality and artistic sense" but also therer is his body. In human movement, the brain is always the center of all the nerves, from which a signal is sent out to the parts of a body. While other skaters' entry and exit of difficult jumps give us an impression that their bodies and arms are forcefully spread out not to fall or not to slip. But Yuzuru's entry and exit of every jump looks so natural, giving us the impression that he doesn't need to "struggle" or doesn't need to control forcefully his body, arms and legs. Every corner of his body is smoothly and naturally go in the air, then landing down naturally, without no "will" or "control" from the brarin. That's how natural and beautiful his skating looks. @@jamesyu5212 So if a judge says he's off music then it's universally true? As if judges can't be wrong :D As if doctors can't be antivax etc :D Yuzuru can be temporarily off his music when he makes a mistake and it takes him a little bit to get back. But in general, he is attuned to his music to a nanosecond and follows various polyrhythms. His musicality is one of the most bizzare things to criticize. @@jamesyu5212 Yes, he missed his 3A3A. It was a sequence out of a back counter at the end of his program. No other skater even attempts such a sequence, let alone from such entry or such late in the program. Also he had a grand total of one (1) run through under his belt with that layout.... That's hardly what I'd call struggling.
I know nothing about ice skating, just happened to click a video and watched a poetic performance by which I was really moved! Since then, couldn't stop watching whatever available on YT. I bet those who started with YH like me regrettably take all other athletes' performances, both men's and ladies', as ugly. Surely he is a gift from God bestowed upon figure skating and also to the world. His legacy will last forever!
This is why his skating has always had a different feel for me, even from the other amazing skaters in the top league. Yuzuru just... you just feel it with him. Your brain and your heart can recognize that he's doing something else, even when you don't have the words for it. Wonderfully explained video!
Well said! After watching Yuzuru skates, you just can't feel the same watching other skaters skate! It's not that they are not good, it's just.. Yuzuru being too good!
I’m really enjoying those simple-to-understand educational kinda videos. For someone who isn’t particularly well-versed in figure skating but who enjoys watching the sport like me, it’s nice to be able to see why Yuzu’s skating has always been so mesmerising to watch. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but I could only describe his routines as “airy”, “flowy”, making it look easy compared to the other skaters’ where I could tell they were struggling to make the jumps and land them. Most of the time I can’t tell a jump is coming because of how well he incorporates the step sequences whereas I can tell with most others even with my untrained eye.
What makes his jumps so great (explained so well by this video) is how he incorporates steps, transitions, and arm movements choreograph to music. In my opinion Yuzuru usually does it to the max for his short program. There's almost nothing left that is not choreograph. Everything is intentional and well thought to grab as much points as he can.
@@yohanes2034 He does not always get rewarded though. Yuzu is doing all these details for his own satisfaction like a true artist. He is not satisfied with mediocre.
@@victoriar9728 right like his solo 3A in beijing Oly SP, he did back counter 3A with only 1 arm extended landing position (the other arm folded to his chest). This may seem small but not using both of your arms to balance yourself at landing is super difficult. He did it intentionally as he was seen trained it during practice sessions. We all know judges did not notice this cause that 3A did not get unanjmous +5 lmao
It's the long 'runway'/loading/buffering / a 5 seconds dull moment made me hate watching FigureSkating before, also rigid body. Because I'm a dancer, I also watch dance covers, tutorials and other stuff. But when RUclips recommended me SEIMEI Pyeongchang 2018 I was like MUSICALITY ✅ PRESENCE ✅ COMMAND ON ICE ✅ INTERPRETATION ✅ NO LONG TAKE OFFs ✅ HE LOOKS GOOD WITHOUT MAKEUP ✅ DAMN, HE LOOKS HANDSOME ✅ DAMN, DID HE JUST SHOUT KATTA??! ✅ DAMN, HE JUST WON ✅ DAMN, HE IS A MAGNET, I NEED TO CHECK HIM OUT ✅ DAMN, HE ACTS NICE AND KIND ✅ DAMN, HE GOT ENOUGH ARSENAL OF QUADS ✅ SKATING SKILLS ✅ ARTISTRY ✅ there you have it, Ladies and Gentlemen, that one whole video made me a fan.

When you are very talented and work hard towards your goal, you will inevitably become a "stumbling block" on the road of some people's efforts, and become the "bad guy" in some people's hearts/life. Not everyone has lofty goals and an open mind.
This video was so informative, but it also made me very mad with ISU for underscore him, when he clearly is the best, not the best right now, he is the best of all time, even better than Plushenko by far!
@@citronella-x7j Nope. Not the other way around but what Plushenko actually said in the interview on Yuzu's Continues With Wings production is that Yuzu is the skater he most admires, that he wants him to always remain the incredible person is, and that Yuzu is his hero.
i guess one reason fans liked him so much is that he is ambitious. Regardless of what he had previously achieved, he continue to strive for more. And he seem to enjoy it so much.
Golden Boy
Thank you for the video! Really enjoyed it and now i wanna cry seeing how he really took the time to make it better every time but clearly he was not rewarded enough in competitions.
The rules says they should. If you have a difficult entry to a jump on top of the three required criteria to be graded with positive GOEs, you can get +4 at minimum. But apparently the ISU decided that that rule doesn’t apply to Yuzu as even if he checks all the bullet points to get +5 GOE, he rarely gets plus +5. And one of the components for PCS is transitions. But Yuzu rarely gets 10 points on that when he is the only one doing entry and exit transitions for ALL his program elements. At most, they would give him 9.75. So apparently that rule doesn’t apply to him as well. It’s sad and frustrating but it’s the reality. 😞
@@jamesyu5212 Ohhhh! I remember you! You’re the person who personally attack others for no apparent reason. Haha how are you doing? Has your day gotten better? No need to defend the ISU judges to me, Sir. It’s hard to believe them when they’ve been caught redhanded several times. Shall we go back down memory lane at all their infamous cheating incidents? Because of that, I’d rather believe what I see and researched on, rather than taking the words of judges at face value. And thank you for videos like this, there are more proof of Yuzu’s transitions. It even explains it for everyone who has been having a hard time figuring out transitions. Also, how dare you bring Nathan into this? That young man is amazing and kind and simply wonderful! I have enough of people trying to bring down skaters just to uplift another. FYI, NATHAN DOESN’T NEED TO BE COMPARED TO YUZU. He is a great skater on his own right! So stop dragging him into anything Yuzu vs ISU related when he wasn’t even mentioned!
Yuzuru Hanyu is one of the most artistic, technical, elegant charismatic skaters of all time! No one else can compare. He made the sport of skating main stream and attracted massive viewership. We all miss Yuzuru in competition and wish him success and happiness in his new endeavors! ❤ 🇯🇵 🇺🇸

This explanation is so good! This really shows what the difference between being just an athlete, and being Yuzuru. I really hope judges will see this during qualification and that Yuzuru gets consistent. I can't wait to see the coming competitions events. I won't have any nails by the Olympics games, that's for sure.

I know that Yuzuru's 4T is full pack with transitions but when you put it side by side with how others do it without, makes me appreciate his greatness even more. I love the twizzle entry and I remember how flabbergasted I was when seeing it live. I thought he was crazy putting a twizzle (which is difficult and greatly reduce speed for some skaters) before a quad. I also love the spread eagle - cross roll - choctaw - 3 turn entry and one foot step exit, so seamless into the program. Also I want to know what was in his mind when planning to do 3A-3A seq with back counter entry at the end of the program when you probably don't have much energy left? Yuzu, please continue be yourself and continue challenge the sport. Even though judges don't appreciate your effort putting difficult transitions (and sometimes not getting rewarded enough), we certainly enjoy and appreciate them.
Yes right!!?? I love love love that Twizzle entry before 4T. He only used it in the Olympic 2018 season because it was so damn difficult!! Can't believe someone could do that!! It's the most beautiful quads I've seen honestly 😀😀
@@FigureSkatingFanhe did that before a quad combination no less. In J Nats 2019 SP he did a beautiful 4T-3T with the "twizzle sandwich" entry-exit. It's true that he'll do no less if he can do more.

this video was so informative. im a really big yuruzu hanyu fan bc theres something so magical about how he performs on the ice. theres a lot of skaters thst i think are kind of stiff in terms of artistry, and there are some that although have a lot of performance and pazzazz, lack the fluidity that hanyu has. there was one comment ive read in a video comparing nathan and yuzu during the latest wt (where nathan won) about not liking yuzu's program because there's "so much going on" or like even with yuzu perfecting his program, he wouldnt still be able to defeat nathan (with all his quads) even if he made a mistake. im not putting hate on anyone but, this video is just the perfect flex for comments like that. they just dont know what artisttry is or want to acknowledge yuzu's creativity and artistry.
Agree. I knew he "flowed" across the ice but this showed why/how. Other skaters are good but they seem choppy or rough. They go for the big jumps and the points not artisty. Yuzuru is art on ice. Miss him.

I think ppl are taking Yuzu for granted. As a result of the scoring system we won’t see this level of complex anh high-quality jumps in the future after he retires. It’s the same way as there’s no more skating skills monster after Patrick Chan
and you haters out there say we fanyus are too much and delusional, oh god please watch this video. you guys are just jealous coz your fav can’t do it like how Yuzu do it.
well... some fanyus are delusional and aggressive. that's why i don't feel comfortable around them even though i am a fan of yuzu. they're just very toxic and unkind. however, to say fanyus in general are delusional/aggressive would be untrue since it is a generalization. it's not wrong to state facts (as in saying "certain fanyus are fanatics") but it is wrong to generalize ("all fanyus are fanatics").
@@euniceaudian it depends on where you see stuff. on some forums, yuzu's competitors' fans are more toxic, and on others, fanyus are more toxic. at least that's what i think 😅
I think a problem too with skating is that commentators always comment on jumps and never other aspects of figure skating. I always hear “beautiful triple toe loop” or “3a” or quad but they never emphasise how how hard the sequence is prior to the jump like “he added choctaw which makes it much harder to ascend” smthing like that.
Isn't the smooth flow from transition to jump, landing and post-jump part of what makes his 4T outstanding? It's like if you edit out the jump, there is no abrupt interruption, just a natural slowing down. And the angle of his landing at touchdown makes it appear like air and ice are seamless.
Yes and as long as Hanyu keeps skating, maybe even more to come! Because his techniques don't sit still, he always explores new ways to improve haha 😀💕
and thanks to your videos i could grasp much of what's happening behind those elements cuz before i became a fanyu i was a total stranger to the sport lol

No other skater even attempts such a sequence, let alone from such entry or such late in the program. Also he had a grand total of one (1) run through under his belt with that layout.... That's hardly what I'd call struggling.
Yuzu’s skating, his jumping, his spins, choreo, etc. everything is ART 👌🏼
Yuzuru Hanyu is great because he loves skating, he pours out his heart and soul on the skating rink. I love him so much ❤️
For Yuzuru, this sport is an art to him. He is the artist who paints on ice with his skates.
artist who paints on ice with his skates!! So well said!!!
Yuzuru is the GOAT!!! Best skater in history of figure skating period

SAMEEEE now i understand why is so nice to watch
true!!

Never...never stop making such videos on Yuzu.
My favourite one so far. So. Good.
Yuzu has been the most talented figure skating I have ever seen. He is a great athletic as well as an artist !
Thank you for this great video. People who unlike this content probably cannot accept the truth about his greatness.
Definitely.
When you are very talented and work hard towards your goal, you will inevitably become a "stumbling block" on the road of some people's efforts, and become the "bad guy" in some people's hearts/life.
Not everyone has lofty goals and an open mind.
Hanyu jumps are real jumps.🔥🇯🇵GOAT. Legends don't cheat and skate cheap, they make technicality and artistry on a well defined motion
I don't really understand the technical stuff, I just understand he is a genius! 😍
Just enjoy his skating haha 😀😀
Same. This lecture about step sequences is making me dizzy.
This video was so informative, but it also made me very mad with ISU for underscore him, when he clearly is the best, not the best right now, he is the best of all time, even better than Plushenko by far!
ISU has none of my respect. They are blatant about the favouritism they show.
His world record score in worlds 2017 was the most underscored world record ever really..
Plushenko said that Yuzu is his Idol.
@@Agnieszka-sm6hd or is it the other way around?
@@citronella-x7j
Nope.

Thank you for the video! Really enjoyed it and now i wanna cry seeing how he really took the time to make it better every time but clearly he was not rewarded enough in competitions.
I really wish the isu judges base on transitions/footwork and the quality instead of just quad jumps
By right they should...

He is no longer challenging an opponent, he is now challenging himself. Fly, Yuzu!
It's true that he'll do no less if he can do more.

there was one comment ive read in a video comparing nathan and yuzu during the latest wt (where nathan won) about not liking yuzu's program because there's "so much going on" or like even with yuzu perfecting his program, he wouldnt still be able to defeat nathan (with all his quads) even if he made a mistake. im not putting hate on anyone but, this video is just the perfect flex for comments like that. they just dont know what artisttry is or want to acknowledge yuzu's creativity and artistry.

It’s the same way as there’s no more skating skills monster after Patrick Chan

well... some fanyus are delusional and aggressive. that's why i don't feel comfortable around them even though i am a fan of yuzu. they're just very toxic and unkind. however, to say fanyus in general are delusional/aggressive would be untrue since it is a generalization. it's not wrong to state facts (as in saying "certain fanyus are fanatics") but it is wrong to generalize ("all fanyus are fanatics").
@@citronella-x7j yes i agree with you. many fanyus are toxic too. but yeah, i see a lot of yuzu’s competitors’ fans being even more toxic hahaha
Yuzu's quad jumps and 3A are so fast and light.
Respect to the other skaters who did try- but yuzu goodness- such a goat and so artistic i love it so much ❤
Isn't the smooth flow from transition to jump, landing and post-jump part of what makes his 4T outstanding? It's like if you edit out the jump, there is no abrupt interruption, just a natural slowing down.
And the angle of his landing at touchdown makes it appear like air and ice are seamless.
